    Two things can be true at once: - Punk should've kept his cool during the scrum and addressed the rumors at another time; - Khan should've drawn a line in the sand with the EVPs and Hangman Page, as well as address the Colt Cabana rumors;

    The recurring theme of this whole mess, whether It's Hangman line or the allegations of the Elite spreading rumors about him, is Colt Cabana. I think that's the point, I think it's still all about this obsessive grudge Punk has with Cabana, this perceived betrayal by a friend he never got over and everything that relates to It infuriates Punk in an unhealthy and maybe patological way. Think about it, both Kingston and MJF said much worse worked shoot stuff in their feuds people could believe to be true. Kingston screamed at Punk that nobody wanted him there. MJF questioned if Punk was ever capable of being a top star in the first place, saying he was always second in WWE to guys like Cena and Triple H because he wasn't as good. But they also hinted at Punk being secretly a bad guy in disguise. When I watched Hangman's promo I thought It was exactly the same kind of worked shoot stuff they were saying and part of this recurring theme of "Is Punk just pretending to be a nice guy and will he turn heel and reveal himself eventually?". Except I actually thought Hangman was the tamer of the three. Why would Punk get so angry to bring it up 3 months later and be three times as unprofessional as Hangman was, publicly ruining a character AEW invested in for three years. And why would he be so angry to do that tirade at hte scrum, which managed to be damaging to both himself, as he truly looked like a mad man, and the company, who he buried in different ways? And when you consider It all started from forcefully looking for a way to bring up Colt Cabana himself during the scrum and keep referring to him while being in complete denial about it, saying he didn't care about him and in the same breath mocking him for sharing a bank account with his mother, that's really all It comes down to. Punk is obsessed and paranoid about this situation to the point of becoming completely irrational about it.

    @@jackhughes7637 I didn't miss it. I don't think It was right from Hangman either. I just don't think Punk's reaction to it is "proportional" to what Hangman did. Punk says it's a matter of professionalism, then turns around and acts twice as unprofessional as him. He says it's about a shoot comment ruining his image, yet Hangman's line Is fare less effettive in that reguard than many worked shoot lines by Kingston or MJF that were green lit by him. He says "he's trying to run a business", while proceeding to piss on that business by saying the management is bad, the talents are bad and make It to the top of AEW doesn't really count as "doing anything in the wrestling business". Punk was irrational and inconsistent all throughout. It's all "do as I say not as I do". And It all stemms from the Colt Cabana thing. Hangman's comment was about him, the Elite rumors were about Punk wanting Cabana out of AEW, the whole tirade at the scrum revolved around Cabana. It's clear as the light of day.

    I think something would’ve eventually happened anyways. I think Punks time in AEW really blasted a light on the fact that he is almost impossible to please. After listening to his podcast with Colt back in the day I totally understood his issues regarding his injuries and travel. But the issue he had with his placement and wrestlemania etc just came off to me like someone who got 85% of what they wanted and decided that because they didn’t get all of it that their entire time was a waste and horrible. And seeing how things went with AEW firmed that up for me. Look at his time in AEW as a whole. He came in and got the treatment of the top star from day 1 (which I agree he deserved). He gets a light schedule like everybody there does. He likely was being paid millions of dollars. Even when he got hurt he came back in the same spot he was in and immediately won the world title back and unfortunately got hurt right away. But even with all of that good that happened he chose to use his spotlight to tear down a ton of people in the company. Even without the post scrum fight his choice of how to be in the scrum would’ve taken all of the focus off the show and any success it had and instead focus on everything negative that he chose to say. Even if you agreed with the stuff he had an issue with such as hangman’s promo just consider the fact that he waited months to air it publicly. He easily could’ve squashed that behind the scenes in that time but chose not to. To me that says that whether it was this or something else he would’ve eventually found some issue.

    We'll definitely hear all sides of this story one day. It isn't going to happen while everyone is still active wrestlers, especially in AEW, but once the Bucks, Kenny, Page, and Punk are all retired and/or out of the company, they'll tell the whole story, just like Bret and Shawn did. As for Cody, I think he had similar issues to Punk. He didn't like how the Bucks and Kenny were doing things, but I think he was going to stay and work through it until he got the offer from WWE which was probably higher than what Tony was willing to offer a guy who could never be world champion and never be truly be the main event. Cody really hurt his value in AEW with that world title stipulation. The big offer from WWE and his issues with the Elite got him to leave. It looked like he tried to mend fences a little on his way out with that press release where he mentioned the Elite, but I don't think they'll ever be close again. Even Kenny kind of buried Cody when he was on Observer Radio after Cody left. There was definitely some issues there.

What gets me is the part of the scrum where he said if people have a problem to come see him, then he gets mad when they come to see him. I get he’s probably pissed that he was injured again. He’s probably mad that they barged in. He convinced himself that everyone is out to get him. Instead of him talking to them, he just assumed they’re the ones with the problem, not him. A big factor for me is how long he let the issues fester instead of handling them. The promo he was mad about happened around 3 months prior to the scrum. If he had followed his own standard of going to the person you have a problem with and talking about it he had 3 months to talk to those guys and get it taken care of behind closed doors professionally. He didn’t do that and let it fester for months and then blasted in publicly. And evidently he didn’t even bother to figure out if they’d even done what he accused them of. Because all of the journalists have said that they never heard the stories from the Bucks like he claimed. Maybe they all covered for them but when this stuff happens in multiple places you just have to narrow it down to the common factor, which is him.

    @@StevenBeverage you touched the point. The recurring theme of this whole mess, whether It's Hangman line or the allegations of the Elite spreading rumors about him, it's all about Colt Cabana.

If you're lucky people don't get too angry, work it out and turn everything into a work and you have some compelling television, but when you're not...well...mess like this can happen. And you don't want to flip that coin. I've always thought that in this situation no one is in the right. No one. Everything was handled badly by everybody involved. I have an honest question. Just if this is different or if they should have taken the same approach: Back when Shawn Michaels and Bret hart had that backstage fight were they literally HATED each other - WWF back then still had them wrestle and kept Personal and Professional matters seperately. Because both guys knew the business meant more than their feelings. (I think you will never like working with everyone in your workplace, that's a fact. And some may argue that sometimes you have to do what is best for business instead of for your own ego). Should they just have let this get settled peacefully backstage, so maybe keep punk and the elite separate from each other and just go out there and perform individually? Because the reason for my comparison here is, Shawn Michaels was to his own admittion - a d**k to nearly everyone backstage back in the 90's. But he was one of their biggest draws nonetheless so they kept him around for business purposes. Wouldn't it have been a better move to keep punk around because He was one of the biggest draws in the business for AEW right now? Or are those entirely different Situations? Asking the Real experts here, i just made that comparison in my head... maybe i am totally wrong i just want to know.

If TK was more owner than wrestling fan he would have been the adult and made these guys get their acts together before it all boiled over and AEW was left with egg on it's face looking like it's amateur night !!!! It was fun having Punk back one last time , but he sure did show his true colors when his ego wasn't stroked properly!!!!! I am convinced and nobody can change my mind that what triggered Punk is the injury, knowing that he would be out for a long time once again and that probably will never sniff the title scene in the future because he is injury prone and old and everybody in the locker room hates him he probably thought that it was time to burn the bridge with AEW and start over elsewhere by unleashing on every single top asset of the company. Remember that he not only shoot on the elite, but also on MJF and Kingston saying that Tony Khan forced him to work to every single jerk there was out there that had it out for him. CM Punk knew that he was done in AEW and used the scrum to bury the EVPS and emasculate the owner on his way out

    The wrestling internet community doesn't ever stop to consider certain things. Like for example....think about the most viewed, most famous channels that talk about wrestling....how many views do they get on their videos? For a few thousand to a hundred thousand mostly. How many people watch Dynamite? Almost a million. How many people watch RAW and SmackDown? From a 1.6 to 2.2 millions most times. The overlapping is not that huge. But it's not like everybody that is on the internet are marks and those who are not who watch the shows are casuals who don't know how wrestling works. There a LOT of people that know exactly how wrestling works and have opinions and stuff but don't go on the internet to speak about It. Because they don't want to, they don't feel like they need to, or quite simply, they don't have time to, because maybe they're older, they have work and families. The vocal fans on the internet are a fraction of the general wrestling fandom. Dividing it into just casuals and marks is just simplistic and not realistic.

    One aspect of this that is never mentioned is Punk's likely frustration with how the Bucks did not do what was best for business and drop the titles to FTR at All Out. You would have had a real co-main event, the biggest tag match in AEW history and all of wrestling in many years for all the titles. They could have built that all summer instead of just having the rush build for the main event. Instead the Bucks dropped the belts without even getting pinned and then tanked Punk's ratings each week with their six man main events with Kenny. Meanwhile, FTR had nothing to do again on an AEW ppv when they were white hot all summer. That is part of the reason Punk said while he is trying to sell ppv's, the Elite EVP's couldn't manage a Target.
