Huge BeastyQt fan and while I’m a low elo HRE main I really feel like no one is playing this civ optimally, even Beasty. 1. Losing the first barracks without using emergency repairs almost threw the whole game for him. 2. He scouted the double stable/archery and then only made spears when one of the main HRE features is feudal maa which smack horseman, archers, and early tower rushes. They cost gold and more food potentially delaying castle but castling early with no map presence to take the relics is pointless. The early maa give you the map presence to take the relics. Escorting double prelates with maa is tough depending on how military heavy the enemy is but sending naked prelates to any relic other than the one freebie per map puts the game to a coin flip. 3. Tower emplacements are cheaper for HRE and one inspired stone miner can easily let you put arrow slits on a couple towers to stop enemies from walling you in. 4. The transition to a gold heavy army using the Regnitz and Swabia boom was perfect but I think he could have had an easier time early game using maa and defensive towers with arrow slits. Even if his castle was 2 minutes later he would still be ahead of opponent with prelates already made. TL;DR: No one is using the Aachen Chapel boom and early maa to actually take the relics methodically. Yes I am a low elo noob but I know strategy and love HRE. Currently most pro HRE games look like a coin flip where they castle faster their opponent by minutes but then have no map control and it’s a chaotic 50/50 on whether they get the relics or not.

But you’re low elo with a strong civ.. I think they have reasons for doing most of what they do and I think you misunderstand. There are more aspects to consider when playing at top tier rank.

@@MrRvSluis I agree, it is always easier said than done and other than missing the emergency repairs to save the barracks being a clear mistake I can’t guarantee my play style would be effective at his level. The maa definitely get kited more at higher levels although are tanky enough to be healed by prelates between skirmishes. I have seen a game by The Mistah where he won decisively prioritizing map control and getting the relics after establishing feudal dominance/equality but he used horseman as opposed to the feudal maa. Assuming I am on to something I’m not saying HRE would be OP if played like this but a player with a 50% win rate on HRE could bring it up to 55% if they utilize all of the civs built in strengths. Not long ago people slept on Delhi and Abbasid because they hadn’t been optimized as I am suggesting hasn’t been done for HRE.

MAA are not the unit you want to use to stabilise as HRE, or to push early castle age as HRE. Pike + Land is vastly superior for that thanks to the more affordable food cost, train speed and mobility, or knights thanks to the raiding potential. MAA requires multiple upgrades to be efficient, they are rather slow, and best used when you want to push your opponent under his defensive structures. Use them to kill you opponent rather than to stay alive pretty much Also until you are on 20+ farms, spamming MAA will only force you into an earlier farm transition, which is usually something you don't want to do until Imperial Age You using early MAA in a boomy strategy might sound good, but it may very well be the reason you are still low ELO

@@frankbianco2832 Delhi and Abbasid got huge buffs, they didn't become popular just because people "realised" they are good. Putting a Prelate to inspire one stone miner is a huge blow to early economy, because this Prelate in not inspiring 8 workers on food, gold or wood. If you are talking about creating one specifically for this task, you are going slightly behind in vills and sacrifice something close to a minute to your Castle Age time due to gold cost. This game Beasty had stone in range of the Chapel, but that's not going to be the case every game. PUP has slight buffs to the Meinwerk Palace. Hope this landmark is going to get more usage in the future to get map control for obtaining the relics in Castle Age.

I dont get why kasva didnt invest 1 monk to get sacred sites and make the HRE come out of the base instead of pushing into it. feels icredibly free.

That's my major cringe issue about this. It would also have earned him a huge trickle of gold. Still he likely assumed that his walled in opponent was done for I guess, but the Cathedral gold trickle is busted.

Completely in related but I am so glad they took animation canceling out of the game. I can’t even believe tried to defend that crap.

The game is being updated slowly, most likely due to lack of proper investment from Microsoft. But there is a rating since the release. Just no ranked seasons, which is essentially just an icing on the cake. The game already tracks your Elo and puts you against players of the similar skill, so it's perfectly playable right now.

If I don't manage to win the game in feudal or say Castle then I'm sure I'm losing in the imperial. I've literally lost all my 1v1 games that go to imperial(with the exception of 1 or 2 maybe). But let's see if this video can help out 😣

Maybe that's because you invested in early game army, didn't manage to damage enemy eco enough to justify the opportunity cost, and got behind in eco by the moment you hit Imperial as a result?

2 relic slots is in Public Update Preview, it's not the official part of the game yet.
