Introducing the authentic ‘Doc Savage’ - none other than Adam Savage! In his self-made Fortress of Solitude, he’s not just playing superhero. With duct tape, a Swiss Army knife, and an endless well of curiosity, he’s crafting a world of discovery.

As one of the first-run supporters, I can say, without a doubt, that this is an Amazing build and I loved reading through the thread as the designs and manufacturing process were developed.

When they changed I (contractor) just started buying 2mm metal "lead" holders off of amazon. Ended up loving them, even a bit more than my old standby of the papermate. I was highly disappointed when I bought the first pack of the new style.

holy cow you made drilling the new hole in the dial complicated . . . . Even though I appreciated the thoroughness of the diagnosis you didn't need to do any of the calculations or measuring to drill the new hole in the dial. 1) put the dial on a short shaft (one that barely goes all the way thru) and clamp the shaft in the drill press. 2) line up the original hole with the drill bit so that it will slide straight thru. 3) rotate the dial 180 and drill new hole.

It’s heartbreaking when a perfect product gets changed. I felt this deeply! I’m the kind of person that when I find that perfect one, I’m done. Then they change it on me! This has happened with my favorite shoes and jeans, and handfuls of other products I’m sure I’m forgetting right now. Thank goodness they at least brought back Rainbow Chip Frosting.

The weathering is ok but i don't like the paint that much. Everything looks plastic.Even the old chrome parts have ZERO metal feel to them. I can't believe people spend a small fortune on these things and they're not even worth half the money asked for.

We hosted some exchange students from Japan a while back, and one of the things they gifted us when it was time to say goodbye was a small staple-less stapler... yes, that's right, no need to buy staples ever again! It simply punched a small hole in the pages, and then folded it back in such a way that created a secure bond between a few pages, without the need for a metallic staple. It was small enough, that it's not useful for much more than securing a few pages at a time, and certainly couldn't do booklets, but it's kinda rad that it doesn't require boxes and boxes of staples to service it... :D

I wonder if you modded it to have an extension maybe 6-8" past the end of the blade, with an attachment point. Where you could hook on some minor weights to help cut faster? Not a lot of weight, but maybe a few ounces? Or a few pounds, hell, idk, just spit balling here :)
