Does This African Kid Still Think I'm A Ghost? 1 Year Later! (

Last year, I scared a little girl in the Uganda countryside by being white. I wanted to try and find her again to say sorry, and also bring along some gifts to make up for what happened. Miss Josey would join me for this important mission.

This and the last video are one of the most beautiful videos I have seen. So much positivity, it really as humans can bond easily and all the bad in the world can be trampled by our collective power. We are born good inherently, that's our biggest power, power of being social, the ability to come together is what has helped us reach so far. We have no enemies, and I cant think of any reason why we should fight over political, religious or racial reasons. This personally is what motivates me, a better society for all, especially for children who don't get opportunities or don't get a good upbringing. Great work.

I'm African American. I grew up in Texas in a big city that's still mostly racially segregated. As a kid, I thought white people's skin *had* to be cold, because how else could it get white like that? I had a white teacher in the 4th grade who complained about the hot weather and humidity down South and said it was a lot colder up North. It fit into my theory that white people were always cold. I figured that white people came from the Northern US/Canada and all the white folks Down South were transplants and immigrants. This is before I knew about the existence of Europe. I grew up in a 60% white country thinking this, I could only imagine what could be going through the head of a black kid in a country where 99.9% of the population is black.

I was born in Uganda. Beautiful greenery and hearing the language is very nostalgic. We Had to leave Uganda for political reasons. But will never forget the beauty of Uganda. We went back to visit and took many items to give away. No matter how much you take to give away it is never enough. While you were showering Maria with gifts other kids were looking deprived and desperate. They have nothing. It is very sad to see the poverty. Their culture is so polite. They kneel down to receive gifts & to greet. This I will never forget growing up in Uganda.

I spent a good part of my young childhood in rural Burundi being a muzungu also visited the neighbouring countries, so Uganda looks like home to me... I had similar experiences since most locals had never seen a small pale white boy with redish golden hair... I had to cut my hair short after two days because a huge group of local kids would sneak up on me and pull my hair because they all wanted to feel the long golden locks! LOL -They all became my friends later when we realized we all just wanted to have fun; after 3 short months I was talking kirundi fluently and spend every day playing and exploring the hills with my friends... It was my childhood paradise and some of the happiest and most influential memories of my life!

All this stuff is normalised nowadays and kids never go out and play cos it’s so expected to be on a screen. Can’t blame kids for what adults make, sell and then buy for them

@🖤QueenOfRavens🖤 and about the work thing. You can’t expect a 12/13 year old to want to work, it’s delusional. And maturity/responsibility doesn’t start until around 17 (mostly for boys), at 12 you are only just reaching teen years and obviously going through puberty, teen problems, friendship loss and maybe even a want for a relationship soon. I hear many teachers talk about how lazy, naughty, immature and sh1tty they was at 13. It takes time to grow up and no one should expect a young teen to be perfect and never be moody or to Lazy to do somet

All of us kids wanted to know them and it was such an event that we’d talk about it for so long after they came. I still remember this van that came that had antlers on the grill and these two musicians were living out of it. I had to have been Maria’s age. She’s going to remember you for the rest of her life. I have friends there that I keep in touch with. We were so disappointed when Covid hit because UG was not letting anyone in or out so we have no been back since 2019. Watching you has kept my heart alive for Africa and you encouraged me to start learning Swahili. Traveling with a group was nice and had it perks but going it alone is something I would love to experience. We are praying we can travel there again one day. I didn't see much joy on the kid's face now either. She looked very ill at ease or perhaps sick. And watching the white man dole out cheap candies and dollar store toys made me feel ill. Looked like something from the 18th century. So condescending and so utterly useless. Donating to a NGO or even better, bringing some simple medicine like Tylenol or hydration fluids for treating diarrhea would make so much more sense. Pathetic.

@@jennifermackinnon6982 I took the kids being distant as them not being used to affection, especially the little girl looked so neglected the first time, that this was a noticeable emotion change for her. She did look happy. And bringing a pack of soap and toys for kids to enjoy which they clearly don’t have, was a heartfelt gesture. Not to mention some new clothes for the little girl. I mean yes he could have done a lot more but it’s not useless.

that is because children are pure and don't comprehend the troubles of the adult world yet, they can be happy and content just thinking about simple little things, most of us lose that as we get older because we live in a consumerist capitalist world where we are taught that we need to amass money and objects to be happy and we are taught not to be content with what we have but that we must always try to achieve more and get more, in one of tommy's other videos he asks a teenage girl what her favorite thing to do is and her answer was chopping wood, i seriously doubt in the western world you would find a teenager who considered a chore or working their favorite thing to do.

Not ashamed to admit I teared up while watching. I remember the first visit. I know there is still a lot of residual distrust and cynicism, and I know that such a vast disparity in wealth and opportunities puts a large burden of responsibility on you to even visit somewhere like that. But it was sweet to be able to, if only for a moment, forget about the ideological disputes and observe a connection on a human-to-human level. It really gives me a lot to think about. But I'm glad that she seems more at ease around you and I hope both her and the entire village are doing well. Seeing how much everyone in the village seem to come together, it makes me wonder, for all the quality of life that people in more developed nations have, we seem to be a lot more distant and competitive with one another. It always seems to be two steps forward and one step back. As much as there are some people that would encourage you to maintain contact, there are others who will say that you should stay away altogether. It's difficult to say what the correct thing to do is. But when I see you hugging her like that, it just makes me wish we could all live that way, without the need for so much tension. All the best.
