Airstrike on Insurgents by 9 1000lb JDAM's GBU-32
HD 720p
The Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) is a guidance kit that converts unguided bombs, or "dumb bombs" into all-weather "smart" munitions. JDAM-equipped bombs are guided by an integrated inertial guidance system coupled to a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, giving them a published range of up to 15 nautical miles (28 km). JDAM-equipped bombs range from 500 pounds (227 kg) to 2,000 pounds (907 kg). When installed on a bomb, the JDAM kit is given a GBU (Guided Bomb Unit) nomenclature, superseding the Mark 80 or BLU (Bomb, Live Unit) nomenclature of the bomb to which it is attached.
The JDAM is not a stand-alone weapon, rather it is a "bolt-on" guidance package that converts unguided gravity bombs into Precision-Guided Munitions, or PGMs. The key components of the system consist of a tail section with aerodynamic control surfaces, a (body) strake kit, and a combined inertial guidance system and GPS guidance control unit.
The JDAM was meant to improve upon laser-guided bomb and imaging infrared technology, which can be hindered by bad ground and weather conditions. Laser seekers are now being fitted to some JDAMs.

Well said. Just to elaborate a little, though, in terms of "kill range" it should be understood that "JDAM" could be applied to any free-falling explosive; the material and amount in the warhead is what counts, unless you mean kill range in terms of distance of travel before impact...... which is a function of speed at release, altitude, weight, drag, wind speed, and amount of control exerted on its way to the customer. :)

I see.... Anyway, contrary to what is believed, roaches can die from exposure to radiation (although it will take more radiation than is necessary to kill a human. Even still, roaches are on the low end of radiation endurance when compared to many other insects). Regardless of this, when I had made my earlier comment I had just watched Black Mirror Season 4 Episode 5 (*spoilers follow*). In the episode the military installed some HUD device in the soldiers that controlled what they saw, could smell, feel etc. There was this "war" going on with "roaches" that to the soldiers looked like people infected by some disease that made them act out like zombies. In actual fact, these "roaches" were just people that had been profiled and were being killed off because their genes were not "perfect". Quite interesting to watch.

Horrific as this is, it is awesomely impressive. The precision and utter surprise is daunting, to say the least. Far removed from the days of a single bomb on target, being measured in bombers sent against it. This isn't that effective in Iraq and Astan, but in a developed theatre like Iran, with a large uniformed military and a smorgasbord of industrial and infrastructural targets, his would be biblically devastating.

Iraqi armor and ADS looked tough on paper, but it was all broken down/unmanned/undermanned/out of ammo/etc. They didnt invade Kuwait fi5r resources because they were strong. We processed hundreds of Iraqi soldiers that had uniforms literally rotting off their bodies like castaways. Entire companies surrendered for a MRE and a bottle of water. They and Iran tuned each other the fuck up and they were circling the drain, when they invaded Kuwait out of desperation.
In Nam, we had to be cleared of an area at least 1,000 m. from the drop zone of 1,000 pound bombs. Usually it was B-52's dropping 72 1,000 pounders and 3 planes in a flight. This is impressive, until you have seen and felt a ( 52 ) strike.

One thing about bombs' arrival that amazes is the speed of vertical fall........ just spectacular because they're at about 600' then 1/30th of a second later already at impact point. Then there's the fuse types........ on impact or after penetrating to interior!?!?!? I'd think that 1,000 lbs. falling at ridiculous speed, having contacted steel/concrete/wood/etc. would be impossible to delay detonation. Awesome footage, thanks for sharing it.

You would be surprised how deep can shell, bomb or anything dug in if traveling at huge velocity. It is only about fuse and its sensitivity and delay. I have seen photo of downed Messerschmitt that dug hole thru London street like 4-6m deep. Well, they dig up motor and guns for evaluation and cover hole. Also lot of unexploded bombs lay in Germany to this day from ww2 and are discovered mostly deep underground when some construction is build or rebuild.

Was an nice village I heard, made great tea!
Anyone know how far away from the bomb impact were those filming this?
Poor trees, in a such dry landscape, it's a crime to destroy a tree.

Gilles Guillaumin thermobaric bombs would be better for trees. Trees dont have air inside their bodies like humans do so they wont tear and collapse as easily.

That's the idea behind shock and awe tactics, but the Taliban didn't care about strikes like this. They kept fighting anyway, and that's why the US lost

The US never intended to stay, once Bin Laden and other high level leaders were eliminated, it was time to go, we stayed longer than we should have... a big mistake.

hes talking about shell shock and no human-being would escape that with those perimeters..... lmao not to mention the only reason we "lost" is bc we dont have the full authority to kill without regard to civilian like a true war so its not saying much... if we wanted the middle east a parking lot it wouldn't take but a few weeks I promise you its nothing even of secret....@@n1thecaptain965
