Loved Jacko when he played for Geelong and I am a Geelong follower. Taking away his comic antics he was actually a very capable full forward. These days we talk of PC, but back then, as of now, the PC came from the stiff conservative right winged establishment who didn't want his type of behaviour to upset the image of modern Australian football. There was one ageing gent on Harry Beitzel's radio team that couldn't stand him, it wasn't Tommy Lahiff (are you there Tommy?), got a feeling the bloke's name was Bill Jacobs (?). His coach, the legendary Tommy Hafey did back him though. He (Jacko) didn't give a fuck and this was his undoing. Good on him for being himself.

@@purebloodsunite7489 yep Jacko was only recruited to be a thug and his playing ability was questionable.... back then the fullbacks were tough and without multiple cameras many full forwards got dropped behind play... girly Sam Newman knows all about that... but Geelong lacked a boofhead type so Jacko it was.... kind of like when they recruited Mal Brown for his fighting ability.

Nothing compares to Chopper's Kerry-Anne non appearance. 11th hr panic saw plans to have him live switched, to him appearing from the Melbourne office via v-link. Alan Jones, the king of radio and most likely the instigator for that decision sat grinning from ear to rear waiting to destroy Chopper as it went to air. I won't spoil it, safe to say it was over in moments, and Alan wished he'd never agreed to appear.
