I read somewhere his father thought he was too dark. That’s why I get so annoyed when people say “it’s just a preference”. Colorism is rooted in slavery and that’s just it.

Petion Haiti is the current Haiti that you see. Yes, he gave people land but no education. Petion Haiti was drastically poorer than Henri’s side. He did helped others fight for freedom . However, those same countries never returned the favor. Many still look down on Haitian until this day

A young Henri Christophe served as a drummer boy in Les Chaussers Volunteer, a unit in the French Army made up of free coloreds that fought on the side of the revolution during the American Revolution, that fought in the Siege Of Savannah Georgia. There's a monument to that unit in Savannah.

Not well known but Petion provided military arms and soldiers to Mexican rebels in their fight for independence from Spain. Once Mexico gained it's independence, they conspired with Haiti to invade Cuba, which at the time was the last Spanish stronghold in the region.

Petition father raised him and France where he learned to have the mindset of a colonizer and he returned back to Haiti later in his life time and got involved with the revolution

17:22 your theory is correct, Zoe. However, Henri Christophe was supposed to be the successor once they eliminate JJ Dessalines. I forgot what Petion was supposed to get in this deal, I guess behind his mind he had the idea that once they assassinate Dessalines, because he probably couldn't have done it on his own, then it will be easy for him to get rid of Henri and he'll be the main man on the seat. He was giving these generals black or mixed land (for favors) so he can overthrow Henri from the North, like a cheating s'election'. Henri got word that he was plotting to take control of the whole island so he quickly declared himself king "of the North" while Petion was "president for life" in the south part of Haiti. We've been problematic "politically" from the very start of Hayti.

I want to visit Haiti so bad. I want to vacation. I want to observe the traditions outside of Christianity. When you said something on the lines of Haiti isn’t that bad. I was thinking Either way I am still coming. I am not Haitian. I am Black. But, I feel Haitian in my spirit. I believe people are either born of being of the spirit or the flesh or both. Like the merovingian. Blood lines/ Spirit Lines. My visions are WILD!!!! It is crazy when I hear/read about Haiti I get visions of the past. When I get my money setup. I AM GOING TO HAITI!!! I think I will take my Mom. My Mom needs a vacation on my dime. I hope she meets someone interesting :) I need to Meet a Oungan & Bokor. I am struggling with my Dual Natures. Being both Oungan & Bokor. I’m like….I am not from Haiti. I am arguing with the Spirits/Guardians as to why I can’t be a Oungan. They was not trying to hear that. They just want me to accept it. I’m like….Bokor yes….. But,….. The Spirits/Guardians went silent. They are apparently done with the conversation. They want me to realize it on my own. They are not about to go back and forth with me.

Sometimes I think I could run a country & then I just know I'll be assassinated👀, bc I'd legit make every politician donate 35% of their salaries to the economy, in order to lower taxes on the working class👀

@@ChroniclesofaZoe 👀you think Haitian and American politics is bad, have you seen South Africa. These mfs live large & in charge. F up the country & send their kids overseas. 35% of their salary is nothing to them. They spend that on lavish dinners and fancy cars. Now we're trying to fix the economy. Their bs caused an increase in crime. Tax is one of the highest in the world.

He had an ulterior motive. He wanted to crumble the north. Henry Christophe made the people in the north work, a little too hard and they will try to leave the north and go to the south. Petion actually cheated to become president. According to succession, it really was supposed to be Henri Christophe to rule after the emperor Jean jacques Dessalines got assassinated. Which kind've served Henri Christophe right because it is said that he collaborated with Petion to kill Jean Jacques Dessalines so then Henri can be president then Petion double crossed him and did some ish buying people off (giving land) in order to get their vote as the next president. The south was all about wasting money away whereas, the north ruled by Henri was working their butt off.

One thing I strongly dislike about Henri Christophe and Jean-Jacques Dessalines is the two of them leading 40,000 Haitian troops into Captaincy General of Santo Domingo and massacred a large number of Dominican people. That situation is known as the Beheadings of Moca.
