These are hard, joyless days for many. Stop rushing and look folks in the eye. Show mercy to strangers, clerks, broken-hearted.

For sure.❤
Sometimes she applies vibrato, but here she does not and her voice takes on a soul piercing purity that makes me shiver.I can listen to her singing forever. I just love Alison Krauss. I know I am not alone.

That is the hardest kind of singing. Very hard to hold a tone without vibrato. She is pure magic.

She does actually use vibrato in two places but very very subtle, which is beautiful
This is why she has a billion Grammys. What a talent!
Alison Krauss has the voice of an angel. America's best female vocalist!
I found this song recently. My heart is very heavy due to my brother’s cancer diagnosis. The state of the world makes my heart and soul cry. Thank you Alison. If I can make it through my grief just one more month❤️
Alison has been my favorite vocalist since I was 12. I’m now 42 and lost my little brother suddenly last October at 38. I’ve always loved this song, but it takes on a whole new meaning when you’re begging to just get through another month so you can “start again” when it comes to trying to be a normal person in the midst of grief.

Thank you so much. Our dad just suffered a massive heart attack today and is close to being with my baby brother again, which is why I came back to this song and saw your comment. It’s been a rough couple of Decembers, for sure. 💔

Very sorry for your profound loss. I find this helpful in grieving: "Grief is just love with no place to go." Hope your New Year is full of love. Celebrate your brother and yourself amidst the grief. Alisons angelic voice and words here hopefully help. She gets me through lots.
My beautiful Mother was hospitalized Dec 1st and died Dec 25th. The grief returns with December, every. single. year... May the beauty of this music bring us all, comfort and peace during this sometimes difficult Season. Be kind.
Writers are Gordie Sampson and Fred Lavery both Cape Breton raised Nova Scotians as is Natalie herself. Maritime Canada is a rich source of fiddle music rooted in both Irish and French folk music. I wish composers were automatically attributed in every KZread clip.

And of course the tune its self was written by Neil Gow, from Dunkeld in Scotland in the 18th Century. Its called "Neil Gow's Lament for the death of his Second Wife" , Alisons singing and Natalies Playing (with the band) just make it there own and take it to another level. Awesome,
Wow, two treasures Natalie MacMaster on the violin and Alison Krauss vocal solo. What unbelievable performances.
Her gentle approach to some of these songs is breathtaking..
Doesn't get much better than Natalie and Alison. Natalie's husband and kids are all fiddle top notch players too.
Warms the soul. I am not a religious person, but these sounds beckon my heart and mind. Grace.
Alison’s voice can make one’s soul fly. So innocent and pure.
Allison finds Natalie quite amusing! She's our treasure of Cape Breton Island and she doesn't stop moving while she plays. Check out her videos and those of her family performing.

We can see why she is a treasure. She's INCREDIBLE!!
the sweetest voice ever heard in my life!!
Ive been a MacMaster and Krauss fan for a long time, had no idea that they ever played together , beautiful song.
I can only say WOW, she never has let me down, FABULOUS. What a song for this year 2020
I fell great sorrow for those who have not discovered music. It helps me everyday to get through this covid madness. Best to all, stay safe and my most respectful condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
The best thing about this video other than the big talent, is that Natalie is ours! Yes, Nova Scotia. What a big treat to see these very gifted musicians! WOW!!
The violin at the end was breath taking, took me to another place. simply magical.
This got me through intense pain & my divorce. Thank you !!

I hope things are better for you, I am just starting to go through that pain and this has helped.
What I liked in this video is the respect Alison gives natalie as she is plying her violin parts. Watching her, standing still , very nice.
So many lessons from Alison...beyond music. Just watching her performances with others, listening to other professionals talk about her, seeing the number of professionals who want her, reading articles and comments from ordinary people--she is an incredible person. I'm watching her watch Natalie....full appreciation. For Natalie's story to happen, it means that when she met Alison at the workshop, Alison didn't competitively size up Natalie and say something like "I sing too". We need to implement a class in our school curriculums and call it "Alison 101".

I THINK THAT ALISON KRAUSS PLAYS AND SINGS THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG -- I LOVE THIS SONG !!!!!!
So nice to see here step back and let Natalie take the lead violin in the song. That is the definition of grace.

Actually Alison was a guest on Natalie's show. Not that Alison isn't a graceful musical partner but in this instance...not much to do with grace.
I'm an old geezer and l have been a fan of AK since 1988 collected all her music
Love Alison, beautiful in every way. Rare to see her on stage without a violin in hand. I put my headphones on, close my eyes and let her voice take me away to a wonderful place in my mind, total relaxation. I haven't seen this before so thanks for the upload. Atb

+Jeff Alfresco I had not seen this until today either Jeff. Somebody uploaded it today in poor and distorted quality but that video was linked to a longer one of Natalie MacMaster. (Which unfortunately doesn't show up in searches for Alison Krauss). Though I enjoy Breton fiddle myself, I don't think everybody does. For convenience sake I therefor cut the Alison part to upload separately. All credit though for this being up on youtube in the first place go to the uploader oneloveinus. :-)

Two ladies absolutely overloaded with musical talent.

And 2022
This song has been special to me since I heard Natalie MacMaster sing it. Incredibly moving and heartbreaking violin. Made my day seeing this live version with Alison Krauss, amazing duet.
Just beautiful especially seeing this during COVID pandemic 2020!
She has one of the sweetist voices of all time. It touches your very soul. Pure joy to hear her sing. Love this lady. 🤗🎶🎵😍
This is what happens when great songwriting from Gordie Sampson, Cdn, is brought to life by two incredible artists who both know what to interpret a song. This is one of my fav tunes, not overdone, Alison knows how to let a phrase breathe and give the song its own life. Natalie of course is just a phenomenal fiddle player and does Canada 🇨🇦 proud. Just perfection.
Oh My Lord........Angels Are Here On Earth, ......If Not, I'll Just Hear What Alison Has To Say, Until They Arrive....She Is Great !!!!
From the first time I saw Alison at a local festival I knew she was bound for greatness. At the time she was about 14 years of age but a pro already!

Ya. I saw her ??? anyway must have been opening for Emmylou Harris? I know I learned of Nanci Griffith opening for Emmylou at the Capitol Theatre, Concord NH. I don’t know who was headlining when I heard Krauss the first time. A very long time ago but still awe inspiring to listen to today.
The most beautiful song I've heard in a while. It perfectly expresses my December blues.
the finest singing and fiddle i have ever heard. 2 great girls. I keep saying the greatest and then there's this OMG, Were souls have been lost and the walking wounded go . 7 minutes of my life made beautiful.
Oh my goodness such beautiful fiddle at the end. Beautiful
both are in every sense of the word Artists !!! BRAVO
Googled NM and what a pleasant surprise to see Alison Krauss singing

Natalie Mac is a fiddle goddess.
There are no words that can describe it. ❤️
I just LOVE this collaboration of Natalie and Alison, and what a song! They are simply phenomenal together. As I watch again, I get goosebumps again.
This song got me through a bad relationship. It contains such hope for the future! Thanks for the song that helps me through bad times.
This song is an ethereal experience! Wow!! Angelic seems like too small of a word to describe the vocal quality Alison possesses.
Thanks for the music. Watching in Vancouver B.C.Canada! I have danced to Nathalie's music live here.
Natalie sure does a beautiful job on Neil Gow's Lament.
Another collection of Nova Scotia's talent. Miss Alison is quite comfortable with all...
So beautiful, the song gave me chills.
Thank You to both of you, absolutely beautiful!
TEARS , TEARS. TEARS....SO PROFESSIONAL, SO BEAUTIFUL...THIS LADY SINGS LIKE THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN....TKS. GOD...
