I want to show the realities of "clearing your face" with this video. You will still break out from time to time, you will still deal with pimples but it should not ruin your confidence! I think so many of us put too many emphasis on being 100% clear instead of working on our confidence and self-development while trying to clear our acne. Thanks, this was highly needed. I've been off accutane for a few months now, and after I got 2 pimples due to my change of contraception, I went into total panic mode and bawled up crying in my bfs arms for hours. I've also always had that mindset, that happiness will just magically come to me. My self-esteem is still crushed, despite my skin being 98% clear, I'm still self-conscious about others looking me directly in the eye. It's an attitude of blame that you start to adept and it's hard to get rid of. I'm now aware of the fact, that I have to change myself, because acne can't and shouldn't be the essential factor deciding about my worth. Thanks Brian.

I have actually been struggling with this a little bit lately and I am really glad that I saw this video get uploaded while I'm going through it at this time. You really give me the drive to recognize that 90% clear is still fine and shouldn't effect me. You're right, the fear that it'll go from 90% to 80% and then just keep avalanching is there in the back of my mind but you and this video help me realize that it'll be fine and everything is under control. The confidence I gained when I got 100% clear is still here and it was fading a little bit until I watched this video. Thank you so much Brain!!!!

I needed this video rn. I started watching your videos in 2014 right before I went on my first round of accutane and was so encouraged by your positivity and heart. It cleared me up, but they my acne came back about 9 months later as if I'd never been on accutane-> rd2. Now, after almost 2 years of what you call "completely clear" (I seriously have not had ANY pimples in that time), my acne is coming back. BUT this time around I am determined to stay positive and this video was something I needed to see. thank you!

You're so on it in this vid, Brian. That "I won't be happy until I'm 100% clear" mentality is SO damn toxic because it will never come true. Even models and celebrities have occasional breakouts. No one is perfect. For me, that mentality became obsessively compulsive to the point that I had to seek therapy in order to break free of it.

This was such an awesome vid!! I’m so glad I came across it!!! You are absolutely right!! Acne doesn’t determine my worth!!! The mission is to morph my mind and thoughts into believing the same thing. My social media participation had pretty much halted, I stay home all the time, I don’t go after jobs I’m interested in...I’m literally not living while being alive. And now that I put things into perspective, I’m only wasting time that could be well spent regardless of acne or no acne. Thanks again for such a thought-provoking video!!!

People tell me my acne is not bad at all... I remember I went to the dermatologist and the lady told me "your acne is good compared to other people I've treated" I think I see myself differently than other people see me... And I think that goes for a lot of us with acne. All we see is our pimples but I don't think other people notice it as much as we do. We are our own worst enemies alot of the time sadly 😏

I’ve cleared my face by using antibacterial facial soap every evening and every time after shaving, then 96° alcohol, then moisturizing facial cream (any brand). It didn’t solve the problem completely, but now my face at least looks like that of a normal human being. Going vegetarian and later vegan made little difference for me.

Thank you so much for this video. I feel like especially as a woman we live in a country that is so skin and beauty obsessed . I stopped wearing makeup and just embraced my acne and my self esteem has gone up because I feel so free . I'm so thankful for my skin because it's an organ that protects me and it gives me a lot of signals of what's going on inside . Yesterday I had a stressful conversation and today I woke up with an acne bump . And I like that because it means I have to calm and take care of myself.

I never had pimples as a teen. Now that i am 29... I have hit 2nd puberty and I cant stop breaking out. When i got married I had clear skin. Now my skin breaks out ALL THE TIME. I'm talking, face, chest, arms, and a few on my back. My husband has said it has effected his attraction to me. That I am not as attractive and it HURTS SO BAD. My self esteem has never been so low. I use to be SO PRETTY. I could do my make up in 10 min or less. Now it takes me about an hour to cover my face. And it doesn't even look good 80% of the time because it looks like i coated a crunch bar in foundation. The Cystic acne and dry skin hurts so bad. I miss feeling pretty now I just look like a 35 year old 8th grader. But I'm 29. 😭💔

NoNotLikeThePornStar This saddens me. I used to have really bad acne also, all along my jaw line and it started its way up my face. I was so ashamed because I was turning 21 at the time, just started dating this awesome guy, and I felt very self conscious. But what I can tell you is that it gets better. And honestly, it helps a lot to have people in your life that can accept it and support you through your acne journey. My boyfriend has always made sure that everything will be ok and has never judged me. He was so patient. I really hope your husband can learn to support you in this, and please see a dermatologist. I’ve tried many things myself, but nothing beats the doctors advice and medications. I’ve had to go on antibiotics along with topical creams for about a year and a half. Everything takes time. But now I am acne free-ish (still 1 pimple every now and then but I can live with that) best wishes to you 💗

Hi Brian, I've been watching you since the accutane series when I had super bad acne and you have changed my life. I used to be so unconfident and upset at myself for having acne. I went on accutane when you did, and you kept me strong. people saw me for more than my skin, and I never saw that until I watched you. I want to thank you for showing me that I am not what I look like, but what I present myself as.

Could you do an updated skin care routine for us? I know that males' skin is a little different from females, but it might give some insight into what vegan products you use. Thanks for everything!

I too found out I broke out from gluten. Among other things like dairy & grains. My body is more prone to inflammation and I suffer from insulin resistance. So when I consumed grains, refined sugar, etc. it would spike my cortisol levels resulting in acne. Not to mention even “healthy” grains such as quinoa which is a pseudograin & your body can still process & react the same way as it can to gluten. I also had poor gut health, but most people with acne do. End of rant, but just wanted to also vouch that each persons acne is different. No matter how crazy the cause may seem.

My problem isn't my skin. My problem is the world's inability to accept my skin as it is without asking me to change it and/or deeming it as something "undesirable". Being able to brush off criticisms takes a lot of mental strength & I am grateful for having the opportunity to practice being a stronger & more loving person each time these criticisms are presented to me.

Some of this information may have been said again but unfortunately most people will not go back to older videos to find it, so that information won't help those people. My advice will always be that you should work on your inner growth as well as your outer growth but I can use my day to day situations and questions asked to create new videos to get this information across. For example, I have never made a video addressing new breakouts and showing them since I've cleared :)
