10000% true ATB story right here… After their original singer Nick left, right before Rareform was released, they practiced in a house in St Paul off of Dale. I lived in that basement bedroom and would wake up Saturdays to them practicing feet away from me. I woke up one day in particular to them ripping Berzerker and walked out of the room. Mind you, there was only a wall separating us. I walked out and they finished the song and Justin said “Oh shit, we didn’t know anyone was home sorry dude.” To which I responded “After the Burial is my alarm clock, what’s cooler then that?” Awesome dudes. Love reconnecting with Trent and Dan whenever I see them. Twin Cities Crush. Been with them since they played “the rock” in maple wood to a room of 50 people. Long live ATB.

I remember seeing them at the rock as well in a battle of the bands. Trent was rocking i believe a bc rich guitar with spiked wristbands on and Justin had a blueish purple Ibanez. Its amazing to see how far they've come. Love this band.

Was that a show when Nick did a barrel role over the back of another guy on stage? Just dug out their 3 song demo from before Forging! My buddies (in Less Spoken) opened for them a few times. My claim to fame was opening for ATB with LS as the stand in guitar at a coffee shop in St Cloud. I love ATB. Edit: I mis-read your comment, this was a little before Forging came out.

Smoked doobies with them in Duluth in their tour van. Been to all their triple rock shows. Even the one where Nick came back to do full guest vocals after rareform. Amazing times my friend.

Thanks, glad his spirit lives on through the band. He was an awesome dude. I knew him since childhood. He introduced me to Meshuggah before I'd ever heard of them and as a Pantera/Hatebreed fan I wasn't sure what to think about it. Took me a long time to see what he saw in the style. With Trent they turned it into their own style. Justin was the greatest guy too. Bumped into him after they went on their first international tour at the grocery store. He was asking me all about my life, couldn't get a question in myself. Miss you Justin. You made your mark on the world and we all still see you when we hear the music.

My favourite band after Meshuggah.

After the Burial is the soundtrack to my entire life; from their start during my high school days (2005ish), my college days (2005-6ish), my tours in Iraq and Afghanistan (2008-2010), my marriage (2011), the birth of my child (2015), my lowest low (2014), my highest highs (2015 to present day), and every mundane and monumental day in-between... and, to be quite honest, they will likely be the last band I listen to before I leave this world (in, god willing, sixty more years.) And at the risk of sounding insanely over dramatic, I owe my life to these gentlemen (see "lowest low" above.) I mean that with more gravity and more sincerity than I can ever properly articulate. That is the truth; that is the reality of my life. And I can never say thank you enough. Truly, THANK YOU guys.

And even crazier (ready for this?), people can-- and often do-- start college the same calendar year that they graduate high school. The combination of the sludgy tempo of the snare is the perfect blend for speed and bursts of the double bass. All his songs are like this. Just makes for a heavier sound. Dan is a fucking machine!
