I enjoyed the whole process fro the base of the painting until the end of the purple mountains. The decision at the end to swipe the blue on a diagonal blue sky was one crucial decision in pulling the whole painting together for a WOW experience ! But keep on WITH THESE WONDERFUL VIDEOS, BECAUSE WE ALL LEARN SO MUCH FROM YOU! THANKS!

I live in Las Vegas for the past 30 years. I have created a lot of good stuff here and a lot of good music along the way but I feel this next year is going to be amazing ...my creativity is going to explode from this medium and your examples and inspiration.

that is absolutely beautiful. Been watching you and others on KZread for the past few weeks learning about pouring. I've been airbrushing and other forms of art but never came across this until recently and I'm so overwhelmed with joy and inspiration from your work. The free flow and spontaneity of this medium is so inviting and exciting to me.

I like how the bit of pink and the gold became flowers in a meadow. This is the “meat” of doing a poured painting, as far as I am concerned. It is not a formula or recipe;but it is a composition that incorporates placement of color, attention to hues and placement to create a piece of art. I value, enjoy, and appreciate this form of artwork that utilizes the artistic eye and artist skills to create a unique piece of art. I DO love the “simple” dirty pour or puddle pour, which result in some wonderful pieces...and with good manipulation it can be a true piece of art. Constructed abstract art can be so much more dramatic and has a personal connection between Artist and Observer. I do hope I have expressed this clearly. This technique, of multiple swipes with intention and purpose, is inspiring and gets my brain cells spinning with opportunities to express life experiences through the perspective of my mind’s eye.

Monica, yes you expressed it clearly! I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. It's such a fascinating way to paint, having an idea and expected outcome, but rolling with the punches and working with what actually happens.

I loved this technique... thank you... and I liked that you un-burried the sky at the end... I wish the red hadn't mingled in with it... I might have given it one more Horizontal swipe to try and manipulate it back down to the other mountain area but overall it's a great result.

  • @carengoodrich

Ruth, I didn't want to do one more horizontal swipe because I wanted to maintain the diagonal direction of my sky swipes. Changing the direction of the sky was a more important lesson than to try to tidy it up.

I didn't mind the sky part before the swiping was done to spread the blue. I thought the cells in the white and blue gave it a lot of character. :)

After watching this video at least 20 times, I gave it a try...not as easy as you make it look! I played in the paint a little too much; never got the mountain range right and gave up ; and somehow haha lost a good deal of my cells..all that said, I like it anyway. Oh and forget the trees...I'm thinking maybe I didn't have enough paint to play in or I just have too heavy of a hand trying to draw with a cake spatula! :) Will keep trying.
