Generally the weirder the artist the more well read they are. Not always, but generally.

i see where hes coming from, but he is VERY lucky to have parents that actually care about him, im lucky with that as well, but i know several people who had parents that didnt give a damn about them and one of my friends had a mom that tried to murder him as a child...my point is do your best with what cards you are given, my parents were not perfect and we struggled financially but they did love me very much and i realize how lucky i was to have that

You did not get his point. There is a time and an age to blame your parents for their mistakes, he wasnt denying it. But there comes an age where you just have to make the best with that you were given, because at 40 it's not going to be useful one iota to continue to blame them. What's useful is cutting your losses, acknowledging where you were screwed over but moving on and working with what you got.

i feel like i peeked in high school but i didn't even have a good time at school i was bullied lots and i was considered very weird but i haven't made anything of my life yet :( i feel like i'm incapable of doing anything well i guess i let the bullies win and now i'm stuck because of my own fearfulness of being judged and bullied again

I know this won't be helpful but you shouldn't care what anyone says.

most parents will not have to face the worst consequences of their selfish choice to procreate. they will not have to feel the misery they created for their children. they will not even know what they have set in motion. they will be resting comfortably in their urns and coffins while their offspring are left to fend for themselves on a burning planet with drastically dwindling resources. forced to duke it out with billions of other poor souls who never asked to become fused into biological matter with consciousness of its own mortality. our parents got to live in a relative utopia, while passing on to us a far lesser quality of life. if you find this unfair and unacceptable, let your parents know how you feel before they die. it’s the only justice they will ever have to face…

This is a good person. I enjoyed listening to him talk. However I am straight so it might freak you out. But he's right man you can't lie to yourself you only love who you love and it's nobody else's question.

It doesnt matter what your parents did to you, once you reach adulthood its on you to fix it.

Incidentally i never had the chance of observing an adult blaming anything. - and moreover,attempting not to explore the area beyond 'rarely giving it a second thought'- entertain the notion to concentrate on the impossibilities of recognizing such entities, for obvious reasons.... though i must admit - in my ignorance.... personal ones. Luckily, i do not understand much,... well...avoiding absolutes ... and nothingness... one might say... i understand next to nothing....-a fair statement by most all of my missing standards. So please... ...do not waste time on explaining even what most all others without thought understands.... i wouldn't want to waste your precious time.

A lot of younger people are wanting to get rid of any sort of social pressure where they might have to respect their awful parents, but much of it is part of their youthful mindset where holding grudges and cutting people out can still put them in a place where their life is better than it would be otherwise. Most don't realize that you lose a lot of that when you get older because you stop thinking about the time you lost to negativity and start thinking more about the time you have left

I love your movies. And as you say, you’ve had a good life. Now think of all the homeless, the drug addicted, the suicides, those with lifelong depression and PTSD. Let them blame their parents. Give them that much. I blame their parents.

That's abuse. Once you get grown you could get help and press charges. For not taking the steps to heal is not anyones fault but yours. I was sexually assaulted and abused and I don't blame the family members for what I do as a grown up and do not do.

........ So a person with a privileged childhood and caring parents tells other people to not complain about having bad parents? wtf? People are going to be resentful, but .. people need to make the best of what they've got going forward and grow and become their own great parent and guide themselves provided they have the basic reading and writing skills down, they can self-seek improvement if they want it bad enough. .... but a guy who has nothing to complain about complaining about complainers makes no sense.

Yes! Thank you! Look I don't begrudge anyone of their privilege or success. I always congratulate them and am happy for them. However, I draw the line at people who come from good homes telling me or anyone with shitty parents or family what to do or how to feel or deal with it. Wtf do they know about being abandoned or neglected or tortured or living with addict parents?! FO. Seriously, FO. I understand what John is trying to say here, and I agree that you can't be in your 40s and still blaming your bad life to your parents. But at the same time, if you don't come from a shitty family, don't even THINK about giving advice to someone who is. You don't know FA.

I know it doesn’t happen to everyone but my mom grew up kicked out of her own house in the middle of the night as a kid in a very dangerous neighbourhood not knowing if she would be killed or kidnapped and still grew up to forgive it all and raise children without any level of spite or vengeance, it is possible to live in a traumatising household and still move on

You can blame your parents when they voted for Brexit

The growing numbers of autism (percentage wise) suggests otherwise. I find the mothers of autistic boys to be completely neglectful. People who work with brain damaged kids find the same. Most of the parents of these children are incompetent and probably should have been neutered.

Studentofgosset I got lucky with my mother. I feel sorry for those children that aren't so lucky. So does my spouse who has to work with challenged little ones. Their home life sounds like a broken record - clueless mom, etc. But good attempt there to try and bunch me in.

i agree with you, my cousin is autistic and his mother uses him as a status symbol of "oh look at me im raising a kid with autism i have it so hard. im such a saint" and she ends up neglecting him or treating him like an animal and that upsets me greatly, because i know that autism doesn't equal stupid, i have had very interesting conversations with autistic people and i find them to be not only insightful but most are very well mannered and nice people, and i feel upset when people pass them off as burdens or mongoloid retards because thats just not fair

Do care if having children in our 30s and 40s increases the chances of autism? No. Because damn it having kids is something you do after 35.
