Algebra - Simplifying Radicals (part 2)
I want you to find this if you're looking, so, what we're doing is called Simplifying Radicals, or Simplifying Square Roots. Specifically, we cover how to take the square root of variables, as well as how to simplify (aka "rationalize") square roots in the denominator. YAY MATH!

Only math videos that I can understand and make the whole way through. I used to not like how you can hear his students in every video but now I like it because they ask a lot of "obvious" questions that I'm wondering myself lol. Most math teachers don't think of clarifying some simple things so it's nice that most of the things I'm wondering myself are usually asked and answered. Also, I like how he is always very respectful when answering these "obvious" questions. A lot of teachers get frustrated, which is understandable, but I don't think I've ever seen this teacher get frazzled.

The classroom has a very respectful atmosphere, but the students are the center of attention here. I feel like in this video he is reviewing the general concepts before they will be taking a test.
yeah this guy is a miracle first i actually understood the whole thing second he is ((a fun math teacher)) yeah that is like IMPOSSIBLE
I come here after my math class to learn math.
These are very helpful, especially when you're absent a day from school and miss part of the lesson :D Keep up the good work
I am 35 yrs old and watching this for my math class. We are doing Radicals. I was so lost. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I want to cry. I wish everyone taught like this. Numbers are confusing for me.
What is wrong with me? Why are your videos making me enjoy math!?

This dude is the GOAT
Honestly I’m 26 years old and back to college and having the first formal math class in over a decade. I really am so sad I didn’t have a teacher like you when I was younger. I hated math and I felt like I wasn’t as smart as my friends cause I just couldn’t understand what our teacher were was saying. Watching these as an adult has made me appreciate mathematics so much more than I ever thought possible. Thank you so much for this content @yaymath

yaymath how would z to the 100th be 50 sqaure root of z
@jethrolawson5380
9 жыл бұрын
+yaymath with ur 2 over 2 square root 3 couldn't u just cancel out the 2 on the top and bottom leaving u with only square root 3?
@ronmason4306
8 жыл бұрын
+lexbogie1 The 50 square root of z is the reduced version of z to the 101st. He took the 100th and multipied by 1/2 to get rid of the square root. That gave him the 50, then he multiplied by the square root of z left over inside.
Every time i have a question some kid asks it, and I'm like "Oh thank God". These vids are awesome man!
UGH THANK YOU SO MUCH I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THIS FOR SO LONG THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Due to everything going on, my middle school is online teaching. Luckily, my math teacher sent us parts one and two of this. This was much easier to understand than I was expecting! I'm subscribing right now.
i was struggling over my math homework and i couldn't even rationalize where to start. your videos make so much sense to me. thank you
I wish you are my Math teacher. Sigh~~~
This video helped my with my college statistics class, thanks man!
I have a good and chill math teacher but I haven't had math in a week bc of testing (on testing days we can't move classes until everyone finishes testing even if we aren't the ones testing) and I have my algebra eoc tomorrow so I rlly needed this
I love these videos and I'm studying to be a teacher too. However, these have made me realize I do NOT want to teach teenagers lol.
Dude you are the best!! Every teacher in the world should have to watch and match your enthusiasm!!
ha.. I wish you were my professor!! new subbie!!
Thx man, my Math Teacher told me about you and she told me to check this channel out. Its great, thx for helping me out.
Gosh your so helpful, I wish in my over 20 years of education a math teacher took the time to help me understand math the way you do with your students
Your wonderful. I've spent so much money on tutors, you've clarified a lot for me in just one of these.
Man it’s a good thing I found this because if I hadn’t I would’ve gone into my algebra test on radicals knowing absolutely nothing, (the test is tomorrow) and I’ve been trying to get these down for two weeks. Couldn’t do it. Got every single review question wrong. And I’ve learned more in 30 minutes than I did in those 2 weeks

I would pay to have you as my teacher!
You just saved my academic life. Thanks :D
What school does this guy teach @? because I wanna enroll there!
I have a quiz on this tomorrow. Thank you for helping me
Thank God for you .You're a great Teacher .
I understand now my algebra teacher a bad teacher no offense 😬😬but this guy he makes it fun and he makes me understand it more
Thank you this helped.
@ Humberto Madrigal I think the answer is 9x^3y^10 to the square root of 2x
THANK YOU FOR THIS!
Thank you very much sir
7:00 - 12:00 Rationalizing the denominator!
I understand the whole thing. I wish my algebra teacher is like him.
when you asked for any questions about the top of the fraction, 15:07 of the vid, how did you get the 4-2sqrt of 3?
your a great teacher
THANK YOU SO MUCH !
Good teaching!!
Thank for teaching. Sayar!
3:54 i get that if you have Y * Y with exponents you add the exponents but what if it is Y * X with exponents? what do you do?
very clear thank you sir :D
Great!
The only way to get such scenarios is where the root is of a perfect square anyway, so the solution is to just solve for the square root (in this case, the root of 4 is 2). The answer in this case would just be 3/4.
ohhh😇😇 student seem so happy to have u as their teacher....
In 11:27, you can simplify (6 radicale 3/3)? How
Thats what i was refering to, "what he was talking about"... not the original question. so if his technique doesn't work there, what do you do?
LOVE MATH!!!!!! YES.......I LOVE MATH
goof job thank u soo much
question: may i subtract the answer 4-2squareroot of 3 just like 2squareroot of 3
@yaymath hello, I'm a little confused about the perfect square part, where did 3 and 49 come from? Just because 3 is the root of the perfect square?
@haleyanne447
5 жыл бұрын
hi, this is a late response lol but if you still don’t know the answer I’ll be happy to help u! 49 and 3 is there because when you multiply them, you get 147.
Looking at 2/(2+sq.rt.3) and the lesson on Rational Exponents, how come the problem and (2+sq.rt.3)^-2 aren't mutually equivalentl? I remember that negative powers turned into fractions such as the problem, but why doesn't that solve the answer? The root isn't in the denominator any more. :/ Is it because we're simplifying and not solving, or am I totally missing something?
in the end of the video you write down an example that you don't solve and I tried it myself but I'm not sure. Correct me if I'm wrong but is the answer 3/4? I got the square root of 4 and added it to the 2 or do you still have to do the whole negative twin thing?
No, because the root of 4 is 2. The denominator becomes 2 + 2 = 4. However, under what he was talking about, yes, because the root of 4 - 2 is 0, so you would be multiplying the denominator by 0, which you can't do
doesn't necesarily need to be a perfect square, it could be square root of 5 + whatever digit is the actual square root of 5. then you would pass right through that step without ever realizing you put a zero in the denominator. (unless you know the square root of 5 off hand.)
awesome
Your my hero
That is totally Radical dude!!!
teacher is fun and goes slow into the de concepts. good looking too. ;)
where 3z came from? reply, thx
yaaaymaath! yaaaaaymath!
if you do the last one... doesn't that leave you with a zero in the denominator? (4^1/2+2)(4^1/2+2) = 4 -2^1/2+2^1/2-4 = 0?
where did you get the 3Z inside the square root (in the final answer)
i think all of us want this guy as our teacher
I wish I was in this class lol so much fan thanks man for this channel

what happened to the 48?
6:40 lol
What grade level is this?
ohp never mind I see you just foiled it. haha
I tho 7 can't be simplified anymore?
at 16:40 aren't you suppose to subtract 2 from 4 so the final answer is 2 square root of 3?
@DarkForce852
9 жыл бұрын
I know this is a late reply but you can't do that because they're not like terms. If it was 4 root 3 minus 2 root 3 then you would get 2 root 3. You can ONLY add or subtract like terms.
