Caren Goodrich s
Lovely impressionist work. It really feels like looking out at the ocean and breathing in the smells of the seaside.
This is one of my favorites thus far.
Woo hoo I'd like to surf those waves !!! Love and hugs to you both Caren & Clint
Love it! Especially like that touch of red-orange in the sandy area. It sets the whole paintng off! -

thank you, Josie! Give it a try!
Caren, I do something similar to make seascapes. I have been making seascapes since I started painting pours, about 8 months now. I was very glad to see you use this technique since it does produce some great results. Plus the cells in each picture are always a surprise. I do love how your seascape turned out.
Enjoyed it very much.
This is just stunning. I am a fan. Liked and subbed :)
Wow! I love how you used the swipe over the entire painting and had different sections beach and water. This I will have to try. I have been an artist my entire life drawing is my passion. I started watching your videos and its open up a part of me I didn't know was there! You have definitely created a (PAINTING MONSTER) !!!

Barbie Boop thank you Barbie, if you haven’t poured before, start out simple to get a feel for it!
I was surprised at how much beach actually showed up again after swiping across it with the blue. Very effective.

Melody Schleicher thanks, Melody! I’ve done this before, I have several landscape videos called “Double Swipe” where I do this. It’s fun and always surprising.
What is the paint pouring ingredients, ratios? Do you include liquid silicone in this paint pour?
My question 11 months ago was how do you mix your paints? Would really like to know. Thank you
It looks fantastic Carin. Great video. Can you try a jelly fish? Would love to see if it can be done.

Linda S Coleman interesting...I’ll have to think about that one!
Beautiful , love it. How do you mix your paints?
I continue to love your works. I have decided to purchase silicone, hoping for better results. I believe I am mixing to the correct consistency, but maybe the thickness of paint left on the canvas is too much depth on top of the canvas. I am using some primary elements paint, so maybe that is just to many variables to play with right now. I am getting frustrated with my lack of progress/success. I did just finished a series focusing on

I did just finish a series of three canvases focusing on color placement, with semi success. I would like to feel better about not achieving some cells or effects. Oh well, I think I will take a break from this because I am not enjoying the process right now. In the meantime I will enjoy watching you, and viewing your gorgeous results.

Silicone does the trick for me! Why not use it?

Caren Goodrich I have a silicone spray, but it is not helping. I have the drops now, still no success. Just need to try something different.

Monica Eggleton maybe thin your paint mixture with a few drops of water so the silicone can escape.
absolutely sensational. it turned out breathtaking and i really enjoy your videos Caren, you given enough instruction but don't get off topic or speak too much, they're wonderful to learn from, thank you xx Also, how much silicone do you had to each cup of colour? is it just a few drops?

Linley Sparke thank you Linley!! Yes just a few drops. More is not better.
Hi Caren! I am brand new to painting (never painted anything) I'm about to make an investment into supplies.. Hobby Lobby has "heavy body or heavy acrylic paint" on clearance. Will this paint work for dirty pour/swipe style?

Tim G hi Tim, I hope you’ll check out my supply list on amazon. Http://www.amazon.com/shop/carengoodrich Some heavy body paint works, some doesn’t. If you are just starting out, try craft paint like Americana. It’s liquid and works well with pouring medium.
Do you have to gesso the canvas? Beautiful painting!

Chelle 7 Yes, in the beginning of the video she explains she always likes to gesso the canvas... several layers, in fact, although no need to sand because she likes the texture.

Yes, I heard that but I was asking if it had to be done.

I’m brand new to this, so please don’t go by what I say, but I’ve done pours with and without Gesso, and the gessoed ones seem to have more “body”, although I hate to wait until each gesso layer dries so I can pour. Of course, the smart thing is to gesso a bunch of canvases to have them ready for when the pouring muse strikes! 😄

Got it! Thank you! BTW, I saw a guy using a hair dryer to dry it while he mixes his colors. :D

Generally I would say yes. If you’re buying canvases that are pre-gessoed it can be hard to know the quality. Gesso is relatively cheap. The stuff I buy is from golden, but it can be diluted with water which I do. I usually do two thin coats and sand afterwards if I desire. To be specific, if I buy a bunch of stretched canvas I gesso all of them at once. If I want to sand, I decide when I’m getting ready to pour and only sand a canvas when I’m sure that’s what I want to do. The bottom line though is to do what works for you. I’ve never really tried skipping the gesso step often enough to know how it turns out in general. For a few test pours I’ve done it and been ok with the outcome. Other times, not so much, but I was experimenting with a number of things so the lack of gesso may not have affected anything. If you experiment and you like the results, keep doing it.
I wish you would tell us the colors you are using.
Caren, Your work is lovely. You use to tell us the colors used in each painting. Please do again.

Barbara Bishop I will be releasing more info on the paint colors soon!
Caren, Your videos mesmerize me!!! So relaxing to watch you work your magic! I was wondering do you Gesso all your canvases even if they are pre gessoed? Also have you ever used flat sheets of leafing as part of your work. If so do you lay out your leafing first and then pour and swipe where you want your colors? Thank you. Maggie

using gold, silver, cooper ect. sheets, also comes in broken pieces or flecks, but I what a smooth look with using cooper sheets. Doing a sunset sky, with a cooper sun (leafing/gilded), the ocean, and then the sand with cooper leafing also...I love using different art mediums on my work...such as rice paper and acrylics....fabrics and acrylics, leafing and acrylic and so on...I have never done swiping, dirty pours or flipping with torch to create cells...love the look. Again Thank you Caren
