Adam Savage's One Day Builds: No-Face Animatronic Mouth!

Ғылым және технология

One of Adam's favorite cosplay costumes gets revamped and upgraded with an awesome animatronic feature! No-Face transforms into a hungry beast with a massive mechanized mouth, a build which ends up being much more complicated that planned. Shop assistants Jen and Mel also take on the task of fabricating foam props for No-Face to eat. This cosplay build ended up being quite a journey!

Your first one was really good - mysterious and very artistical. The fabric was more flowing, more translucent and brought more volume. Also the cold black fited more to the greys of the mask and underlined the death theme. And of course your hands in the front played an importent role - they were your voice. Your 2.0 is too much muppet. Nice and very loud mouth, but no evolution. #MuppetKilledTheMagic

To make the springs of the mechanism quieter, you can use a kind of PVC or similar hose that is about a millimeter larger from the inside diameter than the spring itself, then take a square foam shred and pull it inside through the spring. This prevents the springs from rubbing against each other and takes out the vibration. if you then use PU or POM bushings on the mechanics, the whole mechanism will be 50 times quieter. best regards from a technician from Germany ;-)

However the parts that makes these videos interesting (problem solving, testing mechanics, the process etc.) are edited out for some reason. This is one of the best cosplay I've ever seen. More so with regards to the mechanisms and the inner workings. Kudos Adam!

I absolutely love seeing more of the crew and assistants. As fascinating as it is learning from Adam, It's also fascinating getting a glimpse into what it must've been like for him as he was getting started in this industry. You can also really tell how proud Adam is of Jen and Mel. I can't wait to see more work from all of you. It just goes to show, no matter how talented you are, you can always benefit from some teamwork. Also props to Norm, Gunther, and everyone else who works so hard to bring us these videos for free. It's always a good day when I see a new Tested video in my feed. Keep on being amazing, you lovely humans!

Dude!! I'd been thinking Sweetums the whole video after you got the mouth mechanism in place (particularly from his debut in The Frog Prince after you mentioned No Face eating the frog). So glad you made that connection :)

Well, contrary to some of the comments below, I enjoyed this build and thought it was a good balance between the assistants and Adam.
