Totaly can relate with no productivity and re sitting whole year. I am doing cardiac physiology and missed assignments, failed exams even though I spent hours studying and thinking something is wrong with me. Recently got diagnosed with ADHD and now finally feeling relieved. I can relate to this video so much!!!!

It’s actually the worst feeling to work super hard and not have the results to show for it, also the lack of productivity when everyone else around you is flying through work is honestly so horrible, it’s so sad that so many people can relate but thank you for finding this vid and commenting, does make me feel a lot less alone!

I'm 16 and I'm preparing to give the medical school entrance exam. I'm not diagnosed but I'm pretty extremely sure that I do have ADHD. I never had good grades or the ability to concentrate at the most important times and other stuff. I can't get diagnosed because people don't believe in mental health disorders here and it's not taken seriously. I'm scared if I go to medical school and get diagnosed they might think I'm not good enough or they will see me as weak. I can't do anything till I live by myself so I just deal with this crap by myself. It's very hard

Hey, this sounds like such a challenging situation to be in! I’m not sure what country you’re in but it’s such a shame that attitudes around ADHD are still like this (in my country too btw, definitely a global problem). To be honest the fact that you’re struggling with potentially undiagnosed ADHD with very little support and still trying your best to do the entrance exam proves just how strong you are, and how great a doctor you’re going to become. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help x

My daughter graduated from kings and at the age of 28 had a massive meltdown and was diagnosed with ADHD! She excelled in school but after years of masking it just came to a head then it became apparent that at the age of 46 I’ve now been diagnosed! We are both now medicated and it completely changed our lives 🙂

Ahh thank you so much for the feedback on the timestamps, I’m so glad someone finds them useful! I’m so happy as well that you’re getting a diagnosis, I know how much it helped me just being able to put a reason behind what was happening! Fingers crossed that you’ll smash your exams this time round and make sure you get the accommodations/support you’re entitled to ❤️

Same here, I am not diagnosed yet and I failed 2 exams which I'm taking again soon. I feel very overwhelmed by everything and I was starting to think that I'm just dumb and incapable of doing it I feel very hopeless not gonna lie, but I will do my best to go through it. It is nice though to some people going through the same and to know you are not alone in this.

@@aseeladel7096 hey! i got a diagnosis and was able to start meds to help focus and this was a game changer! listening to class and being able to take notes helped me learn much more! i am still struggling with organization and prioritizing but i'm learning it the hard way! i recommend flashcards like anki cuz it calculates for you when you should review them and it helps me feel less overwhelmed with the whole repetition organisation! and target your favorite way of learning! also i saw thia video (in french) explaining how to organize your study day if you want me to explain lmk!♥ good luck!!

@@yourlocalverrer6823 Part of me is scared if I don't have it then I might be doomed to failure, although I have all the symptoms, I feel very anxious in regards to all. I have tried anki but I wasn't capable of keeping doing it cos like I don't understand anything in lectures as my focus is very bad. I have to go home and teach myself everything and it takes up to 4 hours per lecture so it just feels so unrealistic for me to learn lectures, make notes, then make flash cards on anki. I'm way behind now and I'm so terrified. Yes please, I'd truly appreciate it if you could tell me about that video it might help in one way or another. Also, how did medications go for you? did it help with your focus? Do you feel like you can understand better? Thank you so much!

Hey! I've not met any other UK med students with ADHD, even on KZread they seem non existent - Well done for sharing this! I'm in UK too. It took resitting a year of sixth form and then two years of med school before I got diagnosed in fourth year. I'm finishing up fifth year now. Neurodiversity in medical career isn't talked about much, so it's important we support each other! Please let me know if you need help or advice with anything, especially with study support etc - not sure about your uni, but ADHD support at mine isn't great. Good luck! And great content btw, keep it up :)

I’m so sorry I took so long to reply to you!!! Its so sad that so many of us are getting diagnosed so late and struggling through academic life before finally getting help :/ Completely agree - idk if it’s stigma or whatever but no one seems to talk about these things in medicine! Definitely will bear that in mind, thanks so much for reaching out! Adhd support at mine is also pants ahaha I’d be grateful for any study tips!

Heyy thanks for putting this video up. I am a medical student myself and feel like I have adhd. I had been really struggling with productivity and stumbled upon these adhd videos on youtube. And I haven't related more to anything else ever. I had been doubting myself about the diagnosis because like you said that the problems hadn't been to this extent to start seeking help but then you try so hard still not get the result and see people around you just get through and you start feeling something is definitely not right. I had never struggled with things so much up until now, I am not lazy, not dumb then why aren't things happening despite the efforts. This gives an answer. Have you started treatment? And is it helping?

You can always change your doses or the medication, or even stop taking it, with your doctor's help of course. ADHD medication wears off quite quickly so it won't be a big problem.

I am a medical student in 2nd year and I really thing I am a high achiever with ADHD. I am not diagonised but the stress of med school made my hyerativity, inattentiveness, forgettfulness, disorganized nature more apparent. When I started searching for videos of how to become more organised, videos from people with ADHD connected to me the most. So it made me think, could I have ADHD? So I read a lot about how ADHD presents in women specifically and how it is usually diagnosis later in life for women. It could be that my self diagnosis is wrong but it makes the most sense. I am not an unmotivated person, I'm not stupid so I know something deeper must be going on.
