Park Hyo Shin is a treasure. I want his talents to be heard, recognized and appreciated throughout the world. I hope he masters English well enough to be able to perform on Broadway and to record songs in English so that the rest of the world can fully love and appreciate him. This is BTS Jin's favourite karaoke song. The personal story behind this song is very sad. Hyoshin was treated very badly by his previous company. He lost control of his vocal cords due to exhaustion, had to sell his house because he could no longer perform, when in the army he lost his best friend to suicide.. 5 years later he regained new confidence under a new company, changed his way of singing and is now an accomplished singer and musical star. There is also a live performance in a studio show where he is so emotional in the end. It is the version where he has white hair and a black and white suit. That one is my favourite, because it shows how hard it is for him to sing this song, that was s mega hit in South Korea when it was released.

not only treated badly, he develops an illness due to his previous company forced him to sing in a particular way(watch his older songs for reference), and that made him almost lost his voice(and passing out often due to overwork while in his concerts). he also had to do concerts himself, because the company scammed him by embezelling the money from the fans and audiences, causes the venue to almost cancel his concert , and had to pay for all of that from his own pocket(which he almost had none due to the company unfair and ridiculous pay) that led to further depression, and when he sued his company, he lost his cause and the company sued him back,causing him to fill for bankcruptcy back then, because of the huge money the company sued him for. after that, he left for the army, that is when he met the pianist(and became best friends). he actually did not want to produce this song because this was supposed to be his some kind of poem or note of some sort for himself about his hardships, but the pianist helped him through and encouraging him to create a song based on that. and about why he is so sad while performing this song is, because the song is about all his suffering through his life,from being totally used, and overcoming it. from that, he then develops fear of camera(idk if he had overcome it or not,until now). and that is why he nearly did not appear in any of tv shows.

I was so surprised to see this notification but, now that I think about it, I realize that it was just a matter of time! This is just a beautiful song of strength and resilience (I had the last line, "When spring comes, I will bloom", tattooed a few years ago), he often cries when he sings it live. This was a pleasure to watch and I hope one day to see your reaction to his live version of Gift.:-) Oh, this can't go unmentioned: the pianist in the video is Jung Jae Il. He's known in Korea as a musical genius; they've been collaborating ever since they did they military service together and in recent years JJI always plays half the instruments at PHS's concerts!

Hi Cedric, I am SO HAPPY you took my suggestion and checked PHS out! I first hear of him in 2014, when I arrived to live in South Korea. He was the first singer I got to appreciate there, and this, the first song. I remember watching this video for the first time, mesmerized by his voice and the storytelling behind, back then I could not speak Korean yet, but somehow I was able to feel his story in my heart. I grew to love each one of this songs, and then went to his 2019 concerts 2 times in Seoul, and to see him in the musical The Man who Laughs, I´m sure you would love that. You made my day ! This is the best reaction I have seen for the most beautiful voice in the world today.. PHS, also a most humble and beautiful person. When I watch him sing I am totally in another world, oblivious to anything around me.. his voice is utterly captivating, spellbinding.. what an incredible talent. Thank you for your reaction.. He is a great singer and also a great performer. His vocal skills are impressive and I must say rare. For him to reach that kind of level I´m sure is a mix of talent and lots of training. Yes, this is a true live audio one-take on-scene recording/filming (different from his studio album recording).

❤ One of my favorite songs of all time. I was listening to this and the next song was SOS by Dimash. This song, by Park Hyoshin is the only thing that would help me get to sleep for 6 months. Is is so beautiful and absorbed all of my attention. ❤❤❤❤❤

There is a 2019 version not in front of a live audience under the channel JTBC? Best I could gather from comments is that he wanted to sing with just the pianist only. He had said it was hard not to get emotional when there was a crowd. Whether that is true or not, it is just beautiful.

I have to admit my excitement when I saw the notification for this reaction pop up as “upcoming” last night. I just found you fairly recently and watched and absolutely loved all of your BTS reactions, especially the BU reactions! A Korean friend introduced me to Park Hyo Shin a while back and this is the first song he introduced me to. I absolutely fell in love with his vocals from the moment I heard him, and am so glad to see you being introduced to such an amazing ballad singer. Thank you to to person who requested this! Thank you for the reaction. Park Hyo-shin's "Wildflower" is a masterpiece. And he is a famous singer in Korea. In Korea, there are vocal singers with great skills such as So hyang and Park Hyo-shin. I recommend the Korean crossover male quartet vocal group . They are known more for their cover songs than their original songs, so I'm very sad. If you get a chance, please react to their cover songs, "Bad Romance", "Bohemian Rhapsody", and "Shape of You". I also recommend their original songs, "FOR LIFE", "SAVE OUR LIVES". And they are planning a tour of North America next January. I sincerely hope that their music will be well known abroad

You would think he was 25, but he's 41 now... Still looks 25. He was huge way before KPop started.

Fun fact: Park Hyo shin and Kim Taehyung of BTS are good friends. They did a late night radio show together recently. It's soothing.

Search KZread for videos of him in concert (he can sing every style with perfection), in musicals, in his music videos (you will appreciate the visual techniques), and on You Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook (For an amazing performance of this song). And yes, he is in his forties and looks like a kpop idol. If you look at and listened to his music from 20 years ago, you will hear how much he has changed how he sings. The mechanics and the tone. The reason he closes his eyes when he sings this is, he said if he sees the faces of his audience he won't be able to make it thru the song cause the feelings are too much. One thing to watch is the total silence of the audience as they are so engrossed in the performance. And respect for him and this song. He hadn't done a TV Show in many many years when he appeared on this show. They gave him the full hour and half or so, when usually there are several artists each show.

I think it was mentioned before that they used a drone to film this. Probably one that could accommodate a gimble. If you go back to the beginning you'd see they had a drone filming with them. As for his vocal background he's one of the OG modern balladist that many Kpop artist these days took inspiration from.. You'll be surprised to find what he use to sound like and his journey to his current voice. He was also in theater so its not suprising that you cought a glimpse of that in his tone and the way he carried the song

As amazing as his voice is now and his 2019 Lovers concert where he really does extended versions with a very big audience, he suffers from a neurologic disorder affecting his voice that was developed during excessive stress in rehearsing nonstop with his former managing company. He is in a music theater production in Korea currently.

I love this song, he has a great voice, but I prefer the performance video he does with a small audience, it's so emotional. I think Park Hyo-Shin does do musical theatre as well as pop/ballads, he's a great all rounder in my opinion.
