@dada92ize Hmm it is a question that's been debated a lot. I personally think she had feelings for Uncas, but was also confused and scared. For someone like Alice what she had been through had made her retreat into herself, which is why I think she clutched at Uncas' comfort in the waterfall scene. I think seeing him coming for her, fighting for her made her feelings stronger which made her want to be as brave as he was and also be with him in that last moment.

WOW! Fantastic, emotional video. Beautifully edited and set to a perfect song. Eric Schweig said that they actually had a love scene at the falls that was cut from the movie. Someone didn't know what they were doing when they edited that scene out!

Actually, Eric Schweig is the best in these scenes - awesome character I can barely see Cora Just to clarify- I love Madeleine Stowe, but Uncas - OMG he is so badass!!!

What a great song I wish things had turn out better.

I've seen all the videos for these two, and I have to agree with all those who say this one is the best. It was incredibly moving, and you very artfully integrated the right clips with the right parts of the song to build the tragic ending up to one that was incredibly powerful both visually and musically. And teeger66's comment: "Romeo and Juliet ending to a love that never was! If death is beautiful...then this qualifies. Even Magua looks away at the last moment." I agree. Magua might have been cold-hearted after his life was destroyed, but there was enough humanity left in him still that he could see that he had killed Alice on the inside before she ever jumped, and the emptiness in her eyes--I think he felt that it reflected his own brokenness and in that moment there was regret. If you look, after she jumps (when it's playing in real time and not edited at all), right before he turns away wearing that stoic expression, you see this flicker in his eyes and some movement like he might have actually wanted to cry--but obviously badass villains, especially in savage settings like that when you're the leader of people you need to respect you, can't give in to feelings like that. But *damn* I love that it got to even him, that was like revenge even before Chingachgook (sp?) ever killed him, because I bet afterward that would have been a memory he'd felt guilty over forever. And *that look* that people refer to... Yeah, the one Alice gives him... I am not surprised he reached out to her although he was supposedly heartless by then. I couldn't do anything to a girl who looked at me like that, like 'You killed my soul'. I think it would take the Devil, and not some mere human being, to completely disregard that level of anguish. Even most psychopaths have some level of connection that can be tapped into under the right circumstances. I think the worst of serial killers would have lowered that knife too.

Wow, this video is really beautiful! I love Alice and Uncas so much. I find their love so terribly tragic because they never really got the chance to be together. Everything that happened between them was so subtle during the movie. Anyway, I almost cried watching this vid. You portrayed their feelings really well with the editing and your song choice was just amazing. Good luck with the contest!

Its a fantastic video! I have already watched lots of video about them, but this is the best. I saw the film lot of times, i know all scenes, but i feel that i saw something more in this video.

This is an amazing video and the music is brilliant i can't stop watching it . i have the music on my phone have burnt it to disc and am totally hooked on it!!!!! . uncas is totally gorgeous and the love he had for Alice went without saying , as was her love for him. ps he is on my phone screensaver, wallpaper, turn off mode and turn on mode lol

There was a love scene in the script but it was cut from filming as Jodhi May's mother did not like the idea, Jodhi was only 16 at the time. The scene was cut down to a kiss at the waterfall but this was cut from the final film. So yes, there is a scene of them kissing and actually a lot more scenes between them that were edited out in favour of the Hawkeye/Cora romance. I am unsure if it would have been better to keep it in, many people like the lack of in your face love between these two.

Also I don't think she thought her life was in immediate danger as up until that point she had not been threatened just lead along the path, so I don't think she really jumped out of pure fear. But perhaps she did think Uncas was also her last hope. It could have been a number of things that caused her to jump, her feelings for Uncas, not knowing what became of the others and her sister and the mental damage of seeing all the horrors of war and hatred. I could talk about thsi all day though haha

Yes, they were.

I think it stinks that they cut out the scenes where alice and uncas made love in the cave ,it should have happened right after uncas grabbed her back away from the water fall . also they cut out where Hawkeye asked cora if she was going back to england and she said what for ? no one left there and then he asked her if she would be his wife . That would have been so cool to see all of this but no it ended up on the cutting room floor .

I think Uncas should have accepted his father,s help to free Alice and kill Maguas....he would not have died i hate Wes Studi he has such a bad face he get the mean part....Pawner in Dance with Wolfe's Last of the Mohican

well if you think about it she might have thought that she would be treated no better than an animal by magua and she was right . If you study history some indian tribes who stole white women were not very good to them and beat them and enslaved them . i mean look at how they tied them up and took them even though they were not fighting being taken and I think alice took her cue from cora and she did what Nathaniel told her to do . Stay alive . .
