to those complaining I've released spoilers, it's out in a lot of countries today and plenty saw it on advanced screenings yesterday. you don't have to watch this, if it offends you, censor yourself. if you're disappointed with the movie and disagree with me, it's an opinion, we don't have to see eye to eye. I was very clear in my non spoiler review, I liked it, but it has major issues which I talk about. the beauty of cinema is its subjective

Mr H Reviews first Mr.H you have your video labeled Convenant Spoilers, so if people chose to watch it then that's their own fault! Secondly and more importantly it really saddens me to no end that hear that David created the aliens. It's almost like Ridley is saying F U to everyone who've waited for this movie to come out. Why retcon the established history of the franchise, what's the purpose of that ? Lastly I really enjoy your post and even if I disagree with you sometimes.

David did not create the xenomorph but recreated a pre existing form of the "hybrid" he mentioned. The traditional xenomorphwe know is able to procreate without the black pathogen as the facehugger mutates the human cells to form the alien. We know the engineers know about the alien from the mural but even that one was different from what we have seen. We have only seen the hybrids and davids comment imply their is a pure xenomorph that maybe the engineers might haven trying to create. It would be wise to not trust David on what he say as he believes himself a new god. he didn't create anything new but a failed project that he insists is the perfect organism despite being surround by a dead planet due to another organism. he simply state his is the best as he believes he made it and cannot accept the engineers are better than him. And last point, the xenomorph we see is not the same as the one in the original it grows to fast and form differently as a chest burster and i think ridley scott is to smart to throw away the original alien and replace it in one of his best series.

Unfortunately I don't think that's what Ridley had in mind. After watching the movie I think it strongly implies that David created the final stage of the Xenomorphs that we know and love. He might perfect it further in the future movie so they will look more like in the original Alien. I dislike that idea a lot but I'm afraid it's what we got :/ But I hope I'm wrong and you're right.

What I cant wrap my head around is the gaping plot hole this movie created when you look back at the original Alien movie. (I re-watched it a day after watching Covenant) So, remember when the Nostromo's crew went to investigate the signal in the original movie? When Dallas, Kane and Lambert found the corpse of the Engineer, they said he's been dead a long time - long enough for him to fossilize as if he was growing out of the chair. On taking a closer look - they say he died because something "burst out of his chest". This scene takes place immediately before they stumble on the cache of Alien eggs that were sitting directly under the ship's bridge. So if David engineered / created the xenomorphs - how can an ancient Engineer die from a chest burster? Sure, maybe it wasn't a xenomorph chestburster like we saw in Prometheus, but it feels heavily implied in the original movie. Soooo what's going on here? time travel? Or maybe David stopped by LV-426, made a queen lay hundreds of eggs under the Bridge of an Engineer ship that conveniently already had a fossilized Engineer that coincidentally died by chestburster?

MonkeyZorr Yeah, it's totally implying AVP is not canon though. Which I'm super cool with. I don't even think the Predators are considered canon in the Prometheus universe. I hope they never go in that direction because it would just be fan service as opposed to making an actual good movie.

  • @TheMimeGogo

    @TheMimeGogo

Hi guys. Yeah, I have no qualms with the AVP movies being out of canon. Ridley Scott has been vocal about his dislike for the most of, if not all the sequels / spin offs of his original Alien film. The only issue I have with Covenant (and don't get me wrong, I loved it), is that the David Xenomorph creation idea was quite the twist, but as I sat and watched on, the more it sunk in that the Aliens weren't the mysterious ancient race we perceived them to be, as they were portrayed in Ridley's own original film... It made me that feel we have to construct some logical narrative in our heads as to how the Nostromo's discovery of the eggs, the "fossilized" Engineer on LV - 426, how these things would fall into place properly. I felt bad that the shock of the twist was robbed by the nagging thought of this contradiction. But that's just me, it's my problem lol.

Well, there you go. The final xeno was created and perfected (coughed up) by David (There goes the mystery/ terrifying aspects of "Alien"). None of the engineer questions from Prometheus answered. Killed off the main protagonist in that one to make it convenient to switch story direction. Just more bait & switch. A crew even dumber than the one in Prometheus (is that even possible?!). - The Alien franchise is cooked. Sad.

Here's the thing, Ridley Scott had four whole years in between Prometheus & Covenant to figure everything out. Is he maybe just making it up as he goes? Possibly, but I prefer to think he does have a plan with an end goal he's working towards. There's three more films after Covenant. Hopefully the prequel quadrilogy & Alien 77 will link up in a way that feels right.

So, I just watched Covenant, I was so worried that I'd built it up so much that it would be a great disappointment, which was exactly what I did before I went to see the Grand Canyon, and I have to say, both were bigger and better than imagined. However, like so many of you, I too am absolutely gutted about Shaw. Especially as we get this prologue: The Crossing, where it is clear that David is developing feelings for her. I need an explanation. In my head I can make a kind of sense of it: they spent a while getting to know one another on the juggernaut, she didn't look great, and then she goes into cryosleep. Now, like David says, once again he is left alone, only this time he has what he could consider, A special friend, and she's had to leave him alone in this strange, ominous spacecraft for god knows how long. So I can imagine that David, misses their interactions immensely, whilst in the meantime he is learning all about the Engineers history. Now I refuse to believe that David was lying about his feelings for Shaw, so I think that maybe she died at some point and his grief was enough to send him hurtling into Frankenstein territory. I imagine he has tried all sorts of experiments to bring her back, and becoming more and more unstable over these ten years. I pray that the two Alan Dean Foster books that come out, at least give us some answers. I have to say Covenant was brilliant. I've never felt two hours pass so fast, I couldn't believe it was the end; a sign of a very good movie. Has anything been said about the sequel? And is this going to be Awakening, the prequel to Covenant, or has he seen sense yet? Although I would love to know what went on with David and Shaw in all this time between Prometheus and Covenant. The scene where David confronts the adult Neomorph is so moving, and when Oram, shoots it, David's reaction was so visceral, it made me jump, it was one of such pain, heartache, and fury. Fassbender, is such a great actor. I also loved the end where he coughs up the two eggs and puts them in with the human eggs. Now free to play and experiment with 2k colonists and over 1k of embryos or eggs. His very own lab. Genius. There is just one thing I have a huge issue with, having watched all the Ridley Scott interviews, he has now confirmed that it is David that is responsible for creating all the Neomorphs, and Xenomorphs, but if this is the case, then why was there that big mural in Prometheus, unless time travel has now become possible in the future? And I don't get why so many people are bigging up Danny McBride's, character. Actually, it wasn't him so much, as it was his character. I know his wife who he loves dearly is down on the planet, without communication, or any idea of what is going on other than some medical emergency, but are you telling me, that a pilot that is responsible for transporting all those colonist etc, are worth putting in danger just for the sake of a few people. Now, if I was in the same situation, I would feel exactly the same and do everything I could to get down to that planet, but it just wouldn't happen, MUTHUR forbids it, several times, but even then, Tennessee gets the other guy to partner him and override the security features! One final thing, why does a ship so vast, only have one drop ship? You'd think there would be at least two or three. That really bugged me. I know I sound like I'm slating this film but I'm not, there was much more that I loved about it, such as David's interaction with the creatures, and with Walter. I thought the cinematography and special effects were breathtaking, when that drop ship lands on the lake and you see the way the stream of water moves in response to it, is so beautiful, so too is the scene near the end when Daniels is outside the airlock trying to trap the beast with the terraforming machinery, all those tiny microbes flying through the air was beautiful. And I have to say it, I will never listen to Paolo Nutini’s, Let Me Down Easy, in the same way ever again. Finally, I can't waist for whatever path Ridley, decides to take us on. The man is a genius. Sorry for the essay guys, this is my only outlet. My Wife, said she will divorce me if I mention anything Alien related for the next 48hrs 🤐!

So disappointing. Protomorph was extremely forced. Nothing was new. The Engineer story? Fuck that they all died. We don't even see Shaw die, yet she was the most passionate character. The neomorph didn't do shit, he literally had nothing new except for being able to stand on its feet and look cool, they should've added new features and keep him til the end. And apparently there's like 10 couples and were not even sure who is with who. And the CGI...really took me out, especially the chestburster, they should've at least made a practical Neomorph when he was standing there, it would've been beautiful. Quite frankly, it was less inventive and intense than Prometheus, the deaths were so cheap and predictable, and that David plot twist, I was just waiting for it. There are good things in the movie, but the flaws I listed above were just....painful.

I just saw it. I did what any smart person would do and avoided all KZread videos in the last week. But now that I've seen it it didn't really live up to the story I had built up in my head over these last few months. I think I enjoyed the speculating more than the film itself. It was great but still felt rushed. I hope there are a lot of deleted scenes. There is hardly any real development for the characters besides Daniels and even her story felt rushed. David was brilliant but I did hope there would be more answered. It left me with more questions than answers. I hope you continue your alien videos mr h because really watching your videos has added immensely to the enjoyment that I had leading up to the film. How did the the ship have his name and serial number? I believe he's been in contact with the company over the years? The planet strangely appears after 10 years of searching? Surely concealed by the company, who, lets face it, fund and control everything in the Alien universe from the very start!

In the final scene, David helps Daniels and Tennessee to kill a Xenomorph. But David cherishes his creation. He would not let that Xenomorph get killed and he has no need to keep both humans alive. In that final scene, David pretends to be Walter only for fooling the movie-goers, for the cinematic effect. At this point, David knows that he is Michael Fassbender and that he is doing a show. In addition, the idea that synthetics can have emotions/self-awareness/self-esteem is not based on knowledge. It is a fantasy only for the show’s sake (just like Westworld). If Mr. Scott wants, Xenomorphs can have wings, too. And Iron man suits can be available as well. When one sees clearly a strange balance between different characters’ abilities and stupidity that was put into place just for the show's continuation, one can not follow the story anymore. One is reminded of the fact that it is only a show. This movie is silly.

Thanks for the review! I've been following your channel recently in the lead up to Covenant and have found it both informative and entertaining. I quickly wanted to point one thing out. "Fingering" actually is a legitimate musical term for the hand positions used in string and wind instruments. I was in band and orchestra for many years, and when learning new pieces the band director or instructors would ask the musicians to "just practice the fingering" or say things like "let's just go through the fingering". I haven't seen the film yet, but I feel like maybe Ridley didn't mean for it to be a joke. Anyway that's all, sorry if I"m pointing something out you already new, and thanks again for the review! Can't wait to see the film.

+Chris Semmelbeck I know it's a legitimate term, however the filmmakers are not stupid, they are well aware it's also an Innuendo and how it would be taken which is why it's so off putting to hear. It just didn't need to be used, another terminology would have substituted I think

Once again, a great job in detailing things. I believe that time of chest bursting depends on the nature of its safety. My theory is that the black goo is actually just Xenomorph DNA being used by the Engineers as weapons. That's why it leads to all these Xeno knockoffs when it infects people so I think the movie shows that David didn't create the Xenomorph, he just learned how to reverse engineer the black goo back to its original form. Otherwise that whole mural in Prometheus wouldn't make any sense. And if anything I think it just makes the Xeno cooler. It's still an ancient being that existed way before this and its so deadly even its DNA is a weapon and was used as such by another race.

Mr H Reviews awesome review I just want to say, not to you, of course Mr H but to so many that doubted me way back when I said that David was the creator of the Protomorph/Xenomorph and that Shaw was definitely that body, his first experiment pretty much, so many of my friends disagreed with me and were so shocked when we finally saw the movie and when I told them about it I was only able to see the movie early with two friends as a guest to a press screening but they were out right shocked that I was right all this time, this movie had its plot holes, continuity problems I really hope that there is an extended version on the Blu-ray release hopefully, because there has to be one out there, it was definitely edited down I feel to a great extent, you know me and I'm a super die-hard Alien fan, yes the movie had some issues but I believe that the franchise is back in the right hands, the father of the franchise Sir Ridley Scott, I'm happy to see it go in the direction that it is going this movie really brought me back to when I was 4 years old seeing the first Alien, and Aliens back to back at home when we rented them, the horror, suspense, thriller, action elements that sucked me in at a very young age and made me the Super Fan I am today, that gave me the love I have for these movies and this Universe, unfortunately I hate that the movie is already getting a lot of hate, negative reviews, comments, etc because of the split premieres and different screening times that it had, I feel that people are just listening to the reviews by other people and they haven't even seen the movie yet, they're not even giving it a chance for themselves to see it and make their own opinion, I've noticed a big trend on Nick's Channel, mostly well, probably younger people questioning how does this movie tie-in to AVP and the events of that movie LOL, how stupid it is that David created the first Xenomorph, etc etc etc I can't help but laugh as I suppose most people don't understand that Ridley Scott absolutely hates those movies. They mean absolutely nothing to him and Alien is his baby, this is his story and he's going to tell it the way he wants to tell it, I still definitely think that David will somehow incorporate either his artificial DNA or maybe even engineered DNA from the Engineers and they're biomechanical suits to make the perfect life form, to perfect his work and make the classic biomechanical Xenomorph that we all know, I was a little upset about the pacing of this movie. I did feel that it was too fast and then it left a lot of stuff out that could've been answered/addressed easily and at times of course I thought to myself Why some of the characters not question this or that when it was so blatantly obvious like with Oram and David, David's haircut, etc but I digress I loved the movie when it gets its solid release in the US I'm going to see it probably twice. It was everything that I expected it to be with a few minor issues, I say 8/10 and in my opinion the best Alien movie since Aliens... so my new 3rd favorite in the Series 😎👍☠

So maybe I missed something, but what happened to the second neomorph? They didn't kill one while they were small, and later it shows one squatting in the necropolis and another climbing the wall. Was that supposed to be the same neomorph shown in two different places seconds apart, or was the second one simply forgotten? They only showed 1 of the two die.

I usually start at 10/10 for a movie review and just subtract a point whenever there is something I dont like: * I'll do the fingering (Such dialogue has no place in a dark and serious alien movie) 9/10 * Breaching quarantine when u can see a hostile lifeform inside, (and then slipping on the blood like a teenager) not pro 8/10 * Shaw offscrean death, no satisfying explanation (slap in the face) 7/10 * No satisfying explanation for the prometheus cliffhanger (slap in the face) 6/10 * Friday the 13th cliche shower scene (sex under music when all your friends just died?) 5/10 * Illogical behaviour of characters (You dont follow an android ANYWHERE after your wife and friends just got killed by his creations and he admitted it) 4/10 * Illogical behaviour (You dont split up after being attacked by hostile aliens) 3/10 * David is the creator of the xenomorph? (Nah not buying that) 2/10 Theres probably more but I cant be arsed :D

Personally I reject this idea that the fans are to blame for the change of direction or apparent mistakes made with Covenant, that the "whiners" and "bitchers" are to blame for this movie being bad (or at the very least not living up to the hype) because we didn't "get" Prometheus. First of all, no one put a gun to Ridley Scott's head and told him he MUST appeal to the fanboys, even if it means compromising his "vision" for the sake of making the fans happy. In fact I personally find it incredibly odd that a director of Scott's caliber would be so concerned about what fanboys think in the first place. Yes, I understand the studio needs to make money or there is no movie, but I have to question this market research they allegedly did. Sounds to me like they simply listened to the loudest voices on the internet, those ones I keep hearing about who were complaining simply because there were no xenomorphs or gore, and ignored everyone else who mostly took issue with the crew's bizarre and almost nonsensical/stupid behavior, among other things that were simply absurd (personally I thought the scene where Shaw birthed the trilobite was a little over-the-top, and probably came off to most people as being kind of funny instead of horrifying like it was originally intended, at least that's how I felt about it anyway). I went into Prometheus genuinely wanting to like it, not as an Alien fanboy. I was aware there were no xenomorphs from a review I'd read beforehand, which was disappointing but I still wanted to give it a chance. Though admittedly it is kinda odd that Scott would try to hammer into our heads that Prometheus isn't an Alien film, has nothing to do with Alien and is a completely different story etc., when the first and only trailer I saw for Prometheus was cut exactly like the original trailers for Alien, complete with the chilling alien wail/scream in between images flashing on screen of people screaming or being burned by acid. Seemed like a bit of a disconnect there in my opinion, or a blatant attempt to mislead people into thinking this had more to do with "Alien" than it was meant to. As you can imagine I didn't like it, for all the same reasons that have been driven into the ground at this point... I went online and looked into it more, trying to figure out what the hell went wrong, and then it started to make sense. The script went through some revisions and they had multiple people re-writing it because Fox freaked out and didn't want any mention of eggs or xenomorphs in the film, apparently because the AVP movies weren't well-liked and they apparently thought the same thing Scott claimed, that the Alien was pretty much done, "cooked", it wasn't scary or interesting and people didn't want it anymore (as opposed to those movies just being shit). I think the movie mostly suffered from that, and sub-par writing due to too many cooks in the kitchen (also, if I'm not mistaken, Damon Lindelof of Lost was involved in the final draft, which is also very telling and probably one of the main reasons people walked out of the theater with more questions than answers). The end result was a movie that had promise, but ultimately failed to deliver, and in a lot of places just didn't make much sense. I hated Prometheus when it came out because I genuinely didn't think it was a good movie. It looked good, the cinematography was beautiful, I liked the effects, but it was kind of a mess otherwise. Had no problem with the Engineers or the story exploring the origins of humanity, I just think it could have been better, and the way the crew behaved really took me out of it. I was actually curious to see how Shaw's story might end and see more of the Engineers (maybe some explanation of what the creature is on the painted mural, the weird biomechanoid with the beak), but Fox and Scott apparently didn't want to take that chance. It really is a shame, and I don't think that's necessarily OUR fault. Prometheus had a negative reception because it was a highly flawed film, not because people were too stupid to "get" the plot or because they were simple-minded and just wanted to see the Alien killing shit. Yeah, SOME people were definitely of that mind, but I would call them a vocal minority if anything. Fox kinda did that before with the AVP movies, it seems. Now clearly they weren't going to be very "deep" storywise, but it would have been pretty fun and entertaining just to see the famous comic book mash-up on the big screen. It failed because it went in a weird direction, being set on Earth in the present day instead of taking place in space and throwing the Colonial Marines into the mix (which the fans absolutely love), but it seems like Fox mostly just heard people bitching about the PG-13 rating and lack of blood, gore, and violence in general, and so we get a sequel that continues to take place in the modern day, on Earth, in Anytown, USA, which makes the whole thing feel much more like a B-movie than this collision of two huge sci-fi franchises...which was what people hated the most about the first one...and thought they would make things better by simply turning the violence up to 11 and throwing in more cute references to the other movies. Didn't really work out well that time, either. I won't get to see Covenant yet until this Friday, but it sounds like they probably made the same mistakes with Covenant that they made with Prometheus, and it's just going to leave people walking out of the theater asking MORE questions, and going on yet again about how stupid everyone in the film was and how nothing they did made any fucking sense, etc. That ended up being way longer than I planned on, I'm sorry.

MR H. I have not heard anyone ask this question which is absolutely baffling me. Does the movie explain what became of the 'scorpion' docking ship that David and the juggernaut dock with? Is the Scorpion still just floating out there, elsewhere away from the citadel, patiently waiting for the next juggernaut ship to summon it to provide a docking platform? Or as I suspect, it's fate is not discussed or revealed, leaving another huge question mark?

I'm tired of modern lazy writers spewing out scripts with whole plot points that make no sense. In the original ALIEN movie, the crew wore spacesuits and Ripley would not let her fellow crew members on board because an unknown alien creature was attached to the face of Kane. In ALIEN Covenant, the crew could have used their ROVs or even sent the android, Walter, out to take atmospheric readings and see if there were any hazards to human life. I know they had Dr. Elizabeth Shaw's message, but they still should have followed some kind of scientific guidelines. They are part of a colonizing ship and would primarily be made up of a host of different types of scientists. I wish the writers of Prometheus and now ALIEN Covenant would not write for the audience like we are all stupid, drooling, idiotic morons who have never seen the first film. Think about it. The first film was a massive success and is a classic. We wouldn't have these newer movies if ALIEN had bombed and was written to the lowest common denominator of the movie-going audience. Why do I feel ripped off? Ridley Scott has made some of the best movies to have ever graced theater screens, but he isn't holding his script writers to a high enough standard. I despised AVP and AVP Requiem, but Prometheus and Alien Covenant are being made by the master film maker who started it all with ALIEN. Why does he not see the audience potentially groaning at the crew separating several times on an alien planet after horrible things have already happened to their fellow crew members? The whole story has moments that made me slap my palm to my forehead and groan in disbelief. This shit is derivative and LAME! Sorry Sir Scott, but the movie looks like it cost a lot, but when you can't even get the scale of the Space Jockey seat area right, then you are screwing with Giger's vision and HR Giger's art is what made ALIEN work. You can't fix it now... unless you say there were different sizes of engineers throughout their history of manipulating DNA and life itself. Also, how can David have created the Xenomorph, when there was clearly a mural with a Xenomorph (or something that's visually very close to one) on the wall in the chamber with the giant Engineer's head and vases of the black goo. Funny that the room with the statue of a giant Engineer head also contained an actual Engineer's decapitated head. For such a technologically advanced society you'd think they'd invent doors with sensors. Oh wait! The Engineers actually had better protocols for protecting themselves from biological threats that they wore suits and had doors that slammed shut... yet the humans see a hologram that shows the Engineers ran from something threatening to their lives and the humans still chose to leave their helmets off. lol No logic. I suggest you hire a script editor who won't be afraid of being fired who will put your next script to the logic test. All that said... thank you for ALIEN... not so much for Prometheus and Covenant.

Great review. With every morsel of information I'm trying to figure out how this plays into the original "Alien". It blows my mind. How does Charlize Theron character frm Prometheus plays into this. David called her "mother". Was she a droid that had sex with Idris? Will she experiment? Is Ripely one of the colonist on board in the end in cryosleep or is it a relative of Ripely? Are any of the colonist in cryosleep "Newts" relatives from "Aliens"? Every morsel of new info trying to piece in to the larger picture. The best part about stories like this is that it gives such dept to the original movie "Alien". Mother means more. The miners mean more. The alien means so much more now. This is the ultimate flattery Sir Ridley Scott can give to himself, H.R. Giger and Xenomorph.

. 'SHES DEAD' so blunt, love it. I was crying with laughter. Keep up the awesome work dude. I really enjoyed the film, bar its minor faults. However I think many of the faults have been left this way to leave Ridley Squat the option to retcon at his will. At first I hated the 'fingering' dialogue but the more I think about it, do you think it was to show their 'synthetic' minds? Even with David going further down the rabbit hole and becoming mad and more 'emotional' they are still not human. So It was used as a tool to show the differences between the crew and the synthetics. The crew joked about each others wives etc so would have sniggered at such a comment...but a synthetic wouldn't get it? Either that or Ridley thought it needed some unnecessary humour! Really enjoyed then movie, I hope that there will be an extended edition although I know Ridley isn't mad on director cuts etc. But I think they could treat the hardcore fans with the DVD release and explain a lot more and hopefully give shaw a send off she deserves!

Maybe I just didn't catch it, but I am pretty sure that the out-of-place fingering joke was not included in the german translation that I saw - so that's a plus! As for the answers about Shaw, Engineers and so on... I don't mind a lot of things being left open because to me, this whole story is about the Androids- those are the central part of what is happening and that's fine. There's a lot of potential for stories with engineers and so forth and the movie neither explores this potential nor does it remove this potential. Stories about an engineer civil war, about other colonies and creatures, are still possible in the alien universe...they are just not what the franchise is focussing on right now and that's fine. I'd be upset if the movie would close doors on opportunities for good sidestories, but so far, this didn't happen. The universe is still very much open to all kinds of additions anyone could think of and once Ridley Scott is done with his movie series, I expect we might possibly see some of these themes explored in the future.

Sadly, I think Ridley's decisions were based on the fact that many Prometheus detractors 'missed' the Xenomorphs. So he essentially erased the importance/relevance of the engineers (and unceremoniously bumped off Shaw ala Hicks and Newt) and gave us what was familiar which is Xenomorphs and the shitty, sketchy Weyland Corporation and their shitty, sketchy androids, all in an attempt to make up for the lack of Xenomorphs in Prometheus. I didn't really like everything either but I do give him the benefit of the doubt because he listened to some fans and tried to improve. Since I never cared about the lack of Xenomorphs seeing as how it was a FU-CKING PREQUEL about their genesis, I had no issue and didn't really need a sequel to just hammer in Xenomorphs. I had faith that these new films could work without Xenomorphs for Xenomorphs sake...

So they took one of the most iconic sci-fi creatures in cinema history and basically turned it into "Hur dur! One of the most dangerous creature's ever encountered in space was created by a rogue robot that was created by man! LOL!" Nevermind the fact that this tidbit contradicts the mural in Prometheus. What a crock of shit. And the David/Walter switch? Who honestly didn't see that coming? All that hype man...what a fucking let down...

+WarlockX4 that creation part I dislike, for sure, as for the mural it's difficult to say if it contradicts it yet. The black pathogen still leads to Xeno looking life and it's likely they knew that, the film isn't without its problems for sure! Which are all very plain to see, over all I did enjoy it even with a week to mull it over

We know that David is disappointed by his own creator. He probably doesn't care much about the Engineers either. He's a rogue AI with a God complex at this stage, now that Weyland is no longer around. "Doesn't everyone want their parents dead?" What I took from Covenant was that David definitely plays a role in the perfection of Xeno, through his experiments, but ultimately he's usurped the development of the Pathogen from the Engineers. Meaning that the pathogen certainly tends towards creating Xeno type species, but it's through David's tinkering that the final 'perfect life form' is achieved. It seems plausible that he viewed it as some high honour for Shaw to be a part of that process, rather than anything malicious, when you consider his cold internal logic and idiosyncratic programming. So I don't think the film was saying that David, with Shaw's body, was where the Xeno came from. I think it was saying that David had taken over something the Engineers already started. He obviously wants humans and engineers gone, so he can rule the universe as the creator of the perfect life form. He didn't care about getting answers from them about why they changed their minds about humans, because he has no respect for humans. He's just taking over their second attempt at creation, and, in his view, perfecting it.

Yes the mural! Still unexplained. Covenant felt so rushed. In interviews Ridley was saying, "this film will answer everything". It didn't answer anything. It still didn't answer where the eggs came from. My dream was to have shaw become a queen. That would have been an amazing reveal.

Thank you for saying Shaw was dissected. I've heard people saying she released the first chestburster. That is definitely a dissection.

Well to be fair, it was the general chest area and quickly shown. I kinda got that vibe too. Not a huge leap to think she was a host to some stage of gross lol

Why did the juggernaut crash land after David had deployed the black goo? Did shaw do it? Or did the larger engineer mother shop hovering over the temple fire back st the juggernaut, causing it to crash land - suggests that some engineers in the mother ship might have survived and gone back to their homeworld paradise? If not, why the need for the big mother ship to begin with ? It must be there for a surprise else why waste time and money in creating it?

Ughhh David did not make the Xeno its shown on those murals in the ampules room with a more pure Xenomorph form I'm Jesus pose I smell a lot of convenient studio script interference here in the name for mainstream net fishing

+Nick Mattio unfortunately Ridley has confirmed he did...... The mural could quite literally just be a Xeno like creature. Nothing was confirmed, but Ridley has said it. Don't want him to be the creator but the evidence is stacked against anything else

Is it just me or is the Alien franchise becoming the "Lost" of the film world in that it seems to throw more questions than answers. I did like the film especially the Neomorph, but it seems so unfair that Shaws story should end like that. I hope they will explain in prequel to this what happened to her. I also found the end disturbing (when Daniels finds out it David before she goes to sleep)
