For ADHD I used the quiet technique. I didn’t talk for as long as I could and over Time my symptoms subsided. It was a kind of trickle down benefits over a few months. Many eastern philosophies use quite or non speaking as a primer to overall mental healing. Great channel, I watch all new ones. Good day. 👍

I am finding all the information you provide very helpful. I have not found it elsewhere. Thank you. I'll ask my question first and the backstory second. ? If biofeedback causes the PFC to focus more and better, does that use up a limited supply of dopamine? If so what happens then? As a 72 year old, self diagnosed ADHD (lots of emotions around that) I am determined to find a way to improve my brain function (focus, decision making, memory, others) and therefore outcomes in my life. This is a time of life where investments, home maintenence, downsizing and moving as well as thoughts about end of life planning are all present. They require focus, calm, memory, learning in multiple areas, and decision making. Some areas I've been skilled in in the past but things have changed or I've never been skilled in them. It's like being a newlywed again except my body is old!

Just found your channel, i love it! What's you opinion on so called "Mind Machines" that work with headphones and glasses such as the Kasina or Limina for external control of brainwaves? Especially if you compare them to the Neorythm?

Hello Bob! I have not tried a bunch of audio visual entrainment devices but have enjoyed BrainTap on occasion. I think it is a different pathway into altered states that can be educational for the mind.

hi I am loving your channel. I have my son just did his first neurofeedback session with a professional who is hopefully going to help balance his brain wave functioning in certain parts of the brain... which will help with his ADD and processing. It seems that everything in this space.. at home is mostly about about meditation ( Alpha).. but not about balancing the brain depending on what the individual brain is doing during different scenarios. Example one metric is his mind body connection is in (delta) and not one side is worse then the others... throughout his life we have had PT and OT ie walking on his toes, being hyper tonal and not being "grounded".. Is there research on information on how neurfeedback with brainwave mapping shows physical improvements... It would seem to me that PTs and OTs would want to incorporate this into their work with kids who have Cerebral palsy and physical issues.. let me know if you have come across any programs that work in that area thank you

Thanks for the comment! I am not aware of research on Cerebral palsy but I imagine some of the stimulation devices will head in that direction. Yes I think these neurofeedback software protocols will become more individual specific with time. I know Muse is working on a lot of Machine Learning/AI algorithms to help individualize treatment.

Hey Cody, Can you recommend which of the muse headbands best fit children, and approximately which head size it might work with? Also are there any non-cloud based game type applications that you can recommend for children to improve attention.

  • @piposanchez

I'd suggest you find one that DOESN'T force you to accept their terms and conditions where they collect sensitive data about you and your brain. ESPECIALLY if it's for your children, who don't have the knowledge/maturity to make an informed decision that might impact them for the rest of their lives.

@@LowdownRebel It also comes with an app (I know you know this, I'm just adding this for completeness sake in case someone else reads this). I like the Muse headband but I prefer the Myndlift app, even without the additional earclip. It offers more variety and I find the feedback to be more direct and more useful than that of the Muse app.

This is irresponsible. ADHD medications are some of the most effective drugs we have. Therapeutic approaches can help, but medications are frequently prescribed, effective for the majority of patients, and have minimal side effects at the doses in question. In addition, there are other medications - Guanfacine, for example - that do not act as stimulants. I'm sure that neurofeedback can be helpful, but you're talking about a tool that doesn't have anywhere near the longitudinal study support as medication. Starting your video with "get off the meds" is just deeply gross, and adds to the problem of undertreatment of ADHD, particularly in adults.

As SOON as I saw the app I thought "great, another way for corporations to gather sensitive data on how our brain works so they can use it against us in the future." Instantly closed the video and will continue my search for an EEG that DOESN'T do this shady ass shit.
