He went from a slave to revolutionary leader to emperor. Imagine how great Haiti would have been today if Haiti remained as an empire. Haiti and Mexico both proved that republicanism is not compatible with their nations.

That’s confusing. Toussaint arrested in 1802 and deported to France. And now you’re telling us DESSALINES was served under TOUSSAINT leading the battle of VETIÈRES November 18, 1803…you’re playing smart to confuse people about Haitian history

From early January 1804 until 22 April 1804, dessalines and squads of soldiers moved from house to house throughout Haiti, torturing and killing entire families. Between 3,000 to 5,000 people were killed. In parallel to the killings, plundering and rape also occurred. Women and children were generally killed last. White women were "often raped or pushed into forced marriages under threat of death. After that he demanded that all blacks work either as soldiers to defend the nation or as labourers on the plantations to raise crops and help sustain the nation. His forces were strict in enforcing this, to the extent that some blacks felt as if they were again enslaved. 2 years later he was assassinated by his own men and then dismembered his body, all while celebrating "the tyrant is dead"

@@each1teach1academy43 I have no idea where you heard that from. They never returned to the French, they went into civil war on who would rule Haiti. They didn't sale him out, he continued force labor even though he "abolished" it. Also the genocide where against women and children, these where also towards people who had no part in slave trades, this included beheading children, and raping and murdering the woman.
