In truth, it's even deeper than this - the Greeks actually lifted the bulk of their mythology from Egyptian/Ethiopian pantheons. When one digs back as far as history currently allows, the forbears of the Greeks only had two deities that survive to the present day: Qos and an unnamed fish-goddess. The Greeks stole Zeus from Ammun-Ra, the primary deity of pre-Ptolemaic Egypt

Ancient Greeks had different ideas to where Aethiopia was located: at the western and eastern parts of the world (Homer),somewhere in Africa (Hellenistic writers) or even Persia (Herodotus). In a way it was like mesopotamian idea of Dilmun,Magan and Meluha. They forgot where they originally were but the name continued to be used to other peoples and civilizations. A curious tale about Memnon is from Ctesias. He wrote that that Memnon was a vassal of the Assyrian empire and was sent to help Priam. Funny if you switch Assyrians with Hittites (who different from Assyria indead ruled all anatolia) it would fit perfectly. It was not the only occasion where greek writers confused civilizations :look at the story about Ninus of Assyria the "first world emperor" before the rise of Babylonia (who was Sargon of Akkad all but in name).

As may not have known, the Persians are descended from An Ethiopian woman Andromeda and the Egyptian Perseus. (from the clash of the Titans movies). So thats why they thought Ethiopia was in Persia. Also Ctesias was wrong. Memnon was never a Vassal of Assyrians as they did not exist then. Memnon was a nephew of Priam and first cousins of Hector and Paris. Thats why Memnon went to help the Trojans. Helen of Troy, was also a descendant of Andromeda and so was Hercules.

But I do know even Zeus is an African God, massively changed over by the Greeks. The early Greeks went to Egypt to learn from the Ethiopians that were there at the time, before being decimated By the Egypt that most people know today. Ethiopians where forced to move back further down to their other kingdoms. But all in all, this was a cool story, great animation. 👍🏿

Priam biggest mistake in this war is 1 Too rely on Hector 2. Not ask Penthesilae and Memnon to come at the same time. Had both of them came and Hector were still alive, Troy would be victorious. 3. The biggest woe of all is he was not return Helen back to Acheans long before the war ever started. Like Hector suggested him to do. Should Astyanax grrew to adulthood he shall surpassed Hector in both personal combats and art of war.

Memnon wasn't immortal and Achilles didn't strangle Memnon he got him through the heart. They were both equal in skill and equipment but Achilles' dip in the Styx gave him the edge.

Judging by the fact that Memnon faced Achilles head on while Hector initially tried to run and the Ethiopian actually was able to wound Achilles i say Memnon is better.

Everyone who heard of tht coming clash between demigods assumed Achilles would end the fight early because of his famed fighting prowess . However Zeus favored both Memnon and Achilles so he decided to take away their godly abilities and make them to mortals fighting . Achillies got the best of memnon and Zeus mourned his death . Look that up

I think Memnon’s mom is the reason he lost the fight. You’re going to be more protective of a weakness and therefore you have counters in place for that weakness and in a way expect it. Its almost like bait in a way. If he went for a wound anywhere else I think he would’ve won.

I saw that abomination of a Netflix show, and despite all half the characters being black, they literally didn’t even have that one character. I’m not joking. They have Amazon women, but they never had that other character. Memnon should’ve been in there. They just literally didn’t add him. since they were all about diversity equality and stuff they could’ve just added him in there. But no, they didn’t. I found that absolutely disgusting. That character deserved better he fought for the Trojans. He was there reinforcement along with the rest of his army from Ethiopia. Interestingly enough character was actually like Achilles equally matched not to mention they both had mothers that were both goddesses. Their fathers were mortal.

Well the thing is that neither Memnon is described believed or depicted as a black Nubian African character in Hellenic mythology. IN the original Hellenic source Memnon and the Mythical Kingdom of Aethiopia in Hellenic mythology have nothing to do with Africa. The idea of him being African comes from the Romans that believed he hailed from Africa.

Yes King of the Aethiopis people. But also a Prince of Troy. One thing is for sure. Memnon is NOT described or depicted being a Nubian Sub Saharan African character in Hellenic mythology. Plus the Mythical Kingdom of Aethiopia from Hellenic Mythology has nothing to do with Africa.
