@jniah corry Little Denise became very sick! She died the same year Akeelah’s father was killed (she was 6 years old) and was a couple of years younger than her (Probably 4 years old by looking at the picture of her and her father)! 😇😇😇😇 Dr. Larabee quit being Akeelah’s spelling bee coach because she reminded him of his deceased daughter! And probably what she’d look like today if she was still alive! 😭😭😭😭

He lost his daughter and him and his wife couldn’t even mourn together. Its heartbreaking too see parents loose a child, but it’s made worse when the grief is so soul shattering that they end going their separate ways.

When Larry says, “Let’s give him a run for his money,…OK?”, I just can never keep it together. It’s such an incredible moment for both of them, handled so beautifully by LF. 😢❤

I won my junior high spelling beere. I was in the 7th grade. The girl i beat was in the 9th. She thought she had it in the bag. But i lived in books and was very well read.

The soundtrack makes this scene so much more powerful

My great-grandmother died of a hemorrhagic stroke 3 years ago and she was also very close to her like a second mother. I was so sad just thinking about her and I still think about her to this day. When I look at her picture on my wall, I shed tears sometimes 😢 So it’s heartbreaking to lose someone you were very close with

This part reminds me of my cousin alondra when she passed away I used to cry all the time myself

This is how to became great at spelling. When she was six, her father died. She got upset most of the time. But when she spelled, it made her feel better. Spelling helps her stopping the grief of her father

My and akeelah are simular bc my dad died when I was a little over a year it's still so sad but at least I couldn't remember anything bc I was to young so its probably harder for her.

It reminds me of losing my Grandpa for almost 6 years and my Uncle for almost 4 years. May they rest in glory everlasting peace 😞😞💔💔🕊️🕊️🙏🏾🙏🏾
