This rescue was Ripley's chance at redemption for the deaths of her colleagues in the first film. In a way she saved the marines in their honor and her sanity. Love this scene.

Yep Ellen Ripley is the queen of space and Signourney Weaver was amazing in Aliens. Only one question why didn't she use the gun that had that could have killed the queen. The Queen was Ripley's fear. She faced it.

The best
Drake looks so badass in this scene. I kind of wish he survived longer. But at the same time the scene works because he comes off as a strong soldier here and despite that dies in a terrifying manner, which adds to the sense of dread that no matter how strong or skilled any one of them may look death is coming. And instills true shock in the rest of them. Hudson’s death is also perfect. It’s so good that their characters come through so much in the way they die. In modern movies death scenes are just gimmicky “ways to die”. Whereas in this movie each of them die in a way that reflects their characters. Burke dies hiding and betraying everyone and panicking, Drake dies fighting, Hudson dies filled with adrenaline going crazy screaming vitriol at the aliens before his demise, Vasquez fights down to her last tooth and nail and goes out with desperation. The other soldiers with less lines and less character development obviously get less depth to their deaths naturally. And as someone else said on another video about Bishops death: Queen takes bishop. He had done his part perfectly and dies as he makes a genuine connection with Ripley after having helped her. It’s so well done all of it 😵💫

What a great scene. Ripley taking action with fantastic music behind her. When she starts driving and the music kicks in, I get tingles.
Aliens and T2 have special effects that can hold up with many movies made today. Say what you want about James Cameron, he knows how to direct great movies.

Yes he is. My version of Avatar would have been boring. We would have recruited the Navi males to provide us with all Unobtainium we could use in exchange for video games, pizza, chainsaws and nail guns. What if we built them basketball courts? They looked like that with some practice they could really ball. And all the females could have done about it is roll their eyes and go have their nails done at the manicure shops we built them.
1:41 Burke pulling Gorman back to allow Ripley to drive is the only good thing he does in the whole movie

He also picks up and uses a fire extinguisher at 3:06... but that's about it.
Cameron was so good with this. He knew the limitations of dudes in suits so he used lighting, shadows, and smoke. He didn't take long shots of the Aliens, just quick clips. He also knew how to extend a scene by just showing one side of the action and letting the viewer imagine the rest. NO other director could have made this movie better, given the tech limitations of 1985. James and his wife may have been complete assholes but this movie is an epic masterpiece.

@LakenAnderson I see your angle but disagree. The aliens were still powerful, cunning, and ruthless in the second movie. MANY scenes highlight this. They just faced a more formidable foe. Even then, they still eliminated the majority of the protagonists in mere minutes in the second film. They may have never fit the image of the Alien 1 monster, but they were never the same as Starship Trooper bugs.

@LakenAnderson Fair....enough. I do think movies need to be somewhat believable, but I also think we need to shut off our inner computers at times so we can be entertained. Cameron did a badass job. He took what was a freaking work of art and made it into an action thriller. Is Alien a better Horror movie? Yes. It is. Is Alien a better Sci fi thriller? Yes, it is. Aliens went down a different path. It's an action movie, with zenomorphs in it. And for those of us that like that shit, IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!

Like no hollywood hero remember watching 2006.early6, brilliant, stunning
The Warrior xenomorph design is interesting including their iconic rigid head unlike the smooth Drone head shown in all other films, apparently it's to avoid the glass dome breaking in production and James Cameron explained himself as 'This is what aged Drone looks like', good save. Also modern toys made the drones have a blue colour on their bodies for some reason, they seem pretty black in this film to me.
I have a toy replica of their APC and it even has the alien Ripley squashed molded underneath it! I noticed their dropships also look very similar to the bomber gunships in Avatar. James Cameron is one hell of a designer on everything in his films!👍🏻

Baddass. Every moment of this movie
What is amazing here is you see the aliens maybe 3 seconds on an almost 5 minutes scene, but it's still very terriffying.
In contrary to common belief Aliens doesn't really show a lot of Aliens. The Warrior xenomorphs we see here are often shown very briefly in a flash just for a brief second to the point you can't capture a full lingering shot.

Ripley driving the transporter is iconic and films like Snydercut and even the Batman 2022 seem to be influenced heavily by this car chase scene with the protagonists driving their mobiles like a badass with similar beating/pumping music playing (Yes I know the Aliens car technically isn't a car rather a transporter or a tank)

This is why I could never be a movie maker. In my version the Marines would have deployed a number of sophisticated drones and would have known the exact disposition of the colony's inhabitants, including the ones cocooned, before ever setting foot on the ground. They they would have used a number different chemical agents, again deployed by drones, to try to eliminate the xenomorphs before putting anyone at risk. And how boring would that have been? And in my version they would have had sentries posted around their landing ship. It would have been dullsville.

That was how it worked in the past, E.G. in the roman legion, you started off as a trooper then got promoted to officer ranks like decurion and centurion. But then, the roman legion didnt have a NCO corps and modern armies function very differently. Officers are taught different stuff than NCOs these days. Fresh LTs need time to get up to speed which is why they rely on their NCOs so much. His big mistake was sending them in without their usual guns, should have pulled back and figured out another way. But then it would turn into a tower defence game with the marines blowing the shit out of aliens with awesome firepower and that wasnt the kind of movie they wanted to make.
And that's how you make a Strong Female character ladies and Gents...Unlike the BS we see today for Hollywood or Disney.
Ripley is the ultimate Karen.
It just sucks the director didn't have the foresight to tell us whether Ripley was a man or a woman. leaving it so ambiguous was so weird. TBH none of the characters gender identities were explained properly.
