Al Green Live 1974 Best Ever
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
The greatest live Al Green show I have ever seen. Wish the quality was better. It was a copy of an old VCR tape.
1. Sweet Little Sixteen
2. Tired Of Being Alone
3. Here I Am (Come And Take Me)
4. Let's Get Married
5. brief interview
6. Love & Happiness
7. Let's Stay Together
8. brief interview
9. Still In Love With You
To the best of my knowledge, the personel is as follows:
Al Green - vocals
Larry Lee - music director, guitar
James Bass - guitar
William McBroom - bass
Lynda Harper - organ
Johnny Brown(?) - electric piano
Aaron Purdie - drums
Eddie Folk - percussion
Michael Baker
Buddy Jarrett - saxophone, background vocals
Daryl Neely - trumpet, background vocals
No copyright infringement intended. Just wanted people to be able to see this fantastic performance.

Im looking in 2024. Al Green was at the top of his game at this point. I Always bought tickets for him in Detroit. The band was untouchable..they moved as one. You dont have live bands like that nowadays. Love some Al Green❤
The year was 1972 my future wife and I went to his concert. Before the doors were open a fight broke out and we go push through the doors without giving up the ticket still have that $5 ticket to this day. Yes $5.

You blessed
Gospel music is the foundation of most of what we know as popular music including hip hop which samples it heavily. Al Green brought you gospel music straight from the source with no additives, preservatives or meat by products. Nothing was watered down for popular acceptance. Make no mistake, he was singing about love and happiness, but this is straight from the church. And that band of his was hard core, those were some hard brothers.
The fellow on the bass guitar is William M.McBroom, my younger brother. It was his band from Louisville, Kentucky who was the road band for Al Green from the beginning with the first hit in 1972, Let's Stay Together. until Bro Al started preaching. My brother passed away in May of 1985.

Since "1971" Uncle Al has been Played in my "Crib" and my "Ride"😁😁😁😁😁
In 1973, my mom, her sister, cousins, all women had tickets to see Al Green. One of them couldn't go so they asked me, a 14-year-old "hard male" to go. I refused! But they forced me to go lol. Not only did Al Green put on a show that still resonates in recollection, I saw women doing things I had never seen like taking their panties off and tossing them at him and flying through the air simply to catch a rose he tossed. Seeing this brings back that night in full circle.
I'm 48. My father Morris was paralyzed. We would watch this together. Momma Annie would be sleeping beside Daddy. I would be in the middle of them dancing. Remember my Daddy telling saying stop before you wake up your mother. Damn I miss my parents.

Nope 😂Different time.. Different work ethic.. I think back then black artist were responsible enough to create music that their base would be proud of, so i believe artists set a standard back then for themselves that their music will touch the souls of people. I don’t believe artists are as serious, have the work ethic and don’t understand the importance of putting out music that truly represents the culture.. that’s my take 🤷🏽.. Artists back then sonically were pushing the envelope coming out with ground breaking music. Today I don’t think artists don’t care . You can hear it in the music..
This really brings me back. A white girl, 15 years old, listening to Al Green, spending fun times with James Browns band, Maceo, Chsrles, parties at Smokey Robinsons house. It was all so new, and memorable. Thank you Jesus for the times and the memories and Al Green!

I was born in 1964 and I’m so grateful that I grew up on good R&B music. Bands was the big thing back in the 70’s and all the entertainers had their own band that traveled with them. Earth Wind and Fire, The Commodores, Rufus and Chaka Kahn, LTD are just a few that we’re a band. We also had a lot of neighborhood bands and they would practice in the basement of houses. They did neighborhood gigs and weddings.

Last Man Standing, there are no more Soul Singers he is it, last man standing.
My dad was a DJ at WABD in the early 1970’s at Ft. Campbell Kentucky when the Vietnam War was still raging. I was 3-5 years old but I literally remember hearing Al Green’s music and all my dad’s friends talking about Al Green back then. His music was so intense that it lives in my soul today at 53 years old and will until the day I die. Those memories will never leave me. They were great days in my life.

You can't describe the fall of quality music. This is the whole package, the singer, the band, the crowd. The fall is like falling from Mt. Everest it broke up as it hit every cliff all the way to the bottom. You watch this performance and you can't see that hog calling they call singing today. Go sit down your bad no really bad. This never goes out of style like the Energizer bunny just keeps going. I'm so glad I grew up on this. Not a sell out for that trash. I'm thankful for my memory. God bless you all. All love.
