I think that one of the reasons people become so passionate about BTS is because they use their music to talk about very deep and meaningful subjects. Everyone loves a bop and a love song now and again, but those aren't the songs that make ARMYs. Every ARMY can point to at least one song by BTS that speaks to them in a personal way. That makes them feel seen and understood. That literally saves their life.

Thanks for taking out time to really understand BTS's music. If you liked it, I think you will also like "Ugh" and "Bapsae". If you watch them, make sure to watch the explanation video too. Many people don't realise BTS's music go DEEP and go on to compare them with other K-pop groups! BTS is more than K-pop, I would say, even more than music if you really look closely! I hope you get to explore the themes of "persona", "ego" and "shadow" they deal with in their music! They have had a huge impact on my life. I wish more people could take real advantage of them and the ideas they propagate through their music. The world would be better and kinder place for sure! Also, I hope you get through your auditions! Fighting!💜

As to Suga being at the top, I think it was a flex once, but now it isn't something Suga really "enjoys." In his solo song Intro: Shadow for BTS' map of the soul 7 album, he essentially has an argument with himself about it. Using three distinct rapping styles and vocal tones, he creates the three characters in his head. The Suga who is afraid of fame, the Suga who wants more, and the very practical Suga who asks "isn't this what you wanted?" It is an incredible example of his skills as a rapper and a lyricist, but for me the most incredible thing about it is the honesty, not many artists are this honest with themselves, let alone with their fans. I will leave a link to a video that has a good quality translation. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6Fo1petl5e-cso.html I think you would really enjoy Baepsae, it is one of BTS' more political songs and I think you will like the sound musically as well. DKDKTV have an explanation to it, and there are lots of live performances, but my favourite live performance has the original dance choreography that J-Hope made, and they perform it with delicious sarcasm and scathing anger. Baepsae is one of their songs which doesn't translate cleanly into English due to using a lot of Korean slang terms so while this video does have subtitles, I think you would be better off watching the explanation first so you can understand the subtitles and put the sarcasm and anger in context. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZIR_rtWsmNbbitI.html

Fun facts: -When Suga played the mad king he was drunk, on purpose, and nobody in the set knew. -Suga's given name is Min Yoongi, Min being his family name. There's very few family names in Korea, unlike other countries so it's kind of easy to know where your family comes from. The name Min comes from royalty. Suga is the direct descendant of kings.

In the last verse I think Suga means that he has everything he wants and he's at the top but he wants to stay grounded and humble, not necessarily disappointed but it is isn't really all it's cracked up to be when you get greedy. I make this assumption because of lyrics he's used in his BTS solo "Shadow" where he says he has big cars big house big rings (which is his very first lyrics in their debut song "No More Dream") but no one told him it's lonely at the top. IMO

As you dig into BTS you will find story telling, lyricism, and metaphors the likes we just don’t see in western pop music (or k pop music). We recommend explanation videos for so many songs and MVs because they are too complex for a simple comment. Like the song Blood Sweat and Tears is based and quotes Pulitzer Prize winning book Damien by Herman Hesse it’s got an MV so ridiculously complex layered with Easter eggs and a totally amazing catchy pop song. They also have the whole Bangtan Universe set of songs which have a whole excessively complex plot spanning years. Enjoy the rabbit hole of BTS. Bangers with deep complexity and depth.

What Suga says about being bored at the top reminds me of Eminem when he wishes he had that hunger in him again and that challenge. I think rappers like them strive for the challenge to prove others wrong and that is badass.

It is mind blowing at first for people in the American market. We are accustomed to songs about love, hate and relationships. As you are learning they are able to utilize all of the many talents all 7 members possess. There can be many layers to any given song BUT the thing to remember is that the music is still banging and can be enjoyed at whichever level you want to dig into. There is the saying that BTS finds you when you are ready. Suga once said the day you first heard us is the day we debuted for you. 💜

Thank you for taking the time to watch this.....they are genius songwriters and that's the main reason why this grandma is an ARMY!! You'll get loads of suggestions on what to watch next, but I'd like to suggest watching the introduction song to Map of the Soul. It's RM's rap song called 'Persona'. In the explanation video you will learn that the song is based on Swiss Psychiatrist Carl Jung's theory of the struggle to accept all parts of one's self. In Daechwita, while it may be related to Suga's desire to take down the industry....it also relates to 'old' Suga vs. 'new' Suga and the battle for acceptance that's explained in 'Persona'....in the end, which Suga wins? You are going to see other mv's that also relate to this theory. Obvious ones are JHope's 'Ego' and Suga's 'Shadow'....other songs like 'Black Swan' use images like black and white and shadows to relate. I am SO thankful to DKDKTV and some other channels for their explanations, else we would only be skimming the surface! There are also other introduction-type videos that explain how very difficult BTS had it early on and to this day are still receiving death threats that seem related to Kpop 'fandom' fights, rather than anything personal against a Member. Such is the culture and competitive nature of the Kpop industry and a whole other story. Thank you again. I'm surprised to hear that you've been on your own since such a young age....maybe as you get to know us, you'll share more. ARMY can be very loving, kind and supportive. ARMY grandma (I'm a gngr too)

Thank for doing this! I love how much thought all of the BTS members put into their songs and videos. Ugh and Ddaeng are great songs featuring the rap line (DKDKTV explanation extremely helpful here). You can find live performances with subtitles. But even their non-rap songs like Idol (DKDKTV explanation is great) that sound fun or slower songs like Spring Day (Bulletproof Vibes is my fav explanation for it’s clarity and conciseness so I recommend this first, but the Italian Army explanation goes pretty deep into events and is much longer) have so much going on. Spring Day is especially meaningful and moving. Having a blast watching your BTS journey 💜

BTS have lots of deep songs.....xD But some people have a hard time comprehending what they mean since BTS are genius at word play and uses a lot of metaphors in their lyrics and MV Which is why those songs were underrated because only few understand them, unless of course you react to the explaination vids Songs example are: Baepsae, Ugh!, Am I wrong?, Spine Breaker, Dis-sease, Spring Day, Ddaeng, and lots of lots more You need to react to their explaination vids, because those types of songs are quite hard to understand Also BTS are also known for their BOLDNESS for releasing a lot of controversial songs that puts their career on the line Just to voice out the surpressed voices of the masses about the issues and injustice towards their generation and society And that's the main reason why BTS is in the top today, they focus more on their purpose rather than their goals

Agust D is SUGA's altar ego. It's his solo performance name. Of course the real him is Min Yoongi. The rest of the group almost always call him, Yoongi now. You gasped when you heard that slaves weren't thought of as people but that was true throughout the world where there were slaves. Although today slavery is illegal there are still modern day slaves who are similarly badly treated. Bang PD now let's them call him, hyung, I believe, so they don't have to be so formal with him. That it is a special honour for them. SUGA enjoys performing but his first love is production. Someone suggested you listen to 'Baepsae' for a song with a social commentary but there's also 'Go Go' which falls into that category and Dope too. I think DKDK has explanation videos for all those. 'Baepsae and 'Go Go' have great dance practice videos too. Thanks for reacting, Kaz.

No, you were right, Suga is his BTS alias, AgustD - his solo alter ego and his real name is Yoongi. I think this channel prefer to use "Suga" instead of "Yoongi" in the sake of politeness, because they can't use proper honorifics speaking in English and just call Yoongi by his real name is far too much familiarity. But this is just my guess. This explanation is a little too much conspiracy, but very interesting non the less. AgustD himself said that the mad king is he himself from 2016 (he was blonde at that time). He had a lot of anger and pain, he wanted more and more and eventually he became tyrant. But now he wants be himself, "put his feet on the ground", so he fight with his past self trying to kill his dark side. Yoongi often talks about this duality of himself in his songs, even in his verses in BTS songs, like Magic Shop, for example.

Another interpretation of this video is that the early Suga wanted to be the top, a king. He wanted money, power, fame. But when he got it, it seemed disappointing and he had nowhere else to reach for. The enlightened peasant (older Suga) kills his old selfish self who he no longer identifies. He has another song with this same theme: Interlude, Shadow. www.google.com/search?q=august+d+i+wanna+be+a+rockstar+song&sxsrf=ALiCzsYc6CIvTNEnmKSfHWaVsLf6W3cPFQ%3A1669782914438&source=hp&ei=gt2GY6PsGPugkPIP7L2smAY&iflsig=AJiK0e8AAAAAY4brkvR1nM7nvOVYb08YAkrxWJxYpPo0&oq=August+D+%22I+wanna+be+a+rockstar&gs_lcp=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&sclient=gws-wiz#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:c48ac1fb,vid:PV1gCvzpSy0 Good luck on your auditions!!
