Very cool pen design but why on earth would the maker use a $10 nib? thanks for an excellent review!

A $595 Jowo nib that performs “just fine”. I think that says it all. Great review anyway. Thanks David.

A twist cap when supposed to be reminiscent of drawing an arrow makes no sense, should have been a snap cap. I also don’t understand why they would make a “luxury” pen and put a steel nib on it.

Thanks for showing us a unique design. I love innovation. If it were available without a nib and for 300 I’d put my own gold nib in it.

Hou this ink compares to noodler's habanero? it seems to be very close on the video.

Nice review David! Would you say this is about the size of a sharpie? Since I don’t have any of the other pens I’m looking for something standard to compare it to. Thank you kindly.

Oh I love House of the Rising Sun so much too! Its been the only ink in my Opus 88 since I bought both the ink and the pen at the Chicago show last year.

I like the idea for the design better than its execution.

I appreciate when makers come with new designs. But I’m with you $600 and steel nib, not for me.

Egads, not only a steel nib, but stock plain with no branding. I'd like to know how many people who think this is a cool and innovative design would actually plunk down their own $600 for one. I venture to say I believe not very many. 🧐

"stock plain with no branding"? What? That describes a lot of beautiful pens in fact branding is often not welcome and that resin isn't plain to my eyes. There is the medallion on the cap. But I agree putting a $20 nib on this pen is odd; however, it is beautiful in person and someone who can afford a unique and very limited edition pen would not have a problem having that modded Stylosuite Harpoon X-Wing flex-nib added (it's offered when ordering). Then this would be a fine addition to a pen collection.

I'm not as offended by this as some seem to be. Yes, the price is high, especially for that nib, but they only made a few. Duboc has obviously determined that this is what his time was worth. That said, I like the cap on this because of the Gabon ebony. I'd likely substitute the nib for something else, but the one point I will agree on is that the storage mechanism is painfully generic. At 595$, I just don't know...

I bought it with the Stylosuite XWing Extra Fine Italic nib. Maybe a regret, but I know I love the nib.

For me, there is too little of the Arrow and quiver theme in this Design. And qc seems a bit low ... It is a nice looking acrylic (with a piece of mop on the end), ok, and a wooden cap of a not so common Wood ... But, If you compare this to a Ryan Krusac Design ... sorry, AD, you are out ... 😉

Well, I guess he does not have to sell many of these pens to make a living! Seriously, we live in a global market. If, in some way, the pen can be marketed effectively worldwide, then perhaps there is a market. On the other hand (as said, it is a world market), I love the artistry of the new Wancher approach, which puts maki-e in the range of $300 (and higher with a gold nib). I did not even watch how this pen writes. For me, the price is unreasonable.

I think it needs more than a generic gold nib to make it worth this price. To me this is basically a kit pen with interesting materials, and no effort at all put into the nib or the ink storage system. You said you have reviewed this pen because a seller sent it to you to review. I hope you had more reason than that for including this on your influential channel.
