I would buy it but I can't give hasbro 400$ (500€) now, Right before Christmas. Christmas with kids are expensive…. Sorry Hasbro a stupid time for the crowdfunding. I hope the packs still comes to a shop after all

To be honest most ghostbuster fans would never expect to see something like this. Fact that it’s happening at all, is the achievement.

Not only that, but it's budget-friendly for any fan who don't have the tools nor the talent to make their own homemade proton packs. Plus, custom-made proton packs will set you back about $1,000 - $3,000.

@@SpaceWizardCosplay custom proton-pack is the way to go, if you have the money. For everyone else, this is the only screen accurate option. Making your own would be ideal. But to get it looking like one from the film, looks daunting. Great, if you got the DIY skills.

Adam, you are correct on the 'extra' switch. It was added originally in the wrong spot at the prop house. We corrected it in our shop on the show.

I have backed this project and after seeing your Vlog I got so so excited. Am 52 years old and it’s like an 15 again. I dragged my wife to the cinema on Thursday to watch the movie. My wife has just rolled her eyes after I watched this Vlog. Keep up the great work 👍👍👍👍

My only other proton pack is the original blue toy from the 80's so as you can imagine, this is a huge deal for me. Soooo so proud to be a backer of this. Truly spectacular work guys. You're very talented people.

I always hated how the toys were based on the cartoon tv show, not the movie itself. Even as a kid I never understood why the proton pack was blue.

I never thought I'd be able to have a legit looking proton pack because it would cost well over $2,000 to build a custom one. But $400 for this thing is a steal. So I threw down some of my stimulus money for it. Can't wait to get it!

@@RichardKutz, I'm trying to figure out if I want to do the same. I want it badly but at the same time I'm still building my Eaglemoss Ecto 1. But it comes back to this is a movie prop for $400 with lights and sounds.

I hope Hasbro knows this guy is a keeper, he's clearly a fan himself, and that is invaluable when creating products like this. Bravo guys, y'all knocked it out of the park with this pack. Egon would be proud 😉

Watching this again because I'm so excited after reading HasLabs email that they will be shipping out soon!

I love how these two start out fiddling with this thing while the part in question is presented to the camera, but as they geek out more and more suddenly they switch to just showing it to themselves 🤣 I hope we never grow old and always show this level of enthusiasm for silly stuff like these collectibles ❤️

Now they just need to add a small subwoofer inside the proton pack to give the sound effects some bass in the wand. When the proton pack and wand is turned on in the movies that deep bass resonates!

@@notbuster126 Production starts in December of this year. The "Spring 2023" date was announced b/c of potential / on-going shipping delays worldwide. I wouldn't be surprised if they start shipping out late next year around Dec. 2022.

For something from a toy company, this thing is amazing.

Adam is having a hard time trying to NOT hug John. I'm not gonna lie, it makes me happy seeing how excited Adam was getting with every feature.

This pack is a love letter to fans. Really looking forward to it!

@@b111372 I have and it is a thing of beauty, too. 🤤 I have a pack on my channel that doesn’t hold a flame to this but it’s still pretty rad.

SOOOOO glad we unlocked the connection hose attachment. The only thing I'm hoping is that the hose itself isn't super rigid, like with a lot of other build-it-yourself packs. The hose in those kits is just too stiff and tends to stick out every which way, defying gravity. I'm hoping this hose is, for lack of a better term, a lot more "floppy" and loose and not so stiff and rigid. Fingers crossed!

@@pigidly Plastic split loom tubing is very flexible. Some homemade pack builders place another hose inside to make it not so floppy. :D

Im not a ghostbuster fan in a cosplay context, just a fan from the 80s. But this pack makes my fingers itch. That is bloody great work!

"Doe" "Ray" "Egon!" Love that power up sequence from II.

In the year 2135, someone will show up on Antiques Roadshow with one of these that they found in their Great-Grandmother's attic. They won't know what it is, but they found out that it is NOT a part of the heating system. I am interested in finding out how the appraiser geeks out about it, and explaining it to contemporary audiences.

Things like this really show how much a fan Adam is. Watching him geek out about this was epic.

Always love it when Adam brings people he's excited to meet into the shop, it's always nice to see the mutual respect, awe and excitement of meeting each other :D so heart warming!

In their defense, the noise is coming from the neutrona wand. I don't think they put the sound effects in the pack itself yet.

@@oppenheimer11 L. There’s no sounds yet in this prototype. They pointed out in this video where the speaker and volume knob is on the pack 🤦🏽‍♂️

One other feature I would add to this is being able to swap out the grips of the wand to make it look like the original Ghostbusters if wanted. That would be a pretty easy feature to modify I would assume

I love Adams childlike excitement. I fondly remember my childhood version, including the pneumatic actuated trap, that's what made it so cool, that tiny bit of realism. My childhood brain would've exploded (much like Adams now) if I saw this new one back then. Great stuff.

Watching Adam check this thing out made me feel like a kid at Christmas! Nothing better than seeing pure love like this, no matter what it's for. Magnificent!!!

I absolutely LOVE watching Adam freak out over this and enjoying the hell out of it.

They should add a function that prevents the wand from turning off after a few seconds. The Proton pack is very nice!! Can't wait to hold this in my hand and play with!

The pack powering the wand will not shut off automatically, like the wand does on it's own. It will be able to idle, but it will overheat and shutdown if you fire it continuously.

This has me so excited. Backed this project and seeing this video has me so much more excited for it. Halloween and convention season 2023 is going to be amazing!

This is amazing. I know it's still a prototype but it still looks fantastic. Can't wait.

Awesome to hear that they're planning to make this pack customizable, hopefully as much as possible to easily change to GB and even GBII packs. The red cyclotron lights don't look screen accurate, so would be nice if they made those easily swappable. And please make an original film styled wand that is compatible with the hose connector! Should be easier for compatibility to make a new wand designed specifically for the pack.

I agree. I like the Spengler wand, it’s awesome and looks cool in the movie. But as an old school Ghostbusters fan, I wanted a wand that looks and functions like the originals. I tried my hand at modifying my wand, and although I nailed most of it, it doesn’t look ‘quite’ right. If they made one with OG hand grips and the original light bar, it’s buy as many as my bank account and budget could handle lol

I didn't know this but it looks like they made the original wand a few years back. I tried finding one but people are asking way to much for it. That wands asking price is higher than this pack coming out

@@chrisminton516 yeah, Mattel did the “neutrino” wand (the Spengler wand is called the “neutrona” wand, but same thing). The Mattel wand was less durable, and all plastic, but had better features like a crossing the streams mode and the bar graph was more movie accurate. Also, it had the original grips. The Spengler wand is a better product, but I wish they made one with the same quality that looked like the original (and also doesn’t cost $700 or more)

@Johnny 5 Stacks the prices can be just ridiculous on this stuff. That's why the only pack I currently have is the Spirit halloween pack and I just got it this year along with the walkie, goggles, pke and trap. I have no idea how to rewire things and no idea how to paint or mod in anyway. That is why I am so pumped that this is actually being made. I never thought I would have one so I don't mind waiting until Spring 2023. I already have the wand coming and I am glad that the goal for the hose was reached. I would love that last goal as well. That stand looks awesome.

I backed this as soon as I saw it, a couple weeks before this video premiered. Getting this kind of look at the prototype has made me even more excited for it!!!

This really is incredible. Glad I backed it and so glad it’s funded. What an amazing commitment by the Hasbro team to make something we would all love and treasure.

This is great! I've been a fan since the first Ghostbusters movie! I remember as a kid laying in bed not able to sleep watching the closet for ghosts. Seeing Adam's excitement and being like one of us is awesome!

Until my pack shows up I will probably watch this video 1k times before my package is dropped on my door step.

I hope that Hasbro can do one last Kenner re-release. The firehouse.

It is always fun and educational when Adam goes "Rain Man" about something.

Not really. You can get proton pack kits with the wand online for a little more than this. Sure you got to put it together and paint it but they better quality, more screen accurate and the paint job is a breeze.

@@standepain Proton pack kits with a fiberglass shell including the wand kit, lights, and sound board can start around $800 or more. This is the best value any Ghostbusters fan could ask for. My homemade pack cost nearly $400 and was made from recycled stuff from around the house. I did add the Hasbro Spengler's Neutrona wand last year, of course which added another $100 to my overall cost.

I love that everybody who visits is trying to avoid freaking out to be in the presence of Adam, and he's always freaking out about being in the same room as the guest!

Very intrigued by this but concerned that the pack itself doesn't seem to have that overwhelming THRUM when it gets switched on. For me, when a proton pack gets powered on it takes over the scene and definitely the few times I've been around an amazing replica pack in person. All I hear here is a whirring/clacking. I hope they can tweak the sound settings to replicate what's heard in the films

It's there at 19:35, but it doesn't have the required bass response to bring it out properly. Also 28:22 - it's very muted compared with the other sounds.

It's Definitely All About That Startup Sound, It's Just As Clear In My Memory as When I Seen it On Opening Night in 1984. and Every Time I Watch It, I Look Forward to That Sean in The Elevator !!!

Haven't quite finished the video yet, but when Adam turned it on, it occurred to me that a Bluetooth connectivity option would be awesome. To power it on and feel the room surge with power would be fun af.

I totally guessed the exact purpose of those internal switches. This thing far exceeds expectations. It was a joy to see Adam geek out!

Adam, you had me when you referred a designed open SWITCH as a "HUG." As an electrical engineer, I've never heard a switch being referred to as a hug. EPIC!!!

That compartment could be used for something like a mini smoke machine so you could simulate coolant release.

28:15 Wow, Adam's "that's great!" sounds just like Ray did in the first Ghostbusters when Venkman got slimed by Slimer! Which ironically was their first test of the proton packs as well.

I’m soo happy a new good ghostbusters movies came out so others can be fans of ghostbusters as well, I’ve loved this for years ever since I saw that first movie as a kid it’s stuck in my head, none of my friends fans and it sucks I can’t talk to them

I absolutely love it and this video - thank you. I backed the pack and I’m glad it’s getting a release. Finally a 1:1 scale replica for a reasonable price.

Thank you for showing this beautiful piece in detail, I'm glad that backed the project. Only with the light sequence I hope that it will be revised because in Afterlife it is really a continuous running light rotating through the red windows, as you showed in the video "Adam Savage Inspects Ghostbusters: Afterlife's Hero Props!" and they should actually be able to do that with the LED fields. And in 1984 Mode, they should only flare up one at a time. But if every LED field has a light rotating one after the other, it doesn't look right. I also hope that they implement different speeds here, like in the 1984 film. But overall it is a really impressive prototype.

This is amazing! So happy we decided to back this. It can’t come soon enough! Just add a feature that stops the wand powering down please! It powers down much too quickly on standby.

So, so glad I backed this project. It looks amazing!

If I was on the fence about this in even the slightest bit before, this video put me over the edge. 100% worth the backing!

I ALMOST missed out, I procrastinated until there was only 1 hour left before I pulled the trigger

20:46 It's a rare occasion to see Adam at a complete loss for words, but we all know that when that does happen, it means something very, very special and amazing has happened. Seeing Adam like this has put the biggest, goofiest grin on my face because he is all of us Ghostheads right now.

Its so sweet seeing adam geek out like this! I soooooooo want ine of these and the wand but i just would give it the attention and love like real ghostbusters fans would.

Admittedly, I've never even seen Ghostbusters, but I'm incredibly impressed with this! The realism and attention to detail are things I always dreamed of toys having as a kid.

I'm so glad you guys made this video.. I wasn't sold on buying this pack when it was announced with the stock photos, but this video has changed my mind.. Hopefully u guys change your mind and and the Alice frame to it.. either way, I'm getting it.. awesome jib.. I'm sold now!!

Yeah, without the ALICE frame it just doesn’t quite sit right. It’s sitting a little too low. My custom pack that I built was built to the original pack’s specs, and I can lean my head back and just graze the top of the crank generator box (the one with the turn knob top off center) with the back of my head. But it still looks fantastic. Switch out the straps and add an ALICE frame, and maybe upgrade the amplifier and speaker, and it’s perfect. Oh, and they need to change the rectangular rods to the hexagonal “pencil” shape rods as well. That would annoy me to no end lol

@@davidjames1389 there's a lot of reasons why they can't, licensing, manufacturing, and the fact that the size of it will significantly add to shipping cost

I like the little features to where we could add anything to the pack. Part of me is wishing for them to also add the attachments for the shock blast, ooze blaster and collider from the video game. They already did the options on the wand. Go all the way. TAKE MY MONEY!!

Wish they would've made features like that as the unlockable tiers.

The extreme ghostbusters proton pack had a small storage compartment. It was probably it's best feature.

The joy in Adam's face is priceless!

Watching Adam gush at this just pushed me to backed this project, it just means that the GB hasbro team did a lot of correct things for the fans. Ty

This Hasbro set looks friggen phenomenal. And after seeing Afterlife, I'm more stoked to finish my Egon cosplay

They really need to start showing off how this pack could be easily converted to an 84' version. All they have so far are the 84' clean decals - but what is the point of those if you can't make the pack look like it did before Egon's mods? I know a designer from Hasbro on a forum said those hideous copper wire parts are designed to come off, but how about showing that in action? Is it as easy as pulling them off, or is it more involved? This pack also just demands a real 84' wand that sends the sounds to the pack. Now that the hose is backed, they need use forward thinking and engineer it to have this feature in a compatible wand. I honestly think it was a dumb idea to make this one specific pack in the first place. The "Classic Bundle" should feature a brand new white ribbon cable that you can replace the browned dusty one. It should have simply been a Proton Pack with all kinds of little parts that you can put on it to make it whatever era pack you wanted. They seem dead set on it being an Afterlife pack, yet why do the decals and have 84' pack sounds and lights?

Looks like copper wiring around the Clipper valve is easily removable on the video (they seem to be rubbery and held in by pegs). Seeing how the wires easily come off makes it seem the conversion would be straight forward. The screws inside the cyclotron to the red lenses is another easy access, and probably just a matter of swapping out the lens/LEDs.

I cant believe i missed this when it was backable.....i hope i can still get one someday. Absolutely a dream for a kid from a generation before such amazing reproductions....my proton pack was cardboard because they didnt even sell one when i was growing up.....i mean other than the little childs toy that was not a serious replica. Its so nice to see Hasbro letting its engineers do passion projects like this...

I am so pumped about this but please use the extra pack space to beef up the sound, that is crucial! Even if you charge a bit more please make it loud, or at least an easy upgrade to make it loud

I really hope they nail it on the packaging. Artwork should be awesome.

19:29 I really hope the find a more quite powering device for the proton pack cause that constant sound would just kill the vibe everytime you tried to show it off, but despite that it's an awesome build

As far as I know this one didn’t have sound at all at the time of filming. The sound you hear is the “rumble” motor in the pack.

I'm a bit worried about the speaker not being loud enough. It definetely isn't a loud speaker in the wand. I also hope it can play the ghostbusters tune too.

It would be awesome if they make the stand so it can be a wall-mountable bracket, not just a free-standing piece.

You have a hand drill and some brackets? Bam wall mount. Seriously though it would be nice to have that built in to the stand.

This is a freaking amazing piece of work. I wasn't really a fan of Afterlife as I feel like it felt a bit flat, but WOW. I wouldn't do anything with this as I don't cosplay or celebrate Halloween but you can see how much love and work has gone into this and I already think owning one would be pretty cool. What an amazing piece it's like a collector's item!

I agree, leds are handy but incandescent lamps have a more vintage warmer analogue glow.
