I still remember my very first Simulator kill... I was in the Hurricane Mk. IV with the twin 40mm's... there was a big, dirty German bomber about 500m out... I brought those crumpet-shooters to bear and hit him on-convergence with the ferocity and politeness of Queen Elizabeth the Second.

Mine was a Pe-8 in Stalingrad I was between 2.5 and 3 thousand meters and I spotted him in the corner of my screen when on my BF110 I then dived in his direction and got behind him at ridiculous speed then I killed him whit a burst into the fuselage shredding him to bits

The issue with stalling is not speed and altitude. What happens is a pilot sees another pilot turn, instinct is to turn inside of them, so you bank and yank... This is programmed into rb pilots do to the plane turning at its max radius nothing less, and wont stall. In sim, you can temporarily turn harder than the plane allows, unfortunately this is followed by loss of lift in the wings and a stall or flat spin. To stop stalls, realize you dont need to turn inside someone to out turn them, and learn the capabilities of your plane.

+CrimsonGamer99 Crashing on take off in simulator is almost like a rite of passage. It will always happen in your first simulator flyout, be it on War Thunder, Il-2 Sturmovik, DCS, etc. Just follow the steps advised in this video: easy on the throttle and counter the slip with the rudder. PS: 2nd inevitable ocurrence: death due uncontrollable spin. There´s a method for that too.

+AceCustomz you pull with the mouse before you look around. then you can look around and control where the aircraft is flying by using the ailerons with A & D. I always do it like that and it works pretty good.

TheRealToaster2 when you apply full elevator to a plane at lower speeds it gets into a flat spin (most of the times)

Yeah I can imagine myself watching this video again and again to make sure I can master the simulator mode

If you want, you can also use a setting for the mouse called "relative aim". I use this in war thunder arcade and simulator, combined with a joy stick or (wasd is good for arcade battles as well) it lets me have so much more freedom when flying and aiming, instead of with mouse aim.

Finally !!! I was trying to find why. I can not go to third person

The only thing I don't like in RB and SB is that you have to fly for ages until you reach the part of the map at which you maybe could find an enemy. But everytime I reach the middle of the map (after flying for 5 minutes) I have to search for enemys at least additional 2 minutes and then reach him before another teammate kills him first or get shoot instantly and then have to do that all again. At arcade I can shoot about 5 aircrafts in this period of time and have a lot of fun.

+Kralex Profill You're perfectly right, RB is evolving much slower than arcade, therefore you have to plan your tactics more. As for me this is not a bug, but a feature of RB. I like fighting for minutes to get only one kill, just because this is more rewarding. On the contrast, arcade is too fast and chaotic for me - therefore I play it only very rarely. There are only two cases where I don't like the map size: Biplanes in Spain (you are then flying like 15 min until you see a target), and jets on Korea (I join 2 min later and on take-off my team mates already score kills). As for the rest, I'm perfectly fine!

Once I get an Oculus Rift or HTC Vibe I will def be getting back into this game and mode. I loved it so much!

Yeah after trying 50 times I managed to take off and then immidiately crashed... lol but still I am an lvl 10 pilot (;

Watch real flying videos and try other sims, In real life fighters are incredibly hard fly but when you learn the speeds and rules of flight, it will become childs play :)

Excelent tutorial. In my opinion the player must have a joystick, even a cheap one, it is a unique experience. I've made some videos flying with my Thrustmaster Flight Hotas 4 and I think it is great....

When in tutorial of simulator landing it stops and never continues when it says i have to get the sticks up to reduce it’s speed

Cheap joysticks I can recommend is Thrustmaster T16000M, only 40 bucks for a high end precision, due to magnetic sensors based on Halls effect. Not like most of the cheap joysticks around with much lower resolution, and easly discalibrated potentiometers. Using it for like 2 years and it's pretty solid. For people not into TrackIR, Freetrack or just simply starting I recommend trying to get Your joystick into left hand (if not right-hand profilled) and look around with mouse. You'll learn to use Joystick in left hand very quickly(like You're using WSAD), and looking around with a mouse in right hand is the most intulitive thing that You can find in video games - problem solved. War Thunder is really good place to start Your adventure with flight sims. You can get used to flying, learn some good manouvers and generally air combat tactics, and generally have a lot of fun in highly populated game. But once You'll get good enough to feel it, You'll realise how poor FMs are, starting from high angle of attack behavior of planes, to phisicaly unrealistic, and scripted stalls (or lack of stalls in some case), damage model and many, many more. Once You get there You'll know, that it's time to move on to better suited sims like Il2s, RoF etc. Salute!

i actualy have own way to land just make speed 0% put gear out and tha just fucking crahs into landing place it sometimes work :D its most usefull if plane carrier dont have enough space you only need 30 - 40 meters if you dont put gear out you stop emedeatly and you can land on helicopter starting places :D

I use a keyboard and flight stick on the PS4 for sim battles. Controller is okay, but you lack so many controls. I've used the Thrustmaster HOTAS as well as the Saitek x52 with a keyboard on PS4. Usually I stick with the HOTAS even though it's inferior to the Saitek, only because I keep the Saitek connected to my PC for IL2 and Rise of Flight.

+Fleet Master Gruber it is the most immersive Game I've ever player in my Oculus DK2! I loved just flying around in test flyouts over streets, lower then trees level, or through bridges... just soo cool!! Spotting I've found extremely difficult in the Rift, perhaps CV1 resolution will fix that. BUT Gaijin!! why you had to break Rift mode with 1.53... I'm sooo sad :( and mad you!

I really hope that technology will find a way to not get motion sickness.

I love the actual flying, but getting the view setup is really frustrating. Eventually I plan to get Oculus Rift, so it should be easier then. Then I will actually bother with the joystick. Biggest problem with mouse is that you can't use rudder. I would assume that in a fighter, the only times you would want to use rudder, you want to stomp in it to either get in a spin, get out of a spin, hammerhead, or make a similar maneuver. This is mostly because the viewing and options for Logitech 3D Pro is pretty poor. I love managing the rudder on the same device, but the hat switch just doesn't cut it for viewing. Maybe if you could get it to pan more gently, but I have been having a really hard time setting that up. Lining up the shot has been a pleasant challenge. Problem is when you have a deflecion shot, and the bottom of your plane completely occludes his position, like at 7:03 .

What flight stick do you recommend for the beginner mouse user?

the only reason i want to play RB and Sim is the fact that i wanna play attack aircraft and hit player AAA's and tanks but arcade doesnt have that future and in RB mostly i either don't get enough spawn points or get too much but never die to go on an aircraft. Do i get to jump on attack plan straight in SIM or do i still have to get spawn points?

Can we get an updated version?

My favorite aircraft for SB is the PE-3, because of it's cockpit having a bottom window

Idk whats wrong with Mouse Joystick in this mode but compensating for your roll because of the propellers is a pain in the ass and everytime I attempt to dive I always end up going on a Spiral and I don't get it, I see YT videos where people just have their Mouse Dead Center and they don't have to do anything else, is there some sort of workaround like using a controller?

I play arcade under realistic controls with no instructor since 2013 which is the true hard mode as you deal with moise laser aim opponents, you can check it on my channel. Sadly only a few planes have the joystick modeled right. The game is built around moise aiming, and the joystick has an awful yaw wooble because when you turn the yaw the game thinks the yaw recoil is another movement as it is built around mouse. Gaijin 7years later still could not fix it. Only a handfull of planes work well with stick.

The author said something for which I request clarification. There are no markers for enemy aircraft, I thought that I heard. So, how does one differentiate enemy from friendly? Are friendly a/c marked, I hope? Or is it like Il-2 Sturmovik : Battle of Stalingrad and Cliffs of Dover where there are no markers for enemy or friendly, making it a difficult and long drawn out process of IDing an airplane before engaging?

That's the neat part, you don't differentiate at long range. Hence, in sim, always make sure to fly closer before opening fire. At close distance, friendly markers will show up, allowing you to confirm the target. Note that 1) I am brand new to sim, this is just advice I've heard and 2) I am only experienced in low tier, so I have no idea about bvr combat and top tier.

I wanted to try the simulation mode but cant start the engine because the default button wasnt set. and i didnt find the option to set a button to start the engine.

I have a Logitech, Extreme 3D Pro joystick. It has been a real problem properly setting it up. Yes, you do have a profile for Logitech, but it does not cover everything. Could you please make an extensive video on how to properly set this joystick up (or joysticks in general.). The biggest issue I have been having is setting up POV. The above video touches on setting up controls. Unfortunately, it only spends a few seconds on this issue. Could you make a whole video about how to setup trimmers, engine setup, mixture. etc. etc. A few seconds touching on these is not sufficient. A whole video, and very extensive would be nice. (either that, or setup profiles for joysticks. War Planes have profiles for each joystick or gaming mouse. Please do the same.)

OH nice, torque is affecting the plane in flight? Not really, it affects it at slow speeds and high angles of attack. There's also P factor. So many things are wrong or just not present in this game.

I've flown a few planes in real life and never had to do as much trimming as i have to in WT. Im not sure what im doing wrong, because others dont seem to be having this issue.

These are very unstable warmachines. If you have stabile plane (civil plane) you lose manouverability.

Most of these machines apart from being tail draggers are heavy, high horsepower birds of prey that will kill you as quick as you blink if disrepected and handled incorrectly. I hold a Comercial Pilots Licence aeroplane and compared to what we fly these days the guys driving 40's Era combat machines were riding the edge of horsepower and design inventions so the amount of trimming required is going to be alot, even todays machines still require constant trim adjustment everytime you change the aircrafts position or adjust any engine settings. Everything you do in flight has a reactive effect the pilot must then compensate for. You literally are the spinning ball on the end of a finger. I had the chance many years ago to fly in a North American T28C Trojan which would be cool to see in WT. 50's Era light ground attack naval plane. Let me just say the assult on the senses experienced on this flight have yet to be rivaled 20 years on and at the time it paled what I had been flying upto that point. Whole next league kind of jump so I imagine those 40's machines were a sheer demon of terror even before you had to pull the trigger, then one can only wonder in awe at the pilot workload of actual cambat.

Number 1 : Equipped yourself with VR or Track IR or else you have a disadvantage over everyone.... Still fun though. I have a joystick but I play with the mouse/keyboard because playing with a joystick and trying to turn your head around is really hard. But its easy to do with the mouse/keyboard.

Figure it out? If not let me know, as far as I know if you've downloaded War Thunder, Sim is available in the tabs to the upper right when in main menu "Events & Tournaments". I fly sim every week and never had to install a pack or any extra files from the main game. Let me know if you've figured it out 6 months down the road. Good luck in the air brother.

You probably figured it out by now but If not here is how to fix that... So whenever you click the warthunder icon on your computer it opens the launcher and on the launcher in the bottom right corner there are three boxes click the one that says “use full client” once you check that box it will download and then you can play sim

I haven't flown simulator in a while but when I did my biggest issue was every time I tried to turn the plane hard it would throw me into a spin. How do I prevent this? If anyone sees this let me know thanks.

Some planes like the spitfire in simulator can easily go into spins if you try to turn too tight. There's not much you can do except try to control your turn more. Make sure you use aelerons as well to help you turn.

Play simulator when you're not in the hard grind. It took me 4 months to get decent at sim (mouse and keyboard) So stay RB and when you don't wanna do battles, get an easy to fly plane, test flight, then go sim.

I like Crabs you can get a cheap Logitech one for 30 dollars .its a physical flight stick .ya know the one you see the pilots grabbing in the plane that stick that’s in between the legs.

How to start the engine aircraft

Hey, I got a stick it´s fine but.. I can´t propellery look around, I have little button that should move camera, I would like it to move slowly to direction I am prssing it, but it only instantly looks to the right when I prees it to the right. This disallows me from tailing enemies above or next to me and looking to the specific angle, can anyone tell me if I can set it up somehow please? I have T-Flight Hotas X stick.

+Davi Lu if you use the keys to look around, I recommend to use a reset key that turns the view to the aiming reticle instantly when you have to aim. I personally used the Mouse to look around. I held the stick in my left hand and the mouse in the right hand. It's much more precise and you can look around quick and slow. With keys the camera always turns at the same speed. When you use the mouse to look around, you can use the keys for moving the head around in the cockpit which is also very useful.

+Davi Lu Yeah I used mouse to look to angles I couldn´t with button, and reset button will be a little problem because now already I have rockets and bombs on same button because I don´t have them enough :DD

Whenever I use a mouse control and I pull a sharp turn, my plane goes into a spin. Why and how can I avoid doing this?

Happens to me too lol. I think it's because you turn to hard while having a low speed

@@Bloodbone naaaah this is when I dive onto someone and try to pull up round and go back in for another pass. The plane just shakes rapidly as I turn and will just give up and spin if I carry on like this.

@@nomisekul4969 A spin happens because one wing has a higher angle of attack than the other. In other words, wrenching the controls around too harshly is not a good idea, especially at high speeds. The easiest solution to preventing a spin is to take it easy and move the mouse closer to the center if it starts to shake considerably or Wingtip vortices start to appear (Those white streaks that whistle). I'd go into more detail on how to maintain control of it, but I'm still learning how to fly stick in war thunder. Although if you do get into a spin, put your throttle to 0%, center the mouse and apply full rudder to the opposite direction of the spin. Eventually, it'll automatically nose-down and regain control. Hope this helps! (WT: British_Chap)

Xraysoldier101 use a Logitech extreme 3d pro, the main thing to look for is a joystick with a twist motion (for the rudder movement) and lots of buttons
