CC really does respect the other players- and it’s the players buying into the media madness that has prevented the vets from getting on board up to this point. And that’s not CC’s fault. But Its bothered & shocked me, how some in the media have accused her of 'playing the victim' in that moment. 1st of all, they directly asked her the spec question about vets & advice she received!!! CC has ever ONLY answered their questions & hasn't said anything really. She's taken everything on the chin. She has downplayed any foul done her making it better than what it is. And even when asked this question, she still answered it briefly. I definitely hope u're right!!! I do believe that the majority of fans genuinely want 2 root for the whole WNBA!!! You should watch the full clip of DT's preseason remarks. It was about the transition from NCAAW to WNBA. That it's a bigger leap in talent than folks expect. And she mentioned that all the greats have challenges adjusting. And it was a call for patience more than anything else. The only thing vaguely personal is that some folks' game translates better than others. And most importantly, she was correct on all fronts. She is not nearly as dominant as she was in the NCAAW, and her skills were harder to translate, due to lack of quickness. What Caitlin has accomplished is admirable, no question, and it's clear she'll continue to improve, but it's hardly what her stans expected going in.

Also, Taurasi took a lot of heat for what she said about CC22 coming into the league. She didn’t say it to be malicious. She was keeping it real. Taurasi is a titan of the game yet she met her heir apparent with a big smile and a hug. They were even joking around during the game. Copper, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, and even Aja Wilson show Clark some respect during the games. As someone who had the fortunate/unfortunate experience of existing in two different environments where HAZING existed a long time ago, there is a reasonable way to do it and unreasonable way. There is also a point where everyone has to agree, "That's enough". Hazing beyond a certain point has zero upside, as it only breeds hate, especially when the person being hazed has taken the blows and said all the right things (which Clark largely has). I think the veterans looked around and said exactly that, "That's enough. She's a member now and should be treated as such." In short, the timeframe for cheap shots has just about run out. Moving forward, no one outside of a few teammates of the offender will defend sketchy stuff physical or verbal directed at Clark.

Clark proved herself and is still doing so and getting better she's a good player right now in the WNBA but she's a great rookie she has a lot of potential but don't get it twisted #10 got away with a whole bunch of fouls yesterday but that's not just on Caitlin I understand you know it's a game of basketball and there's going to be a little bump and all that but people are getting mugged and it's not just Caitlin I feel bad for them ladies😅😅 just saying But we'll see You're starting to see a change like you said and that's a good thing and that's been going on for about 3 weeks now when they finally got to the Phoenix game it became obvious that they have no choice but to say hey we're just going to slow Caitlin down we can't stop her But what I can't wait to see is how Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark play together that's going to be fun Cuz remember sometimes you're best opponent or your nemesis is sometimes your best teacher It's like every time the devil attacks me I go straight to Jesus I don't worry about what everybody else is doing or what the devil's doing I just go straight to Jesus, it turns out he's making me a better believer or don't think I don't hate him cuz I do hat satan God bless

I think that's true. I can't pretend to know what Carter thinks, but my guess is that she was utterly shocked (the media certainly was) when CC held no grudges, actually identified with Carter, and then praised her. The word wise is an appropriate one for CC.

Despite Caitlin's popularity (and well deserved), Diana Taurasi is still the pendulum by which the WNBA can positively grow. What I specifically mean by this is that Diana has always been "The Goat" (an elite basketball player) in this (WNBA) woman's league. She has always been honest and what she says, goes. So now with the Caitlin Clark affect, Diana has finally embraced Caitlin and after realizing she was Caitlin's idol growing up to begin with, things will only get better from here. Growing pains, albeit but the future is bright (very bright) for the WNBA. The love and respect shown by both Kelsey Plum and A'ja Wilson at the end of the game towards Caitlin solidfies my opinion! And to be quite honest, a lot of these girls shoot BETTER than the NBA players. Yes, I said it!!!!!

KP did have nice things to say about CC while she was breaking her collegiate record. I also wonder if Kate Martin being on the Aces means anything. Kate knows CC had teammates at Iowa who hated her, and she, herself, developed a relationship with Caitlin. Also, Vegas HAS to be seeing a ton of financial profit from Kate and CC and the 2 games with the Fever. We Iowa fans have swarmed Vegas for those games, and Iowa fans have bought so much swag/gear. The Aces are smart enough to know not to piss us off! 🤣 But you’re totally right. I think DT also really changes how a lot of W vets and veteran fans feel.

You people are DELUSIONAL. It is the MEDIA and people like YOU ALL who INJECT and READ TOO MUCH into some of the comments these ladies have made and NO you do NOT dictate to these ladies. The best you can hope for is that the Fever team continues to improve because you will be left with with your swag/gear in the dust and this is coming from a BIG Fever/ CC fan.

I don't know if Taurasi's shift is leading a sea change in the treatment of Caitlin Clark. Putting the race-based haters aside as outliers (i.e., the Angel Reeses and Chennedy Carters of the world), I think the visible manifestation of the Caitlin Clark effect has a lot to do with it. A lot of the early (understandable) resentment was based on an existential affront. It was a visceral response to some untested rookie getting hailed as the savior/GOAT/WNBA superstar. And the voices of reasons out there explaining the rising tide benefits were ignored or dismissed. But I think things change as WNBA vets witness the Caitlin Clark effect for themselves. When these vets walk into their sold-out arenas for their Indiana matchup or are informed that the league is changing venues to accommodate ticket sales for this "one particular game," suddenly they're face-to-face with the rising tide. And when they find their "home" crowd cheering just as loudly for Caitlin as they do the home team and they see the Fever or Iowa jerseys in the stands and the little girls clamoring for a singular autograph, suddenly there's an undeniable reality that kicks in. And not only does it behoove them to stop fighting it, but they come to realize that Caitlin Clark has done nothing personally to deserve what has become PERSONAL animus. My two sense.

I agree!!! If CC were to walk away, I don't believe that WNBA would get out of it's tail spin. I was angry at the ignorance & arrogance of I wonder if some by their wording made it sound like players were actually making comments onto these takes. A few times some1 said, blaming CC's fans & really saying they'd be happy if CC was gone & that we were than gone, B/C THEY LONG EXISTED ALL BY THEMSELVES B4 CLARK, & WOULD DO AGAIN!!!! What was unbelievable to me, was that they've NEVER EXISTED ALL BY THEMSELVES!!!! The NBA has been subsidizing the WNBA giving millions & million of dollars every year for almost 3 decades!!!

I don't watch WNBA for talent, I am interested in that only because of Catlyin Clark. Its her playing style its her personality That makes people like her. I dont care what people think, Cc is in a different level she is much faster phased than old players . When her team mates and COACH failing her doesn't matter even if she is MJ in a team like that. She can do everything alone, remind me of AI. If AI was not hated by the league and had a better team he would have won many rings. It doesn't make him a bad player , its the playing style and impact they make on game , for me CC 22 👑 Is making history and she is MJ23 in making , I hope WNBA will stop hating CC and protect her like MJ in NBA

MJ didn’t start getting protected until he had been in the league a few years. He also helped all the players get calls that they was use to getting in the league. MJ was protected because he was a high flyer with an 48 inch vertical which could cause him to get hurt very badly and there’s no one in the W that runs that risk, especially not CC 😂 None of the women are getting 5 inches off the floor. Now, JuJu Watkins of USC Trojans will be the MJ of the league when she comes in. She has a complete game on both ends of the court.

I disagree with the mentality of “shutting her down” as healthy. The vets need to get behind these young players because they are bringing more eyes to the sport than there have ever been before. And getting behind her doesn’t mean going easy on her- but it also doesn’t mean specifically targeting her either. It means you might haze for a minute bc she’s a rookie, but then you give respect where it’s due bc she keeps showing up and keeps delivering the ball to her teammates. It’s not CC personally that’s purporting the narrative- it’s the media. So it’s not right to take out your jealousy on her and her only. She’s been gracious and supportive of all the vets and other players. She doesn’t bite when the media dangles the carrots.

  • @dougphelps6917

I don't disagree - but I think it actually starts with Caitlin. With all they have thrown at her, with the trash talking in the media, and the other players feeding in to it... Caitlin never once fed any of it back. Put that together with her perseverance on the court, and it being half way through the season... and her numbers are steadily improving (and they have been good already), to keep going after her would diminish the league to the fans.

Nothing has shifted really. It was never as bad on the court as some made it out to be, and Taurasi had to say something decent or she would have to hear it every day until she retired. The roughest thing by far for Caitlin is the intense defensive coverage she gets. She gets more doubles and blitzes then most entire teams.
