Just ordered this but want a better audio quality. Could you tell me if i use mic adaptor from micro usb to 3.5mm and use non-akaso mic then will it work? Cheers!

@@sexytopramen it's using a Hisilicon chipset and Sony IMX sensor - but Akaso refused to tell me which models for either "In case I was competition" I said if I was competition, I'd buy it and pull it apart !!... and know anyway (stupid people 😡🤔) But the listing at AliExpress says Novatek 96655 Omnivision

@@sexytopramen AliExpress official Akaso shop lists the chipset as Novatek 96650 (1080/30) Another listing says 96655 (1080/30) These chips are only capable of 1080/30 So I'd stay clear of it until somebody confirms exactly what's in the cam

@@mijiasample6334 hmm. I wonder if the aliexpress listing has correct info. The sensor is 12mp, not 16 like it says on the aliexpress listing. I bought the camera last week and it definitely shoots 1080p at more than 30fps. The 4k in bright environments is actually pretty good as well, but it goes to shit as soon as it gets dark which is fine for my use.

You do the best reviews. Your side-by-side footage is actually helpful. You help me decide to buy the camera. I’m happy I did it’s a well-made camera with excellent features and easy to use. The touchscreen is a blessing. But one problem people should know is that the video files produced by the camera are not compatible with Mac computers. Akaso Cheaped out and used an audio codec which is not compatible with Max. If you transfer your files via SD card to your Mac you will have no sound on your videos. I couldn’t figure it out but after an entire day of searching found a small comment about the situation in Amazon reviews. You would think given the hundreds of people complaining the camera itself sucks because there’s no audio that Ocaso might consider employing a real audio codec. Or they should stayed up front the camera is not Mac compatible. There are two fixes. But he needs an extra step? The first one is supplied by Akaso. You open their application on your phone go into your video files and select the video you want. Then select save to your iPhone. During this process it converts the audio. Then you need to email or airdrop your file to your Macintosh computer. This however is time consuming. The other option is transfer your files using the SD card and then you have to use the compromise of a third-party app to convert your video. Luckily the free video player VLC will do it quickly. You just have to use the convert/stream option and select for your audio another mpeg encoding Codec. Luckily you don’t have to re-incode the video just the audio so it’s a fast process. But I really think the company should state in their literature the files produced by this camera are not Mac compatible as far as audio.

After seeing all of those seven version videos I decided to stay away from Akaso, turns out the early versions are about like a new version car you want to wait until they get the bugs worked out, but after watching this one it completely changed my mind and I just ordered one from that link you posted so thanks a bunch - that's a really good review.

Just ordered one because of your awesome and super complete and smart review. I know, after 3 years there are many other options (and cheaper ones), but it still fits my wallet and I don´t need a pro action cam, just for some amateur motorbike vlogging. I also ordered the Akaso external mic, who knows how it will work...Thank you, "like" button pressed, and already suscribed. Greetings from Spain, sorry for my English.

Great info Alex! The nic is a bit muffled but I imagine that cab easily be cured by the external mic you mention.

After some help my friend....I have put samsung 64 sdxc class 10 in camera..I have done format but when I power on it says sd card speed is low??

This is the best deal for the price, EIS is unbelievably smooth! The EIS on and off video quality is vastly different.

I have a question about my akaso v50x. I am trying to take a night time-lapse, but I have a problem. I changed the exposure time to 5 seconds (under the photo settings) so that there would be enough light getting to the sensor in the dark environment. I tried taking a few photos and they turned out really good, but when I tried to take a time-lapse, it just used the auto exposure settings so the entire time-lapse turned out way to dark because the sensor was not getting enough light. I am able to change the settings for photos, but when I take a time-lapse it doesn't use my photo settings. (just to confirm, I am doing the photo time-lapse, not the video time-lapse) and ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi ... 1. What ISO settings are available in video mode. 2. What chipset and sensor are used ? Cheers

For those who recently acquired the V50x,there are three menu modes, Video, photo and system. The video mode is easy , just tap the function icon (gear shape) in the lower right area of the viewing screen. To get to the photo menu press the mode button in the front of the camera once your in the video menu. To get to the system menu press the menu button a second time. This is not well explained in the manual.

I strongly recommend that you TEST the AKASO case empty in the sink / BEFORE you find a leak and ruin the camera :) I have seen many comments about that issue and IT wasn't tested beforehand :) KEEP up the great job with reviews on AKASO , I am a proud owner ( 2 ) of this Camera :) :)

I think you should save up and get the Yi 4K+. I use that one as well. I’ve seen it going on sale for around $159 multiple times

awesome review (Would you ever consider adding more to the reviews i.e: Use on Bicycles? -mount on the bar and see how it deals with popholes or everyday rides? - just a cyclist looking for a cheap option or also camera footage of diving into a pool or water? ) - along with when doing the slow motion can we have original speed as comparisson?

Hi Alex can you explain what the difference is between Gyroscpoe and Stabilization as the AcasoV50x has both.

I want to record some videos on my ATV so stabilization is most important. Probably getting this. Can't for the next month since I lost 2 weeks of work to the plague, but I should be fine next month. Just in time for ATV season.

Hello can you help me with advice, I have an akaso v50x with an external akaso microphone, but I can't record good sound. When I put it in the helmet, it is too loud and the voice is too deep so that it makes noise, and I tried a lot of positions, is it possible that there is a problem in the camera or should I try a better microphone according to your recommendation. Hi there, I have installed V50x on my RC airplane and couldn't get smooth video when my bird is doing turns, only flying straight forward makes it smooth. How to fix this problem? Already replaced sd card to some of super-duper fast class 10 U3, but it doesn't help and, one more think - this camera asks to format sd card every time I turned it ON. Thanks.

I bought akaso v50x and must say 4k out side looks good, but I have problem with 1080p looks not nice even when sun is shining i find this bit annoying, but I can't compere it to osmo or go pro what your thoughts

I own a V50X, why after let's say 45 mins straight recording, when I go to view the video, I can see 5 - 6 breakdowns of the videos. Like it is recording in sections. I use the recommended SD Samsung 64GB. Is is something in the setting that is wrong?

You don't need to pair it, just switch on the camera and use the remote

Hi, I notice the min. time interval for photo time lapse is 3 seconds. I usually do a lot of time lapse's at 1 sec or 2 sec. Am I missing a setting or is there any work around to modify this? - thx
