Love your unboxing. I like hardcore techy videos (like jarrodstech) but you go into the unboxing, general feel of the laptop, comparison with other laptops, first hand experience of the audio system, which is just as important. And none of it feels rushed. 90% of people care less about Tongfang performance beasts and more about this. Please continue this as I feel this is a niche sector but very important

@@justinc6962 Sadly on I tried on amazon but they took my order but a week and couple days later they still hadnt shipped out my laptop and it kept getting delayed, just to even start the shipping process, so i cancelled my order and went with a msi gs66 model instead, but instead it has a 144hz screen not 300hz 😔 but i dont feel ill really see a difference my desktop has 165hz 144hz 120hz and i dont see a difference when fps is over 200 frames

I have not tested the 2019 model, I have heard that it is a bit loud and hot. However if you can get a really good deal on it it may be worth it.

This one perform slightly ahead of the G15, personally I would do the Acer between the two.

Best I found is Alienware m15 R3, followed by the Legion 7i, and this Triton 500

Im buying this laptop...so far the BEST in its mid tier category. NO thermo issues...so it probably will last for 3 to 4 years!

What’s the temp of the nvme?

For architectural rendering, video editing, and some gaming, what do you recommend between this, the Strix Scar 15 i7 rtx 2070, Scar 15 r9 rtx 3070, and MSI GE66 Raider i7 rtx 3070? I am concerned with the thermals and performance. Hope u could answer this. Thanks!

@@dianabalderama4959 Haven't tested that one yet, but last year model wasn't great at thermal performance. The Raider has the light bar which I personally like. Cooling should be about the same in that. Thanks for watching. Hope that helps.

Is it a good laptop for 3ds Max?

The specs vs price are great except for the glairing issues of a complete internal teardown for simple things like Memory and HD upgrades. So you void your warranty just for something common as upgrading your storage.. And you will need it if you want to have even a few games installed with only a 512gb SSD.

Would be interesting to see how Helios 300 2020 with same specs compares with this one in terms of thermals and performance. My guess it it'll perform better given it's not as thin as this one!

Hey! Im thinking about buying this laptop and have a few questions. Does the hdmi connect to the nvidia gpu? and Does either the usb c, the mni display port, or thunderbolt 3 port connect to the integrated gpu?

If you buy this laptop buy a laptop cooler pad the vacum cooler dont work on this i have tested both. the cpu is gonna overheat after some use so a laptop cooler pad is nice :) my temp is 10c lower after the cooling pad, and i also repasted and undervolted.

@@alexburns5767 yes i do belive the hdmi connects to the gpu, if not i would not get 40fps on assasian creed valhalla on 4k tv on ultra settings if i remember correct. I dont think it conects to the intregrated gpu, but i belive this is a thing you can change in the nvidia settings, but for me the 2080 card is sett as defult :) i hope this answare your quastion, sorry if i could not asware it correctly🙈

@@steinarjohanmeloysund7016 thanks for the reply, the option your talking about might be physx, or it might be the fact that you can disable the integrated gpu and use only the nvidia one. I'm going to try to create a forum post as I need to be able to use the integrated chip for display output as well as hdmi for nvidia. If you have an adapter and are able to test that, that would be awesome, but if not, thanks for all your help

Either will work well I would lean towards the Triton 500 myself.

Question, so when you have the fan on auto during gameplay is the overclock set to normal or fast for good performance and less noise

I set mine to Extreme for the GPU, to squeeze a bit more out of the GPU, I found the noise levels were still good. The GPU has two fans so it can handle it.

@@CETechTips hmmm actually if I have auto and cooler boost on with the Extreme profile I get about 80 more rpm than Turbo so the noise does get slightly louder.... Are you having cooler boost off when using the auto fan mode with extreme?

Hmm, I think I would lean towards the m15 R3 right now, just because in general you can get a decent lift in performance. This Acer 500 and Legion 7i would be a close 2nd.

Is there a way to disable the keyboard light-show on boot? It is so annoying! Managed to disable the boot-up sound, but the disco-light is still there! Anyone??

I prefer the Triton 500. I had the 2070 115 Watt in the GE66 and the 500 outperforms it, granted that is a 2070 Super Max-Q. I do like the RGB in the front in the GE66 though.

Just curious what version was your base Nvidia GPU driver that it came with out of the box?

@@CETechTips so I was having issues with my first laptop as GeForce somehow did a clean install and ruined some things and I did an exchange...... The problem is..... As soon as I opened the new laptop it had the same driver from Nvidia not the stock one that comes from acer so unless it somehow syncs my acer or Windows account drivers from the previous laptop I don't know why it's updated.

Hey man. Only just come across you channel. Good vid :) But max q tech should be sent to the scrap pile imo. I had the predator helios 300 17 inch with the 9750h and rtx 2070 max q. That was a chunky chassis that could easily handle a full desktop card but they used max q tech. Not inpressed by acer AT ALL for that and will never buy their tech again.

@@rokelis6 That is strange it is unlocked for me when I go into the core offset voltages. Yours are all grayed out? There is not a setting in the BIOS to unlock XTU like MSI. Inwould make sure you have the latest BIOS?

I used throttlestop and on hwinfo64 it showed undervolting worked but I had issues that when I shut it down and turn it back on it takes away the undervolt but somehow it got fixed automatically and now it's fine. I love your reviews by the way, keep up the good work, I don't buy laptops but from now I just love watching your reviews because they are interesting and entertaining.

@@CETechTips ok :) i have not had any problem yet with my undervolting, but i am also useing a cooling pad and repasted my laptop since the paste on the cpu bas badly done. But the best solution to the cpu was a cooling pad, i also tried the vacum cooler but the pad was the best choice. gpu temp 71c cpu 75c-80c on boost :) i must also say that i underclocked the cpu to 4 ghz insted of 43 on all cores. Did not effect the fps i played on since all the boost button to is overclocking the gpu 120 core clock more. The lower temp the better performence and longer life:) before i used to get alot of fps drops since the cpu got up to 90c and started to drop fps, i most also say that my laptop gets fps drops if i have the cooboost on and not set to auto, i need to set it off then set the fan to max if i want the fan to run faster withouth fps drops. The predator sense can be a bit confusing since it used alot of the cpu power and will mostly sett your temp up to 70c in the predator app just by showing the program. so to see cpu temp i recomend something else like msi aftrburner or throttlestop if you want to see your idle temp, i use msi afterburner to see temp and all ingame :)

News. If u got triton 500 -52 with 10th gen dont hesitate and update bios to 1.09 and download new cpu microcodes... its unlock mine uv from max stable - 70 to - 90 . Diffrance cinebench r20 from max 2600 score now i get 3090 in r15 from 1180 go up over 1300 . With turbo max temps in games i haved even 96 C is 77C avr 4.2 Ghz

Can I play gta5 ultra max setting on that beast?

@@CETechTips sry but no.. if they add 2070 super no max q itll go over 80 C even 90. With this max q it go 90w but sometimes its go even over 100w in extreme oc it go 2000 Mhz my max temp on it 80 so if u add extra 15w it will be too much for this tiny case

that background wall lighting is more impressive than this cheap ass made laptop 4hrs battery life loud fan sound a "free second slot" that is "easy access" but u have to unscrew 40 bolts because its by the motherboard and it gets bacl screens at certain games for a gaming laptop its garbage

Don’t buy this garbage i had one and it sucks

@@CETechTips oh I bought one and after 4 days my ram had issues and i was hitting black screen and after 3 months they sent me a replacement unit and after 3 weeks my screen went black and there was no power. Mine was the max configurations. It would kick me out of the game. After acer refuse to give me a refund i dispute the charge and i have all the emails . And videos how it was acting . It is horrible.

I also had issues with 2 units (1 sent as replacement). Considerable coil whine, bleeding in the IPS panel and loose trackpad in both. The screen flex is also scary.
