@@JH-nb6nw Lenz-kuh-necht. "ch" in german can be pronounced both as "sh" or as this raspy, throat cancer noise that's used nowhere in the english language. There's no rule that says when which pronunciation is correct so it's guess-work. Landsknecht uses the "sh" sound so i'd write it phonetically in english as "Lunds-knasht". An example for the raspy "ch" would be Achtung if you ever heard that. Edit: pronunciation, not pronounciation

@@towelie5997 No insult, but are you native German? ‚ch‘ is only ‚sh‘ when in combination with an ‚s‘ (‚sch‘). ‚Landsknecht‘ doesn’t have the ‚s‘, right? Maybe in a few German dialects the ‚ch‘ turns into something similar to the English ‚sh‘, but not in common German.

@@HellOnToastbrot I am and you're right, there's a difference between "ch" and "sch" but it's relatively small and i didn't know how to explain it better to an english speaker. I think english doesn't have our "soft ch" pronunciation as well as the "raspy ch" so "sh" was the closest aproximation i could think of to try to explain it. It's not perfect but it's really hard to talk about that stuff accurately in writing.

I really appreciate your work drongo. Have been watching your videos on a daily basis since the release of aoe4 and absolutely love your work. The combination of shout casting and knowledge dropping makes it not only entertaining but also a really good source of information. You are really pumping out great content, don't get burned out lad :P

Really like the HRE, but I´d wish they had more unique units. Landsknechts are cool, but they seem to rarely do much as a light unit in the later game just gets destroyed by ranged units. Meanwhile the French have their Royal Knights, their Crossbowmen, their Royal Artillery etc. Give the HRE some more flavor; maybe a special Halberdier or Handgunner, or special economic unit like a Hnseatic Merchant that buffs trade etc.

They *technically* have a special Halberdier with their Spears being able to get +3 Melee armour via an Imperial age tech. It gives you a very cheap frontline unit that can hold it's ground agaisnt most enemies, even MMA. They won't beat the MMA, but they'll last a lot longer, allowing you to invest more ressources into other units like siege. It's a really cool and fun tech to have, being able to swarm with very cheap units to block your enemy while you advance with siege behind. My only gripe with this is that the tech is Imperial age, I feel it would open more strategies if it was available in Castle Age.

I thought landsknechts are useless until I had to build them for the mastery. The are absolutely nuts in greater numbers. But your point is obviously correct. They need to get in melee range and thats probably very hard against mass archers and mangonels. However if they do hit melee range they absolutely melt through anything. Check the video of noob of empires. He compared landsknecht to other units, maa for example. Even though they die faster the outcome of a mixed battle was the same or in favor of landsknechts. So i guess they aren't useless but you really need to watch out for the enemys comp. However, they excel in greater numbers. Small numbers just die before doing anything.

For AOE3. He has some competition with AOE4 because of SOTL.

The HRE is one of those Civs I really want to be good. And they are if your given time. I love the mass Infantry and how strong their MAA are.

Make taking damage from a treb recently reduce the effectiveness of repair effects. This would (possibly) give a reason to mix them when dealing with someone who is turtling, even if you have other siege.

I really like this idea. Increasing the damage could make them destroy buildings too fast, but to reduce the effectiveness of repairing creates a very interesting mechanic.

Fantastic game, we got all units, keeps and walls. Also battles all over the map.

Man, Chinese tax is so underestimated.. especially when you mix it with trading. A couple markets in the academy influence can accrue massive tax gold, along with all your other buildings.. especially the granaries, but once again i see a basically unusable academy placement.. like you were saying Chinese are a base building civ, if you are efficient with your building placement it can really pay off. Not only that but he wasn’t using his officials to supervise the big gold mines when he had the chance, that’s a potential extra 1600 gold, pretty huge.

Yeah. Late game Kelazhur had 50~ pop space, 2k+ food and 1,3k+ wood and ZERO Markets. Might've been an oversight but it coulda helped him greatly specially with such secure trade lines.

Could prelate buffing archers/crossbowmen be very good?

I don’t even really like watching 1v1 strategy games and I’ve subbed this week to you. Very enjoyable to watch. Never played AOE4 and already feel like I know so much! Would love to see a #1 v #2 or top ten at least but really the ones I enjoy aren’t the ones they roll the opposition it’s those where we get to see clever players adapting on the fly and constantly one upping and countering each other until eventually the micro and better strategy wins out

I think you mean to say that the springald now serves as an anti-air unit that allows the player to achieve air superiority over their opponent if utilized correctly. Awesome game! Thanks for casting, Drongo.

Trebuchets for mongols is only 400 wood and 150 gold, so to give a buff to trebuchets you would need to make even more cheap for mongols

Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of margin left, keep in mind that his opponent had siege superiority and currently pushing with cannons while Kelazhur was completely out of gold and using Age 2 Archers. He wasn't able to match or stop Beasty. Had he transitionned over to trading earlier, he would have had a better chance but he thought he could claim the center with his castles.

Gotta be honest, I really dislike how pure ranged infantry is actually viable vs melee infantry via kiting. You cannot kite with a bow or a crossbow. simply not possible. yeah I know it isnt a simulation, but this one is so stupid I cant get over it.

Hre eco's better and gets better bang for it's buck than china. Prelate 40% impOf: 20% max 4 IO's While HRE has prelates ready to grab relics on age 3 completion. MAA of the HRE are really strong vs most chinese stuff forcing them to go mass crossbows which makes them predictable. Regnitz, palace of swabia Springald nerfs also hit china really hard. It's a lot harder to defend yourself vs mango's as china now. NoB's are still underperforming in comparrison (even after the buffs), just due to the nature of the differences between them. (Range, projectile speed, accuracy and the one being a volley while the other barages) Late game culvs just make things nearly untennable for china unless you have bombard mass + hp upgrades + reload drills + pyro But HRE outperforms china on every step there. It's a gruesome and unpleasant matchup for china.

The Landsknecht pronunciation is pretty good for an english speaker. What annoys me is your pronunciation of the letter H. It is not "hage" but "age" like in age of empires. Not "hage pea", its "age pea".

Drongo, I like your videos, very entertaining. You don't have to pronounce the names correctly.. But why not just droo the talk about the pronounciation? Saying over and over that you don't know how to pronounce it or saying you think yiu are pronouncing it correctly is the annoying part for me. Sorry, just my two cents..
