Moreover; there is an alarming deficiency of character ; voiceing there honest niche of opinion & being agressive at the contest. Media analysis , AFL physchologits , vigorous fitness expectations & left wing agenda is solely to blame.

I'm surprised this ever got to air, but what a refreshing breath of foul air!! Jacko's not the only one who thinks that Aussie rules (now called AFL) has gone down hill. Something's wrong when greats like Jesaulenko and Barassi can't watch the "modern game", and as wacko as Jacko can be, he's got a lot of good points. Pity Jacko can't box; the great Mal Meninga knocked him out easily. Great footballer, great character, great interview.

Jacko was born with a lot of ability but never developed the trait of humility, which would have got in the way of him developing relationships with people who would have helped extend his career. @@wheelson7895 yep i watched it, was remarkable. the fact that we know who is going to win the brownlow each year shows how ruined the game is. lemme explain my point tho. footy used to be a tough sport, it was high contact and u went in with the knowledge that u could very well be KO’d. it is now a case of whether u can run 16 in the beep test. athleticism like that ruins the game. i don’t reckon Dunstall could have gotten a 9 on the beep test in his prime, yet he is still one of the greats. lachie neale won the brownlow, he’s ordinary. he’s a good player, nothing special. we will never see another player, with the exception of buddy, kick 1000 goals. the only highlights we will see in the future are disposal highlights which are useless. the game isn’t like what it used to be, it’s dulled down to the point where there are no thugs, and everyone’s as good as each other

Well you are wrong, because first 10 years of his footy career he was versatile and used to play on ball also around the ground but he was so brilliant he could still kick around six goals playing in midfield at times. I have watched Jacko on here few times and I like his honesty and opinion. He was not one of my favorite players back then but did draw crowds and he added humour which is nothing wrong with that. But to all those people who dont like his opinion. Means you dont know of that era. I recommend watch some games from then, the game was tougher, higher scoring, just as fast, more direct. Was better to watch. The game these days for the last 10 or so years has been to0 congested the whole teams following ball, too much backwards sideways kicking, too much handball, and the game is lower scoring and considering they play indoors at times and manicured grounds is no excuse for this. For example 2014 was the lowest scoring year by long way since 1968. Check statistics everyone because highest scoring years was from mid 1970's till late 90's, and they played on heavier grounds at times bakc then. So called experts might say game is revolving, but right way I am not sure. Plus I have no real interest in going to a game these days, but did recently, I took my kids to go see Essendon v Melbourne few weeks ago. Was frustrating to watch with unforced errors that happened. Both teams constantly kicking short passes to opposition. Which was good for a laugh. Even a spectator called out near me can we have our money back ! If people out there think game is faster and players skills are better then 20 years ago for example then you are wrong, wrong, wrong. The skill errors I see these days would not have happened back then ! If people out there like my opinion then reply to me with you thoughts, or give a like. Cheers

Hahaha.. I was at that game. Our whole stand laughed, that's both Essendon and Melbourne supporters. The way the game is played now is a joke. 20 handballs to get out of a stoppage and then turn the ball over. I watch old classic games from the 80's and 90's sometimes and wish the AFL left the rules alone. It's not the old pure game anymore. Sad. Still love my club but get frustrated when I watch modern footy.

Dirt Road The coaches are to blame for the current tactics. It’s the fear of being scored easily off of a turnover. Plus the players are the fittest they’ve ever been, so these rolling masses of 12+ players just move all over the ground with no space to clear the ball wherever on the ground it is. Last decent team to watch was Geelong in 07/08. Then St.Kilda (Ross Lyon), Hawthorn (Al Clarkson) and Collingwood (Mick Malthouse) coaching staff devised a game plan to stop the free-flowing Geelong game style and so Geelong were forced to change tactics when Chris Scott was appointed (and won another flag with their modified version of Bomber Thompson’s game plan). But it has just degenerated into a scrum these days. Appalling to watch.

Why does every couch potato think higher scoring = better???? I think you mean evolving, not revolving, ya fkn drongo. So back in the 80s, where it was all about kicking back and forth constantly like a game of ariel ping pong......wonder where that nickname came from.......that took more skill? I think you'd say the game is played faster now. And do you know if something is played faster, it gives the players less time to perfect execution of decision making & skill? Spoilers - it does.

Go Jacko, this interview will have many critics, that's because most of our far to precious society can't handle the truth. They live in denial in their hypocritical little world, where they think they know best, yet look at what they're doing to this world and its people, what a mess. All I can say is, I identify with you in every way, you are completely correct with all you say, and the way you see things. More power to you.

A true ‘Grass Roots’ player that had a very real and unique football talent and freely speaks his raw uncompromising truth. Let the ‘big knobs’ squirm a bit with his ‘pin point’ and barbed comments as his views are pretty much the opinion of a larger part of the footy public anyway. The only thing with Jacko was that he was a bit too ‘Retiring and reserved’ on the ground and probably needed to come out of his shell a bit. I'm glad Jacko referenced Rugby League champ, Ray Price, because it leads me to a story that explains just how the Real Men of the contact sports like Rugby League and Aussie Rules used to think. Back in the day, the Australian Rugby League half back was Billy Smith from St George. One day, the Aussie team for a series against the English is announced and Billy has lost his spot to young upstart from Western Suburbs named Tommy Raudonikis. Well, wouldn't you know, the very next weekend, Saints are playing Western Suburbs! During the game, a scrum is packed and Wests have the feed. Tommy feeds the scrum and Wests win it. As the ball comes out of the scrum, it is rolling around all over the ground, so Tommy falls on it to avoid a knock on. As he does this, Billy Smith runs around the blind side of the scrum and kicks Tommy in the head. Here's Tommy take on the story: "Billy ran around the blind side and kicked me in the head. I was havin' a beer with him after the game and I said, 'Why'd you kick me in the head, Billy?' And Billy said, 'Just so you know I'm still around son.'" There is a very telling part of that above statement and if you can pick it out, you already know how respect works in the sometimes brutal and unforgiving world of contact sports.
