WTF Happened to ADRIEN BRODY?
Ойын-сауық
In our latest WTF series, we take a look at some of our favorite stars and filmmakers who have seemingly disappeared or altered their careers over the years to the point that begs the question; WTF happened? Now, before you think we're just picking on celebrities or running some gossip rag stuff, think again! We take a fun (and sometimes funny), researched and fair approach, looking at all angles that led our subject to wherever they are now (which isn't necessarily a bad place at all). If anything, it answers the question on where these fine folks went, how they got there and where you can find 'em now.
In our latest episode of WTF Happened To... we take a look at the career of Adrien Brody, who appeared mostly as a supporting actor in films like The Thin Red Line and Summer of Sam, until taking home an Oscar for Best Actor in Roman Polanski's The Pianist in 2002. After that he did a number of high profile films, including Peter Jackson's King Kong, M. Night Shyamalan's The Village, Predators, Rian Johnson's The Brothers Bloom and Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited/The Grand Budapest Hotel before disappearing into a number of odd roles and odd films that failed to show off his caliber of talent (although he did make a recurring appearance on Peaky Blinders). Brody continues to work steadily, but will we see him return to the kinds of roles that helped him take home the gold? Let's take a look at this fine actor's career to figure out WTF Happened to Adrien Brody!

Adrian is like Keanu Reeves. He takes roles for the experience rather than just the money. I never knew he worked so hard and was in so many versatile movies. This is awesome!

I met Adrien when he was in Wellington, NZ to make Kong. He was walking along, minding his own business, perfectly anonymously. I recognised him, rushed out to say "hi" and we had a brief conversation. He came across with understated cool. Managed to not draw attention to himself, while still having a charisma about him.

He is not the ordinary actor. He is much greater than most. So many expressions, so much emotions, so deep into character. I feel it, I love it, I cry watching it, I love it. What ever it is --- those moments I focus on nothing else, just Brody, what ever man! Great job and thank you.

It's weird to me that people want actors to play roles that look like people they've never seen in these based on true story movies. It's acting. Give the job to the best actor. I don't care if a black man plays a white man or vice versa as long as it doesn't affect the story and plot.

Sounds like Adrian just loves to act and does it well. Imagine that.
In 1999, my father rented this movie called 'Oxygen' with a very young Adrien Brody playing a criminal that escaped police custody with a piece of wire from dental braces. I just loved Adrien Brody in “Love the Hard Way.” I have watched this movie many times over. His performance as a thug and hustler on the exterior while his true self is a deep thinker, journal-writer, sensitive, curious … makes me want to experience his performance over and over. His chemistry with a lovely (not very well known) actress Charlotte Ayanna, was perfection. I can’t imagine why this early 2000’s movie is so underrated. Adrien Brody is the most versatile actors ever. Some actors are the same no matter what role they are in...I could name names, but I won't...Brody can truly transform his looks, even though he is extremely unique-looking. I think he’s a painter and made enough movies ($) and decided to go back to painting. Good for him!
He achieved everything at an early age and went for the money later on, it’s ok, even Robert De Niro went for the money.

It is so sad when you see your favorite actors appearing in straight to or nearly straight to dvd films. Everyone needs to make money, but slow down and choose better.

@@wyntersteele1a Well there are only so many good scripts to go around. Paul Newman said, if you wait to work on something that you're REALLY interested in , you might work every five years.

Adrien Brody is such a gorgeous man 😍. Such a great actor.
The Jacket was very underrated.
He makes me believe in luck because I simply believe he's not very lucky, I'm a huge fan and watched many of his films and he always stood out on every performance. Sad, depressed, miserable characters suit him the most though.
Indeed, Adrien is fascinating as it gets!
Really great video. I deeply admire Adrian Brody - apart from being one of the very few male actors I find unbelievably attractive, there's something about him that is kind of enigmatic, inscrutable, so that he always seems mysterious, like a doorway on the other side of which are wonders... He brings those wonders into this world through his acting. I agree with "I Like Turtles" (and I actually do... like turtles) Quentin Tarantin, or the perhaps the Cohen Brothers, could bring more of those wonders through that doorway that is Adrian Brody than any other film makers.
He's a great actor and does what he is passionate about. He picks whatever roles he enjoys. I say let him do what he wants and I'll watch cause I'll always know he will be great in the role. Btw great content, I thought this video would be another cheap clickbaity content. But honestly very well written and engaging video. I'm subscribed now :)
I absolutely LOVE this video!!!
My god, the Jacket is such a great movie! And Adrien is soo great on it! Box Offices and money destroy excellent actor, movies and art in general. Adrien Brody is be much more fitted to "films d'auteurs", so stop saying that missing box office movies hurt him. It's exactly the opposite! The less of these he will do, the better he will be. Life is not only about the money, and maybe Adrien entourage didn't help him on this subject. He's a very good actor that chooses badly his movies, like you said. Like always, Thanks for your videos!
