"Defence is an art" sums it up perfectly, With defenders roles changing nowadays and becoming more of playmakers that build the attacks from the back, also how they get involved in the other roles, I feel we'll never see this type of defenders again in football, such a class defender, his tackle is the cleanest I've seen, when i watch him i feel defense is an art in itself that is entertaining, I'm not a milan fan but i grew up idolising nesta and maldini since i played as a defender when i was a kid, me and my friend used to call ourselves maldini and nesta and try to lockdown opponents, football before social media was way different, these guys were like gods for us as kids we only saw them on the pitch via TV or magazines
The only defender i saw at age 37 making a clean tackle on prime messi 2012 one of the best defenders ever !

@@SSS11859 nah... Even Lampard, Seedorf, Ballack, Kaka, etc. used to play defensive midfield though they are attacker. That dosent they are deffensive player. In Milan he have Stamp and Nesta in the mid and Nesta and Cannavaro in Italy in CB. Maldini will always be remembered as the Greatest LB of all time. Yeah he can even play in CB and a sweeper too. But his Legacy is in LB

He was not really prone to big injuries but he would always miss games due to small ones. Never in his career, not a single season, he ever played 80% of his team's games. This was due to him permanently dealing his entire career with little injuries. He didn't have much big injuries in his career but the 2006 world cup is not the only case of it. He pretty much missed the entire 2008-2009 season due to an injury. He was 32yo though so it's not really similar to Ronaldo fenomeno whose main issue with injuries is he had them at a pretty young age so before he could actually reach his full potential.

I think after signing for Milan Nesta learnt thing or 2 from Maldini While Maldini is more physical Nesta was more agile and fast, at the time when they played together.

Take neymar out the team. Also much better options than Busquets. Goalies are preferences but I'd take Buffon.

@excessive356 actually I did change my mind a little but. I would use take out Neymar, and use R9 as a winger on the left and put in Suarez as a striker. Busquets is the best option if you want to keep the ball. Best cdm of his generation. You can keep Casemiro, Kane, Rijkaard, and Makelele and give me Busquets any day of the week!! And btw all of these positions are preferences. Give me your best 11!
