Guaranteed contracts are the same as exclusive deals for games. Theres no motivation to make good games because your game will sell regardless if people want a NFL, WWE, UFC, etc. game

Thats not necessarily the main issue of it. I remember when NXT UK rolled out. The UK was a having a practicle wrestling renaissance. So much good talent cropped up and indys were seeing the benefit. Then the lads at ITV dared to try revive World of Sport. WWE rolled in faster than you can say monopoly. Garunteed contracts to all the promising talent. Granted some got shots in the big time (some caught up in scandal) but ultimately NXT UK stole all that thunder and did fuck all with it. They had lightning in a bottle. And it was squandered when it mattered.

I mean it's good for the wrestlers welfare and bad for the fans as some wrestlers don't feel the need to put in the effort cause they automatically get paid. It's sort of a two way street

Endeavor has owned the UFC for close to decade at this point and the business structure regarding fighters being classified as contractors or employees never changed nor will it for the wrestlers. The guaranteed deals that were panned in WCW had merit at the start. The WWF had tons of revenue streams to share with their rosters such as their merchandising, ticket revenues, media revenues and so on. WCW in their early stages didn’t have those revenue lines established to cut talents in on so they had to find an alternative structure that allowed them to compete for higher tier names that are needed to have the company ever do revenues to grow to begin with. And for a short period of time the model worked until it was abused. The issue became the drawbacks of providing a full guarantee that doesn’t change based on what the talent does which is where the WWF had it right by providing a downside that eliminated the major pain points that you had no idea what you’d earn and how to budget a life but still retained the incentive of putting in the work earned substantially more money so there wasn’t an incentive to sit home considering just how vastly dudes were out earning their downsides. But now the WWE largely just provides a guarantee as well because now they license out everything for a flat fee so there’s no direct revenue impact from individuals to have them be revenue partners like they previously were.

I mean wwe wrestlers are essentially employees without the benefits. They have a product but can't wrestle or appear in other promotions and any money made outside of wwe needs company approval

Like all sports if it's "better for the athletes" it's probably worse for the fans And if it's a decision made for the fans interest it's probably worse for the athletes and even worse for the fans lol

I think the middle ground is a tier system bronze silver gold and if you're not reigns you're in the lower tier. Promotion and Demotion should be standard practice.

I dont think this is the biggest problem of wrestling but more a marker for an issue. It shows how far a company has come from the trade if anything. The days a young up and come knocks on doors and is run off are all but dead. Talent need that grind. The performance centres are great but lacking in the art of wrestling more the Art of translating to TV. The age old tradition of old school teacher student is almost lost. Kayfabe is dead. This is a huge problem for wrestling. Fix this and I bet my life savings the fans will come it.

AEW is paying low carders six figures for showing up to work once or twice a month while many WWE wrestlers make the same money working 90+ shows a year. Everything about that does not sound right. Riho recently said on Japanese TV that she made 400k in 2023. She wrestled like 8 matches for AEW😂 if that is anything else than Khan sharing his wealth pls tell me lol

@koolgadgetor nothing, just don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining. Clearly an almost nude woman, animated or not, is not appropriate for children's viewing. And neither is a middle finger. So is this a joke, or is he being serious? One is ok, the other isn't? Double standards and hypocrisy, much?

@@sarkissamuel you do know there are many cultures where women live freely topless/naked and it's not like their children aren't seeing their moms and sisters that way, right? Nothing wrong with female nudity. Get over it.

Depends on how people define a bad or good idea. People think the Spirit Squad was a bad idea, but WWE makes million/billions in profit. On the other side, people thought the Knockouts division in TNA was a good idea, yet they had to work side jobs to pay their rent. Many of the things Russo did in WCW didn't work because that fanbase liked "Wrasslin" and the matches and belts were their pride and joy. Yet the stuff Russo did in WWF worked perfectly because WWF's goal was entertainment. So that "soap opera" stuff was perfect. Like the old saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
