THIS Is How Caitlin Clark’s Turnovers REALLY HAPPEN
In Caitlin Clark’s last three games against the Seattle Storm, Phoenix Mercury, and Las Vegas Aces, Caitlin is averaging 10 assists per game. But, she’s also averaging 6 turnovers per game. Are all the turnovers Caitlin Clark’s fault? Are all the turnovers her Indiana Fever teammates fault? Or, do the turnovers come from different reasons? In this video, I break it down.

In her last 2 years at Iowa they had a high turnover rate but they lead the nation in points scored and went to the National Championship Game both years. But that Iowa program had top notch coaches unlike at Indiana.

I do not know or want to know how many of these women were coached by former NBA player Bill Lambeer who coached Las Vegas Aces (Head coach, 2017-2021), New York Liberty (Head coach, 2013-2017), but during his NBA playing years he was known for intentionally trying to hurt star players, especially Larry Byrd. Byrd spoke about this in interiews he did and hates Lambeer to this day because when he went up for layups Lambeer purposely stuck his foot under where Byrd would land on the floor (trying to break his ankles), or attempted to stick his foot in the path of a player backing up with the ball so that the player would trip. Lambeer also purposely elbowed players in the face or neck when going for rebounds and always acted as if he didn't know what he did if he was caught by a ref. When I found out Lambeer coached in the WNBA a month ago, I started watching which women would attempt to do these things to CC.... you should look closer at the videos where CC tripped and what player was close to her when she tripped. I expected to see Lambeer's dirty tricks at some point in the WNBA because the man was a dirty player and never had any remorse for his behavior or admitted any of it so I have no doubt he would teach these tricks to other players that wanted to learn them. Here is Byrd talking about the ankles kzread.info/dash/bejne/eGZ1qJKyYZyug5c.html

What really made me take a closer look was the fact that JUST FALLING DOWN made no sense to me. I've played basketball till I was around 50 years old & I would drive inside the paint ... NEVER ONCE remember FALLING DOWN ... so I wondered how Clark , a professional, could just fall to the floor ... ... so I kept looking & looking & looking & having an opponent's foot come in contact with her "leading" leg(ankle) made much more sense

When talking heads were questioning the possession of Jose Mourinho's teams his response was brutal, essentially, "When the Premier League start giving points for possession, I'll change my management style, but that won't be football (soccer)". Similarly, when the W start determining points for Turnovers, I'm sure CC22 will change her playing style. But at that point the W won't be a league for basketball teams.

The defense has figured out that CC is more incline to pass the ball than shoot the ball. Especially when she is inside the 3 point circle. CC is best on breaks. She throws way too many 50-50 balls. She should realize her teammates are not catching the 50-50 balls. She needs to shoot the ball when she is open and pass the ball with clear line of sight.

The comments here are just idiotic. Every teams defensive strategy is to rush, trap, double team CC. Because of inept coaching the Fever just don’t take advantage of this. As far as the idiotic comments go, why is every team strategy focusing on stopping a rookie who is supposedly sub par? They guard her from 3 throw line to free throw line…90 ft defense. When the Fever sets a screen for her there is never a bad switch and free shot because both defenders both go to CC. They don’t care about anyone else. And as far as the coach…the only defense Sides is good at is her defense after the game at the press conference. There is no shut down defender. So defense relys on the system the coach puts in place. Currently in every game the opponents has a guard who torches them. Guards are having their best games against the fever and Sides changes nothing. Sides defense is creating highlight reals for everyone who plays the fever. And calling timeouts?? On 12 to 0 runs, it’s more likely the opposition coaches call timeouts to give their players time to catch their breath than for Sides to call a timeout to stop the bleeding and regroup. Sides is an adequate assistant who was promoted to a bad team where her inadequacies wouldn’t be noticed. The CC effect has put her under a microscope and the results are scary.

No player or coach in the league is calling Caitlin sub par. They pick her up before half court because she shoots from the logo. That just makes sense. She has trouble handling the ball under pressure, so putting pressure on her is just good defense. You can't think she's so great but then complain when teams key the defense to shut down her strengths. She's gonna have to get better. Just like every other rookie that's ever come into any league in any team sport.

Magic Johnson's assist rate went up by about 3+ per year when James Worthy came andvthe created Showtime. Your notes on chemistry or 100% spot on, Caitlin Clark needs her James Worthy. Last year her James Worthy was Hannah Stuelke. Several times you were unsure whether the pass should have been higher, lower, faster or what, and that's right because that is determined by the chemistry between the two players. Once she gets her James Worthy they're going to know both where to place it and how to receive it and when it's coming. Oh and of course magic also had his Michael Cooper and his Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and later his Michael Thompson and even his Kurt Rambis. They all learned how to fill the Magic Lanes. Besides that Clark needs her health and if the league doesn't clean up the abusive bully play we're going to lose all of the best players. Not only has Clark been struck in the head multiple times suffering the eardrum rupture she has lots of other knicks and bruises and it could be worse. What happened to Cameron Brink was not a good basketball play as she got hip check down while she was in a shooting motion and that's not a play on the ball. We're getting this weird bully ball refereeing and if it doesn't change the bullies going to knock out these new skill players who are coming in and it's going to fall back to being a failed League. The best suggestion that I have is that we put pressure on whatever television outlets are invested in the wnba, because if that League knocks the skill players out we're going to stop watching and the commercial sponsors are going to notice our absence and the TV channels are going to lose money. It's clear that the league itself is being run like a circus and by bullies and won't clean itself up, of course this shouldn't be about money and it shouldn't just be about Caitlin Clark, it should be about the welfare of all the women, so put the pressure on people. Let's keep in mind the little kids are watching too. They definitely notice when their new favorite players are getting bullied and beat on, let's show them we can make this better.

Turnovers don’t always equate to points for the other team. Assists also don’t account for three point shots or and ones. They don’t take into account of all the missed layups that would completely change these percentages. All the stats are skewed by limiting there definition. A quarterback who throws an accurate pass to a receiver and the receiver drops it, it’s still an incomplete pass on the quarterback. If a receiver doesn’t run the route correctly and it’s a spot pass, again it falls on the quarterback. If a left handed quarterback comes into the game to relieve a right handed quarterback, the receivers have to adapt to the opposite rotation of the ball, and that takes concentration and time. The same thing is true here where a new point guard or quarterback comes in and increases the spreed of the pass, you have to adjust to them. Time will take care of all of this but turnovers will still happen just as tipped balls to interceptions and incompletion in football do.

Excellent commentary breakdown on why Caitlin Clark makes too many turnovers for a variety of reasons, some her fault, some not her fault in her rookie start, trying make plays happen and get her teammates to up their game - From poor execution, which is not like Caitlin Clark, she's executes passes extremely well, to defenders stealing the ball in the line of the pass, to second guessing her decision to pass or take a shot, etc, all of which are rookie mistakes like you said, which of course Caitlin will most assuredly learn from as she continues down the road of her career. But contrast Caitlin Clark's overall rookie year performance to Angel Reese, there's no comparison. Caitlin Clark in the game against the Seattle Storm became the first player in the WNBA history to hit 300 points, 100 Assists, 100 Rebounds in just 19 games. Caitlin Clark is breaking records with every game she plays. Caitlin Clark already leads the WNBA is Assists and 3PM, and still has the rest of the season to break all other records There's no doubt Caitlin Clark is the most valuable player in the WNBA as a Rookie, who has revolutionized WNBA Women's Basketball to a new level Caitlin Clark has multi-million dollar endorsement contracts with NIKE, Gatorade, etc, why, because corporations know who the real superstar talent is, who has drawn in millions more fans to watch Caitlin Clark, NOT Angel Reese, NOT Diana Taurasi, NOT even Aja Wilson and Kelsey Plum, who could quit the WNBA tomorrow and go play for any international league and still be the women's basketball superstar that everyone would watch, bring in millions more fans and dollars to the league she joins. In the basketball world of personal talent, skill, teamwork, working to improve your game day in and day out, but most especially the ability to read and see what's coming next and take it to the next level, who always puts the team first above herself - Caitlin Clark is a true generational talent. Angel Reese is not even in Caitlin Clark's league, but of course the WNBA Est Elites, ESPN Sports Critics, Media, let alone Caitlin Clark racist haters Dawn Staley, Sheryl Swoops, Becky Hammon, Monica McNutt-job, and the infamous racist Jemele Hill are all conspiring to make Angel Reese Rookie of the Year, demonizing trashing Caitlin Clark day in an day out

Please stop! This coach hating is so short sighted. Grow up. You don’t consider that there are competitors bringing their IQ to the game and interrupting Clark’s moves. There is absolutely no reason for Sides to want to slow Clark down. The issue is that her team is learning her point guard style. Most are not used to her caliber of point guard moves. You saw it earlier in the season when she and Temi were clicking and then the rest of the team was coming on board.

I put at least 80% blame on the coach. Sides is a confidence killer. Other coaches go up to their team, slap them on the back, says great job, celebrates their individual successes. Sides does none of that for CC or really any of her players other than Wallace. CC is just biding her time bc of her contract then either the coach goes or she does. She may or may not reach her potential, only time will tell. But if she does, it won't be under this coach.

6 turnovers is high if she had 12 assist I d live with with a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio. 2:1 and better is what any coach would like to see. She’ll get it worked out. Her teammates will do better catching passes because they will become used to her passing the ball at times when others wouldn’t . She also will get better handling the ball and the defenders who put defensive pressure on her. Lastly she can be used off the ball more which in this old ball coaches opinion is when she’s at her best.

I think the falling forward/tripping could be related to her left ear injury (eardrum perforation) which can cause dizziness and issues with balance among other things until it heals. I hadn’t thought of that until your analysis on the recent stumbles when running the ball, but it tracks. I don’t remember that being an issue in the early season or in college. 🤔 And it stood out to me that media recently asked her if her eardrum was healed and she joked that she thought so but couldn’t see it. Surely they have a team dr and they are actually checking it out…

I think the thing with this team is that all the players have different momentum and so you need to have a way around that, you need to know what type of passes will work for each player . Fagbenle is more comfortable with bounce pass, Boston works better with overhead pass, Michelle is fastest and so it was most difficult for cc to make a pass to her early in the season but slowly she has started to match her speed and everybody else does different with different passes which is something she's trying to connect by herself and with a coach like sides so u know that's a big deal, it is taking her time ofcourse, people should hold a bit of their scrutiny and try to be logical , she's been able to do all that infront of sold out crowds she's basically practicing with the best in the league and let's be real if wasn't difficult it wouldn't be fun, she's doing all that with people constantly comparing her and denying her talent , the pressure is real but as I said it will take time and if anyways people want to see someone not struggling they can switch to someone better they've got 'options' in this league as I've been told , I'd be sticking with this 1 .

The 2nd play good look, low pass, below the knees of her teamate. 4th play, she shouldve shot the ball but she doesn't have confidence in the midrange or moving to the right. Next play, smith couldnt roll to the basket because thomas poppedc out into the passing lane. Caitlin didn't recognize that. Next play, yup bad call by the ref. Next play, pass was behind Temi's path to the basket and the defender was in position. Caitlin should've slowed the play down. What she wanted was not there. Next play, Boston wasnt posting up. They were in transition and DT was coming from the weak side. Caitlin threw it to where boston was moving but she likely didnt see DT. Not sure how you could blame Boston, or Clark for that matter, it was just good defense in transition, a forced turnover. Next 2 play, clumsy, these things happen. Next play, Caitlin should not have thrown that pass where she did, boston had stokes sealed but Caitlin put it in the wrong spot. Threw it right to her. Next play, the pass was behind Temi and a little too hard. Great idea, bad pass. If it hadn't been so strong Temi may have been able to adjust. Next play, tipped by defender, i think it was a forced turn over. Next play, Jackie got a hand on the ball. Forced turnover by defender. Last play, good idea, Caitlin didnt see the weakside help. End of the day, i think you got some things wrong, but most of these were not due to her teamates not catching the ball or otherwise doing something wrong. But you can't say "right idea, bad execution." But then say itv want Caitlin's fault. Those plays were her fault, but your right, she's gonna grow into the league and improve her timing, execution, etc. There's nothing wrongbwith just saying that without making the excuses. Shes a rookie for Pete sake!😂

Either she's never learned that which is poor coaching at all levels she's played, or she's just lazy. If Fabgemle was an International league MVP thats a weak league. Sorry, but those ladies need to step up!!! Have them set real screens since CC is always bringing ball up the court. CC shouldn't be the one to constantly be bringing ball up court. Chemistry and timing are what Caitlin and teammates have to have together. Sorry, practice only takes getting together so far. Games is what works best. Think of a player that passes the ball, his name some people may know Manning, Peyton Manning. What was his not only first year, not his second year, and third year was where he was throwing more catches than interceptions. He was used to the same passes and hitting the receivers in college with great results. Looking back on her passing then in the last three or four games, her passing and her mates are miles further in getting together. The falling on the floor two was not but others were her shoes. Why do NBA veteran's players practice in their shoes before playing in a game; no matter if they had worn the shoes in previous games. The soles change by wear or newly made that may have a problem on the floor. She was either changing direction or slowing/stopping and her shoe dripped the floor like having glue on them. I know this for having the same problem when I played basketball or tennis. Then it could be the floor, as different places played like the rims, balls, the floor are different arenas. Clark's falling down would be her planting her foot to go in a direction then having to change not having the time to change her foot leaving her off balance in direction. People do not think Clark is fast and she is not. But due to her nature decisions she is quick, meaning her brain reaction if faster than her body, at times. Clark can have a decision in microseconds most time letting her body know what to do only times her body cannot move that fast due to a flash seeing one thing not moveable on reaction. Look at KC QB Mahomes in the back field getting away from tacklers. You may not know, for not being there when I do this. People who understand a sport that does not understand football can be explained by referring the two together, as I did my mom, girlfriend and wife. That one pass in the paint Clark bounce to got to Mitchell or Smith. Notice she tried to put a spin on the ball to make the ball go left only not. The spin was not tight enough for Clark did not get the rotation of her fully. This was also another problem with Peyton's throwing, being the strength of the throw and tight spin of the football. Wait next year people thinking about Clark's passes. They will be stronger, faster, with tighter spins should she work on her wrist, fingers, and arm.

The lob that was tipped was just a great defensive play. Two recurring things I see are failing to direct her passes away from the defenders, and failing to use a bounce pass to make sure her teammate has a better opportunity to control the ball. Secondly, from these plays you're showing, it looks like Clark has a tendency to pass the ball to where she thinks her teammate ought to be whether she's actually there or not. Like she's trying to teach them a lesson or something. It's a bad look

Stop with the Coach blaming and excuses. CC is just not fitting in the pro's. She is a 2 trick pony, Long 3 pointers, great passing/assists. No defense, too many turnovers, not good when defended, and not consistant even with the 3's. People act like the crowds she draws is a stat, its not. Very over rated.

@@BrahT-qo8ii Here go her stats: 101 of 258 FG (39.1 %) 57 of 169 3 pt. (33.7%). 149 assist/118 turnovers. Kelsey Mitchell stats are better than hers. She is the best guard on the team.
