To date this is still the most impressive audition on American idol history, most notable auditions have some super emotional background that gets you in the feels first, this guy just walks on no background, not really much to say, hardly any emotion, but he doesn’t need any of it, just raw talent, there’s never been any other that had this amount of pure talent.

Abi Carter came in second now imo, at least for the auditions I've watched, but I'll give first to this guy just for that insane guitar technique which I think blew musicians minds all around the globe. He brought something unique to the competition and probably deserved to win it.

@@Zepherian I’m glad he didn’t win. He’s waaay beyond all the talent shown on AI… the winner has to sign a bunch of contracts and is bound by the AI ‘machine’… they would have tried to change him. This way, he has millions of new fans, but can stay true to the music HE wants to do …

@@Vanasse1 Agreed, for artistic integrity it's better to be off the big contracts or at least be a good negotiator and know your true value, which is where so many good artists fail.

He's legitimately a virtuoso, and he's just like "yeah, cool, whatever" about it. What an interesting cat.

The fact that he didn’t win absolutely blows my mind! He was by far the best! 🍻

My favourite ever idol audition. Unreal. Magic. I love how Luke is so honest with his remarks, and from the moment Alejandro started his jaw just hits the ground.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a judge that absolutely floored by an audition. By far my favorite audition and idol ever.

“I feel like I’m in the presence of greatness” is maybe the truest comment to ever come from that panel of judges 💯

You can tell he’s been through some stuff, he’s just calm and has his head down. He needed to hear that.

Hands down the most impressive audition ever. His sound is unique, original and absolutely polished. Song writing is jaw dropping, intricate yet beautiful.

The fact he didn’t win tells you why this show is more into the spectacle than actual talent. This man came in 2nd to a guy who was basically an Elvis impersonator when you think about it.

This man is a genius. Way ahead of 99% of the musicians....its freakin unbelievable.

In the last 5 years of american idol I only remember this homie right here. He is such a profound talent. I still watch this audition every few months lol

American idol will never have another audition as amazing as Alejandros, it's rare to find a gem as great as he is.

the absolute best American Idol contestant I've ever witnessed. Still gives me chills 4 years later.

First of all this is arguably one of the most talented contestants we hve seen on American Idol . Secondly Luke was so baffled I loved he was really analyzing every aspect of his musical fr and im conclusion Luke was just completely speechless 🤙🏼

I had to watch it many times to appreciate every element. The voice, the words, the guitar, the piano... every element is truly masterful.

his guitar playing was the most captivating part. hearing this again because I haven't seen an inspiring audition in Idol 2024.

Oh man this guy is an artist.. true artist of his craft he is no joke, no filter and just works at his craft. I loved it! I come from a family of painters and musicians and seeing this just hits me right at the heart. He reminds me of my brother ❤️

“It was like watching my favorite movie” is such a great way to illustrate his music. Found his song, “Out Loud” last summer and it definitely made the season feel like a warm conclusion

When i first watched his audition, it took me back to the movie "august rush", loved that movie & alejandro's near prodigy-esque talent equally!

This dude has the unbelievable ability to play anywhere and he just didn’t know it at that time. His guitar playing is something I’d want at my wedding, and his piano is something I’d wanna hear at a fancy showroom dinner, I can only imagine what he can do with a big budget. So fucking talented man

Luke's face throughout the audition says it all. He can't believe what he is seeing / hearing. Alejandro's picking/strumming pattern, while singing, is next level stuff ... it is so difficult to do. Then when Alejandro plays the piano, Luke throws his pen down. Classic! Video cut off the last comments from the judges: Katy: (to Alejandro) "I think you're an absolute genius." Luke: "I don't even want to see anybody after him..." Katy: "I quit." Lionel: "We're the lucky ones..." 🤣🤣🤣

It's been very long time i've never watched American Idol. There's a day.. i've watched several audition from some contestants on several seasons randomly. Suddenly i've found this guy, and i was shock and directly love him. Then i've tried to explore all his performances on American Idol, and defenetly he's very amazing, blew me away with the music quality that he has, the authenticly and also all his beautiful songs.. very enjoyable, relaxing, easy listening and broke the music mainstream today. Love Alejandro very much.. from INDONESIA ❤❤

This really is greatest idol audition of all time

"I dont think I'm special, I'm just hard working" This episode was not only the best audition ever but also a great life lesson that goes - You put in the reps and eventually you'd beat 99% of the competition out there effortlessly.

He's still my most favorite Idol contestant EVER. There is just something so captivating, pure, honest, and brilliant about him.

He’s incredible. I still feel like he should have won. Absolutely pure talent. And I know he has an album and stuff, and his stuff is good. But I don’t feel like he’s found the right producer. But he’s great. Seriously, probably the best audition ever.

Yes, still watching this audition 5 years later. 2 original songs, and I love watching all 3 judges react so genuinely. Lionel Richie’s face and comments must have been the most validating thing a musician/performer/writer could receive. I personally went back and made a Lionel Richie playlist after watching this the first time. I also love Luke Bryan saying he has no advice or anything… just happy Alejandro is there.

Nothing to be shamed over. This is the reality of all of us who had to do extra work to come into ourselves. Praying on his success. So much pride for this man. The personal growth and self awareness is such a testimony. Courageous you open the gates of heaven to many.

Been watching it like hundreds time and never get tired of it. One of the best auditions ever.

He’s just such a beautiful person. Match the two songs with his amazing voice, they go so so well together it’s pretty unbelievable. I got the warm fuzzy feeling when Alejandro hit them hard notes on both Piano and guitar. Deadset best guy and I’d love to be his best friend. It’s hard not to get woo’d by that ❤
