We play him in a friendly against Iceland, he gets man of the match, ok some of his final balls weren’t perfect but he was keen and eager and battling and creative! - we play Serbia 🇷🇸 and we are crying out for a left sided winger and I thought, well this is a no brainer, and…. No Gordon. I can only assume Gareth is a secret rugby fan, as all the players pass the ball backwards, I assume they think it’s illegal to pass ball forward. I think we are averaging 3 shots a game, and 1 corner. Southgate out!!!!

The main issue is that the England team thinks that they are better than they really are.

Playing with the hand brake on. My mediocre Denmark was made to look decent for long periods. Appears to be on Southgate although no player tried to take the game by the scruff of the neck really.

i think problem is in the wrong balance of the team to many center forward not a proper winger in the left side and left full back why grelish is not in the team his skills with the ball is great in the left and gordon also is great in the left foden is not a winger arnold also in the center is not okey

In future autobiographies, it will all come out. Kane wasn’t fit. The players hated the set up of playing them out of position etc, etc. Seen it for 50 years. Everyone keeps quiet and makes excuses… then the truth is eventually revealed.

Hot take but England need to bench Kane. Yes I know he’s their best goal scorer but he drops way too deep when he’s not getting the ball and then the team is just lost because there’s a gaping hole where the striker is supposed to be, foden CF and saka and palmer on the wings would make the team more energetic and dangerous attacking wise and give more space to players like Bellingham in the midfield

It's not kane to blame for that... if something or someBODY (looking at your bus driving school instructor) is blocking the player's minds to play "safe", they won't rush forward anymore. kane is a classic striker and you need to serve him a cross. He was purely desperate this game so he went back and tried to carry the ball from the midfield to the box ... for this he's definitely not the best playerto do so, tho

It was almost as bad as the two ladies' halftime punditry, which was basically "What England need to do is get the ball and then kick the ball forwards"

Best players at the tournament don't make me laugh Spain are on a different planet football wise.

Solution is not difficult: Pickford Trent Walker Stones Gomez Rice Mainoo/Wharton Saka Bellingham Gordon Kane When attacking turns into 3 at the back like City/Liverpool play. Trent moves forward to make use of his forward thinking passes. When Kane drops deep Bellingham moves forward like he has for Madrid. Could even still play Foden on left and Jude and Phil swap with fluidity like they do for their clubs (but i think natural winger in Gordon offers more defencively and attacking). The only way we will do well with this manager though is to play a rigid formation with two dm's and only one of either Foden or Jude. He doesnt have the capacity or nouse to play the above. I'd sack him and see if Eddie Howe is available to us through the rest of the tournament.

@tomcooke6079 it's not about dropping Guehi, which is obvious that he's played so well and doesnt deserve it, it's about playing players in positions that they are used to and play at club level. Gomez has played at LB for Liverpool this season to drop into a 3 and allow Trent to be an inverted FB and Kyle Walker drops into the right side of a 3 for City, when Gvardidol or Stones gets forward. And that would then suit Trent to be the one to get forward and make use of his front facing play and whip in crosses and diags. It would also allow Saka to drop into and IF position. And I put Mainoo/Wharton for personal preference but for me I'd go Mainoo. You could swap Bellingham for Foden if you prefer or Foden for Saka to drop inside but this formation just suits the players that have been selected more.

Players letting us down again. Jude looked so tired. No forward runs from anyone. Glad we made some good subs but the players are going need to wake up in the knockouts. Guehi was motm

Trent is better when he's got players in front of him trying to make runs. This was exemplified with his ball over the top to Saka in the second half. The problem was the forward players weren't energetic enough to warrant the sublime passes Trent can do. You then see after he comes off that England players started to try to play the passes he does on a regular. Trent wasn't the problem today. Kane, Foden, Saka and to an extent Bellingham were for a lack of energy and desire to make runs. Or it was another Southgate Disasterclass.

A good car is ,of course, the best components, But, the tuning of motor , gear box, liquids, makes the difference. Which car do you want? What more do you expect with Southgate at the wheel? But the lack of creativity and penetration has to be down to the group of players. As usual, they are too worried about losing that they forget how to go for the win. They are always more likely to concede than score, so this gives other teams belief. It's not a team, it's a collection of individuals and it shows. The sight of three lumbering forward towards the Danish goal and then not knowing what to do and they stop and pass the ball back, this should not be happening. Then individuals blasting shots off target out of desperation. Players should be playing their natural position that they do for their clubs, but it seems they are being asked to play another system and with not enough time together to learn it thoroughly.
