Still watching 3 years later. This performance alone should have deemed AA the winner. IMO, quite possibly the best performance ever on AI all things considered, with it being an original, his piano playing, lyrics and the voice control in the singing. I'm still shocked we don't hear his originals on the radio. To bad, AI becomes of a popularity contest rather than a skill contest or he'd have won by a large margin. Layne was good, but this guy is in a league all his own and should have won.

He should have been the American Idol 2019. Though Lane Hardy is also a good singer but the many talents and originality of this guy is such amazing. For me he is truly an American Idol.

The votes worked for the best for him. Now, he can do his own thing. A I has Laine all over the place, he's going to have to do as they say. It happened to last year's winner.

AI & Disney can gladly HAVE control over Laine, his image, his music, his events, as well as; a large percentage of his $. And have him under a strict contract, for God only knows how many years! Alejandro now has complete control over his musical career, and whom he chooses for a record label, & to work with in the future. I bet his inboxes, email & phone are (and have been) blowing up as we speak!

ShiloM. I have just gotten off Instagram. All of upcoming concerts are selling out in seconds & minutes. They are having a problem with scalpers. He has been performing on Instagram. I lv it.

Such a generational talent. Even the great Lionel R got emotional about this amazing young man. May he have unparalleled success.

This song is sooo soothing

I could listen to him on repeat all day long and never tire of his voice. He is so much more than just a performer. His heart shines though his music and he draws you in to every story he tells on the most personal level. No one has ever moved me through music the way he does and I didn't even know it until I heard him sing!! He is a gift.

It goes without saying that his music is phenomenal, but can I just add that I'm loving the clean shave and hair color/cut? He looks really, really nice tonight!

This song is absolutely one of my favorites. I spent months on Instagram listening to it over and over again and then listening to it some more and then begging him to finish it and he finally did it so beautifully. Honestly, one of the things that fascinated me about the song was seeing him create this beautiful love song and just be so into what he was doing that he didn't appear to even remember that he was recording. It honestly took my breath away.

It´s 2:15 am .. I´ve just discovered AA and I already can humm along his songs. and I keep on getting watery eyes

This was a beautiful moment and performance by Alejandro with pure vocals sung straight from the heart as always. I echo what Katy Perry said about being fortunate living in the same lifetime as him. We who appreciate seeing another great musician in the making blossom and flourish and virtually come out of nowhere to give us real music and artistry should feel the same way as she does. Just in awe of how great he is, a generational artist. Just perfect, I don’t even watch American Idol, The Voice, or the like, but when I took a chance to see a KZread video of his audition I was blown away. I didn’t know if this was from a prior season or current, but researched and learned that it was this season and was still airing so I started to watch just because I wanted to see him perform. I hadn't watched AI since Adam Lambert was on. (I think it's been almost 10 years) And Alejandro was the ONLY reason I watched this season as well. In fact, I fast forwarded through nearly every other performance. Lol

Because he's beyond American Idol. He's not limited by it's limitations. He will be remembered as one of the greatest musicians of the 21st century, and all the winners of American Idol will be forgotten.

We are in front of a huge artist.

“It has been such a pleasure to live in the same lifetime as you.” Katy Perry just said what so many people are feeling. This is the highest compliment. A lot of pianists probably wished they lived in the same lifetime as Chopin, Mozart and guitarists in the time of Hendrix, you know...the greats. The only person that comes close to my idea of “great” and true musician that is still alive in this lifetime is John Mayer.

His lyrics are always so honest, right? I think that's what hits you in both the heart and the gut. Everyone can relate to the lyrics of this song in one way or the other, but only the people closest to us would ever know. Whereas, Alejandro just puts it all out there in his music. He is both courageous and brilliant.
