Alden shell Naval boots/Jumper

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

these were brand new Alden Boots. The customer wanted to add to the original sole. It had a commando sole so we just couldn't add ontop of that. We removed every thing rom the bottom, added house leather full soles then JR leather soles and dove tail heels.

I'm looking at your Landis machines and I'm thinking with so many vital moving parts a sheer genius had to have designed these machines to do a specific job. Quite a good example of mechanical workmanship.

Ya know, one good thing of being 40+ is you stop worrying about other people’s stuff. I got too much of my own shit to worry about! “Hey man! Look at that drawer” LOL you were killing me with that voice.

In the UK, one of the nation’s favourite comedy is called “only fools and horses”. There’s a character who is rather simple, called Trigger, who is a road sweeper. He says he has had the same broom for over 20 years.....and then adds that it’s had 4 new heads and 5 new handles (approx numbers, don’t crucify me fellow Brits) so now we in the UK have a saying “it’s like Trigger’s broom” for something that is essentially repaired and repaired and repaired until nothing is left of the original....but it is still the original. I have a feeling your apron is going to end up like Trigger’s broom. Heh heh.

The extra thick sole will be more comfortable because its stiffer, a flexible shoe can be really uncomfortable if you have something like plantar fasciitus. The toe rubber on the alen edmonds is there for the same reason lulu tips are great, dramatically slower wear than leather on the tips of shoes.

I think the fiber board heel base is kind of like the little cans of potted meat you see in grocery stores. You’re not quite sure what’s in it. We used to say it was made from lips and peckers. That’s my guess as to what the heel bases are made of. Another beautiful job, Steve!

Fiberboard is wood chips ground up and glued together, usually made in a plywood factory. Some of it is made with modern polymer glue and set with heat. The quality, water resistance, durability are all dependent on the glue. I never knew they used it in shoes but it is used as a backing in flooring, cheap furniture backing or drawer bottoms. You probably notice the difference when you remove it, some falls apart some stays together. With the right glue and manufacturing process it is a good less expensive product than wood.
