In the Summer of '92 I was walking down the street in Cologne Germany with some classmates, and we saw Lloyd Bridges. We walked up to him to say hello and to thank him for all of the entertainment he had provided us over the years. We were able to get our picture taken with him. He asked me what my favorite movie of his was, and I said "Airplane" He commented that "everybody says that. I've made so many great movies and that's the one everybody loves." I told him that for people my age, it would be their favorite. He was so nice to us, he was a great man. It was also funny that all of the Germans were looking at him wondering who he was...

But then knowing the pleasure of having his dad "knock it out of the park" as he said, in the audition. The one thing hollywood did was creating typecasting, because it´s not the actor, it never was. Course I still like The Addams family and shows like that from that era.

Awesome acting family Bridges. So " normal" & approachable, happy to chat. No Hollywood elitist attitude. That's the secret right there Their ability to be humble and relate to ppl in general. This is their research and craft in characters.
For me seeing Lloyd Bridges in Airplane was more "wow, that's the guy from the Longest Day!!" He was so funny, and yet so serious and dramatic in the war film. Brilliant actor.

One of my favourite t-shirts has that exact pic of Lloyd Bridges, from ‘Airplane!’, with “I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue” printed underneath. It never fails to get comments, whenever I wear it. In the same way Jeff will be remembered as ‘The Dude’, Lloyd will remembered for his performance in ‘Airplane!’. And that’s not a bad thing in either instance.

I ran into Lloyd Bridges once. It was April 29, 1992. I was going into the Laemmle Royal Theater in West LA to see Howard's End. Lloyd and his wife (I assume) was coming out from the previous show. It was quite a thrill (love Airplane and Sea Hunt). What made it even more memorable was coming out of the movie at 8/9 pm to find that LA was under siege. The Rodney King verdict was announced that day. The next few days were also memorable.
Man, I had no idea they were related. Just adds an awesome flavor to these guys as actors.
Love Lloyd, Jeff, the whole Bridges family was Hollywood royalty.
Part of the underlying humor of the Airplane movies was the casting of well known SERIOUS actors such as Lloyd, Peter Graves, Leslie Nielson, Robert Stack, etc. in comedic roles.
It’s impossible not to like this guy …he’s so instantaneously likable 😍😍
Being in "High Noon" is a form of immortality.
Lloyd in Hot Shots! is the greatest thing ever.
Lloyd was a funny guy & great actor. He also was in a couple of Jeff’s films. He played Jeff’s Irish uncle in 1993’s action/thriller “Blown Away” & a corrupt Michigan senator who conspired with the Big 3 auto makers to frame a new car inventor in 1988’s “Tucker - the Man and his Dream”. I highly recommend both of them.
Jeff Bridges is one of my favorites. If you never watched Wild Bill go watch it.
Only The Dude could turn up to an interview in slippers .
I grew up watching Seahunt, takes me back!
Lloyd Bridges, what a brilliant actor. I mostly know him from his comedy roles, but man, these were memorable like nothing else! What a legend!!
Just a great person. I enjoyed watching him so much.
Jeff is my favourite actor. Love this guy.
sea hunt is the show that lead me to become a navy diver, thanks lloyd
Blown away is one of the best Jeff bridges movies I’ve seen along with Tron 1 and 2, the muse, simpatico, fabulous baker boys, 8 million ways to die, star man and the big Lebowski. And it’s one of the best because of seeing Jeff bridges and Tommy Lee Jones together in an action movie. And it came out the same year as speed and true lies which also dealt with terrorism and bombs and explosions. It still is a classic to me and better than Arlington road 5 years later.
Didn't want to develop a very strong persona. "The Dude".
Love them all great family and how they love eachother 💪😜 Take that to the BRIDGE YEAH 💯❤️🇬🇧

Lloyd Bridges had an amazing personal influence. He endorsed Sun pool products among his many roles. So when a family friend was building a pool and looking for cleaning products, I immediately suggested Sun. The hot shot movies wouldn’t have been as good as they were without Lloyd. He was hilarious
I imagine Jeff getting close to throwing the movie when the producer asked him to have Lloyd read for a part. But then knowing the pleasure of having his dad "knock it out of the park" as he said, in the audition. The one thing hollywood did was creating typecasting, because it´s not the actor, it never was. As many comedians have shown many many times, is that they make the best drama performances(but almost no drama actor can be funny).

Lloyd Bridges, like his contemporaries Robert Mitchum, Sterling Hayden and others initially made their mark in Hollywood doing film noir, one of the best genres. I'm surprised it wasn't until Sea Hunt that he started making good coin. That was fairly well into his career.
