Look how happy those people look. That's what happens when you spend time with people instead of technology. I have read in one study there are tribes in Africa that really struggles to survive but not one of the tribe members have experienced depression. Thats an indicator that people living in west is totally doing something wrong.

That's because all they think about is literally surviving. You have all your needs met, or can be met w/ little to no effort. I think I know the tribe you're speaking of and when they asked a villager what happiness is, his answer was "baboon meat and honey..you can't be happy w/ out baboon meat and honey", when asked what makes him sad he answered "not having baboon meat". There lives are in a constant state of survival, if they find no food, they go hungry (and real hunger is painful). I don't even know if they'd understand the word "depression"...who has time to be depressed? They wouldn't survive very long and would be out of the village, so yeah, there isn't much "sleeping till noon" depression, or sulking over "how miserable my life is"...they don't have time contemplating their lives, only living it.

I didn't mean they don't have access to Instagram but that they probably aren't sitting at the local coffee shop instagraming all day like people who live in cities do. I know rural people are using Instagram too. To be frank, I didn't mean anything offensive at all. I grew up on a dairy farm in Michigan USA and we just didn't have time for goofing around like kids from town did. We worked all day everyday.

One of the many reasons I want to go into anthropology is this video. One of the most purest forms of expression is the very joy these tribesman get from things like SC filters. Something we take for granted and kinda have a love hate relationship with (due to overuse), is something amazing to a person living in a place that can be harsh like Africa. If there’s anything we could learn from this, is that something we take for granted can be a source of joy and laughter to another person.
