He was on Holy Ghost FULL on this song!!! Yes Lord!!! This might be my favorite Al Green song. There are many others. But I remember driving through the dark, state to state, playing Belle over and over, and singing it out the window, staying awake on the road. Drinking good strong coffee and happy to be rolling with Al Green, reflecting on what God hath blessed me with. Salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Sometimes when I see great clips like this on youtube, and the camera pans to a crowd of people just sitting like statues, I just don't get it. Some were with him, but many looked like they were frozen. How could you not rock side to side while this cat is pouring out his soul...and the music, wow. Listen to that bass grooving in the back. Soulful...and funky.

I hate to pit two incredible artists against each other but I prefer Al Green over Marvin Gaye. This performance is why I love Al, he brings out the emotion from a song. I often argue with my friends about this and they always feel like I'm bashing Marvin when in fact I love Marvin but just like Al more.

Please allow me to help...The comparison is actually an unreal one. You see, what is happening here is NOT entertainment, you are witnessing the Holy Spirit working in a man that has been Called to Ministry. This is not "Al Green" this man is giving himself to God and Ministry! Thus to compare that to another great man simply entertaining is....well, ..."unintentionally unfair! :-)

y not Al Green was straight country soul steeped in church. Marvin was more so a crooner with a heavy jazz influence. Both great, both favorites of mine.

As he sung in one live performance "I hear music when I hear the name" hence the sound of belles. And he said "Jesus is my everything" towards the end of the song..good try tho.

Jesus is referred to as the Living Water which is why he said "he's my drink of water." Jesus is also the Morning Star.
