He is a wonderful and humble man. I was a teacher in Egypt in 2018/2019, and when I was walking around the Khan El-Khalili [a market that is thousands of years old], I ran into him looking at an Egyptian rug. I spoke with him for a bit, and asked him if being in the this market was at all close to being on the set of Darjeeling Limited. He walked with me for a bit, explaining what it was like working with Wes, and he just seemed so happy to be where he was. No photo. No autograph. Just a nice human moment.

peaky blinders is so underrated

I love how he looks so extremely European (and melancholic), and then out of his mouth comes this tough, spitballing, sanguine, but sensitive, American. Idk just such a great texture. It’s showcased to hilarious effect in Grand Budapest Hotel.

This! That movie is in my top 3 favourite films (along with Girl, Interrupted and The Machinist) and on my list of films everyone should see at least once. A truly grounded and brutally honest film about real people facing real struggles. There's something in it that everyone can relate to or empathize with (at least everyone I've recommended the film to). For me it really hit me hard in a lot of places. A criminally underrated gem.

I saw it for the first time very recently and I don’t know how I missed it years ago. SUCH a great and important film. As great as Schindler’s list was, I love how this was the story of just one person and his journey. The fact that it was based on a TRUE story, not some fantasy of what it might have been like… It just takes my breath away.

The scene where Owen Wilson speaks to the surrealist has to be one of the biggest disproportions between brilliant casting (Adrien Brody as Salvador Dali) and awful casting (random guy as Luis Buñuel, who looks and acts nothing alike the real life Buñuel).

Adrien's empathy for those who are starving and hungry in this world, is incredible. Purely raw emotion.

Adrien Brody is so underrated and I can tell he’s a humble person in real life. He deserves to be in more movies his acting is incredible!

When i was a little kid, the first movie i ever saw Brody in was King Kong.

To see that the pianist still breaks his heart to this day shows what a genuine human being he is, underrated fantastic actor

He took method acting for the Pianist to another level. One of the greatest movies of all time. Much respect. Edit: Highly recommend the movie Septembers of Shiraz where he acts as an Iranian Jewish businessman at the time of the 1979 revolution. His performance was incredible.

Adrien is on the brink of tears so often when he recounts the past...very emotional guy. Fantastic actor.

I have never made it past the scene where he walks and cries painfully in the street and the dead bodies behind him without balling my eyeballs out. He definitely deserved the Oscar for the pianist. Brilliant masterpiece.

So, I see he is one of those Keanu, vampire type of actors who don’t age. He looks about 30ish for the past 20 years.

I was 14 when Pianist came out and my class went to see that movie in our town cinema as a school activity (I really don't know which teacher came with this idea). I was so captivated by the music in the film that I decided to become a pianist myself. I was already attending piano lessons but I decided to focus on it on a much deeper level and I auditioned to the consevatory and they accepted me. So I changed my school, moved to a dorm and succesfully finished that studies with a red diploma. I did earn my living with music for few years and than I moved to business but music is still my great passion so I established a little ensemble in our company and everybody loves our christmas gigs :) I cannot imagine my live without that experience which music studies gave me, everyday I feel thankful and privileged that I could do something what I loved for all days long. So thank you Adrien! ♥

Me too! I started watching out of curiosity then couldn't stop. So humble, thoughtful and charismatic. Love him as an actor, love him even more as a person after seeing this

3 or 4 times a year I go through phases where i think Adrien Brody is the greatest actor alive and i'll binge 10 movies, then drift off and Predators always brings me right back. Not a critically acclaimed movie by any means, but i can't stop watching it because Brody's character Royce is such a formidable foe to the predator. Its great.

I love how you can tell Adrian has such a love for the community he gets to be a part of for these movies. Hearing him get emotional about The Pianist and how it changed his point of view or how he talks about how much fun working with Wes Anderson is.

the pianist is forever a masterpiece. he gets it. when people have never been hungry they dont understand the torture and the slowing down. i starved for a few weeks during the worst year of my life and it changed me too. no one should ever go hungry. the way we waste food in modern times is absolutely obscene, nobody should be going hungry while we call ourselves civilized.

He is so humble. HE can't believe that his Adrian Brady. He is grateful for his career and is willing to learn more still about the roles he takes now. Brilliant man!

The whole section where he speaks of his role in The Pianist, it hits you right in the feels man. I remember seeing this movie for the first time and being shocked (I was young and didn't know much about WW2 or the holocaust at that time). This movie is haunting. Fantastic performance. Every time I see him, I think of it even though I've seen many of his performances since, most recently in Peaky Blinders. Formidable actor and human being.

I’m glad the Darjeeling Limited is on this list. It’s truly my favourite movie but overshadowed by Wes Anderson’s larger films. Yet, I think it’s his most human and touchingly personal story he’s made. I’m happy Adrien discussed it’s looseness.

What a great example of an actor with a great deal of empathy. A lot of famous actors lose that along the way. A true actor who does their craft because they have to because it’s who they are is often times an empath, and that’s how they can connect to the characters and to the audience so well, and can portray such depth in them.

I find him incredibly charismatic and handsome

there's something idk amazing knowing that he was deeply affected by his role in The Pianist. it sure affected him seeing you can't be helped but be touched after watching the film.

as somebody who has played piano and had a really great passion for chopin and romantic era pieces, I was literally moved to tears and awe when Brody described the method acting he made himself go through in order to achieve a better understanding and knowledge of the character, and also the fact that he learned how to play chopin, with little musical background, and while hungry, it shocks and awes me.

i saw adrien in chinatown manhattan a few years ago he was a few feet in front of me . i just said i loved him in the pianist and he graciously said thank you and waved.The man is great humble and down to earth.

I thought I loved Adrien before, after watching this interview I am totally in awe of him.

Wow, I honestly was not expecting such an engaging and thoughtful review (nor have I ever heard any other actor speak this way). He should do more of these, it's a rare combination of depth and passion. Truly lovely and one of the finest actors out there for sure!

'the pianest' is one of the movies that genuinely made me fall in love with film, with actors, with art; it's what makes me want to be an actress so bad. adrien brody is so taleneted, so humble, and the way he becomes to emotional and has become one with the roles he's played is truly inspiration. what an authentic man, i really look up to him. i hope to be as talented one day insha allah when i become an actress.

When a role changes you as a person, you know you did a good job. I am a big fan of adrien brody....man...i would want to meet him soo bad. Just having a deep conversation about life.

I remember being introduced to the pianist by my best friend at the time, she was a Russian Jew, back in the year 2005 or 2006 when I was only 13 years old and even at that age it really impacted me and ever since then I've seen that movie probably over 20 times. Each time I watch it it evokes an emotional response in me similar to Adrien Brody's. What a powerful movie and on top of that I am so grateful for it because it introduced me to Chopin

Just this little bit of insight into how he does his job and the thought that goes into it inspires respect for Adrien Brody.

I love Adrien Brody's acting he has the ablity to express melancholy and hurt and joy in a way that I can feel it when I'm watching his acting. I get lost in the movie and after the movie is over it leaves me ruminating over what I just experienced.

Sad it's not mentioned...

he's one of my faves. followed his acting career since the early 90s. glad he's still at it, and always look forward to his films

I love adrien brody. everything he does is fantastic. the magic he and wes anderson create together in the movies they do is in flawless. that H & M Chrismas Commercial is perfect and gets me every time i watch it.

He’s so elegant and such a lovely person honestly I’m gonna watch his other films now (just finishes the pianist- in awe)

The Pianist is definitely up there as one of my favorites. Very powerful movie. I loved him in The Jacket and Cadillac Records also.

I loved his role in "Bullet". Unfortunately, since the movie isn't well-known, most people haven't seen it. 🙂

His performance in the Pianist is one of, if not the finest acting of all time

His role in the pianist was amazing I was surprised how its accurate that everyone died but him

This is one of my favorites of the series. He’s such a beautiful and humble man.

I'll never forget flipping through channels at about 14-years-old with my best friend and coming across Love the Hard Way. It was a game-changer! Such a gentle, beautiful, and talented man. I met him once at a restaurant. He has the most vibrant green eyes I've ever seen. Fangirling. 😍

I don't think I've seen an actor that is this excited and happy to talk about his projects especially when he mentions his costars its so nice to see

He is and he will ever be my favourite actor, he is so special and unique and yet so humble and quiet

His performance as Luca was excellent, easily made that season for me, the fight that ends in those two face to face was one of the best moments of the show imo

Pianist is such an amazing movie. Everyone should watch that movie. Great actor. Look forward to see what’s next! Loved him in Peaky Blinders

I could honestly listen to him talk about stuff like this all day. Totally fascinating.

Darjeeling and Pianist. My two favourites. Watch them forever and they never get old. Perfection

It’s so amazing to see an actor truly dive into the layers of his performance. Only 4 minutes, I want to hear him talk about the Pianist in a much more detailed conversation

He's such a humble and kind guy. Pluse The pianist is definitely my favorite movie of all time

I am very upset they didn't have him talk about The Jacket or Detachment. Also, I was very moved by his conversation about the pianist, and realizing he never actually knew what it meant to be hungry..

Those two are my favorite films he's in that almost no one knows about.

The twist at the end of The Village was pretty incredible

I was expecting them to bring up his character Royce in Predators! 🤔💀

GQ thank you for putting the spotlight on this man!!! I’m 5 minutes in and he’s my favorite actor I’ve ever seen in interview! What a brilliant man.

King Kong is one of my favorite films of all time and I'm so happy you guys got Adrien to do this!

Adrien Brody is perfect as Luca Changretta. He’s so intimidating and you can see the kind of power and influence he wields. I think the role really needed an American actor to really bring Luca to life.

A little correction, in italian the sound “ch” is written “ci”: is not changretta but ciangretta
