Adaptive Workout & Allyship

Today I had the opportunity to workout with my best friend Alex. He built a gym in his basement during the pandemic and he invited me over to destroy my body. I wanted to show you what an adaptive workout routine and allyship can you look like.

I am a manager in a gym and a personal trainer and I have many clients who have disabilities and those are my favourite clients to work with. Exercise is for everyone and it’s not always about losing weight or becoming stronger, for a lot of people it’s about improving their everyday life or as you quite rightly said just being part of it. I really enjoy watching your videos and I adore your sense of humour too.x

You've had me thinking about how I can be an ally and this actually came up the other day. My partner and I are planning a wedding, something that's going to be small and quite intimate. I have an old school friend that I would LOVE to be there; however she suffers quite a lot with autism as well as epilepsy and seizures can often come on very suddenly. Her younger sister is pretty much her entire support system. For that reason in my Guestlist I have specifically left a space for her for a plus one (I have not done this for anyone else). I imagine she will likely bring her sister, whom I have met a couple of times briefly but I by all means do not 'know' her sister. I feel as though this will put her much more at ease and I want her to enjoy the day as much as anyone else. She is such a beautiful soul and I adore having her in my life. I never really saw this as being an ally, but I suppose it is!

Spencer, I really enjoy your videos. I am a recent left below knee amputee. Its really scary for me since I am 59 years old. I dont even have Medicare yet. I really don't know how to exercise, but I really loved your workout. That's so inspiring. Thank you-now I know where to begin. Have a blessed day !!! I will continue to watch your videos .

I'm looking forward to more videos about how you play sports and various programs! Adapting sports for people with disabilities greatly helps people maintain not only their physical, but also their mental health. in any case, thank you very much! ❤

Be careful not to turn disabled folks into inspiration porn though, that can be frustrating. If you’re not sure what that is there’s plenty of stuff online about it ☺️

I wasn't sure where to post this but this video on allyship seems appropriate. I just saw (well, earlier, several hours ago) you and your wonderful little friend Quincy in a Crest(?) commercial? Was I dreaming? It was about your relationship with your best friends Alex and his partner and their beautiful little boy, support and raising the next generation of Allies. It was lovely. Now I want to see it often and during the middle of the day. I just wanted to congratulate you and wish you continued everything good in life. In the event that I was dreaming, perhaps my dream was a vision of the future? Or an idea that Crest and other companies should totally jump on.

Armwrestling! We have many disabled athletes that are strong as hell! Im in a aw team in Spain, our Sport is very easy to adapt for almost anyone and the beauty of It is that no Matter how good or strong you are or if you are disabled or not you can always train and compete with anybody.

I love your smile and great teeth. My only question to you is your type of meditation. After many years of study and meditation, you are the first I've heard of changing types of meditation. WOW. Does that really work for you? And how do you choose which one on Tuesday? Or Sunday? It truly perplexes me. But good luck to you.

Does he put something on the bottom of his shirt so that his gen.’s don’t show, or drag against things he stands on? Like is his friend getting a peak whenever his shirt goes up? e.o

He wears shorts, you just don't always see them because his shirts are long enough to cover them. And his hips are unusually narrow because of his disability. He has a couple videos where he talks about clothes shopping.
