Acer Predator Triton 300 (2020) - Review

Review of the Acer Predator Triton 300 gaming notebook. This is one HOT unit, for all the wrong reasons. While I know Acer can make a good product this one has lack luster results. Check the video to find out why...

Great review bud! I'm liking the evolution of your videos...they keep getting better and better! I have to say...I'm a little surprised at how this laptop performed...I guess Acer needs to go back to what made the Helios 300 such a great laptop especially for the price. Keep up the good work!

I bought the predator helios 300 back in (2017) and heating is really bad but I don't find that problem in other fellow helios 300 (2017) only in mine and it keep suddenly shutting down when it's too hot when I am gaming. Now after 5 years, I'm planning on buying new one, this one bc i pretty much like predator astestic but that shutting down problem tramatize me. Is there any problem like mine or mine is just faulty one?

Would you consider reviewing the Helios 300 2020 model? I know they may seem similar, however the venting is different and I get cooler temps on that compared to the Triton. Its slightly heavier/bigger so that might help the cooling. Would be great if you gave it a shot!

The heating was the only problem for me, because my current headset should have noise cancellation for myself and the people already subjected to hearing my voice that could block the rather noisy fans out, and I wouldn't be moving it around all that much so the low battery (although I think you found a way to significantly improve that based on another comment) won't affect me very much at all

@@swanaung8890 yes I mean it goes up to 93 degrees C which is a joke and turning the fans max not cooling it down but even raises every other temperature on the computer so what’s the point of it? It’s just noisy😂 The game is lagging like crazy then the computer just shuts itself off. I bought a cooling pad with 3 fans and it’s helping. It’s now around 80-83 C if I detach my external drives it goes down to 78. But I honestly don’t understand how could they construct this machine without considering the amount of fans. I am not saying that I regretted buying it, but I should’ve bought Helios. I was deciding between this and that. Right now I don’t wanted to send it back to change the cooling gel cuz they might find something extra to pay for it and hell naw!!! I won’t pay for anything.😂

@@swanaung8890 i havent noticed my perfomance going down at all. You go into the power plan for your pc, click advanced and scroll down to the cpu power plan, then you edit it in both plugged in and not plugged in. I used to get temps about 95° on the cpu while playing games, now its max is 85° when I push it. I can play RDR2 on ultra and it runs like a dream

I've got the acer Predator Triton 300, i7, 16gb Ram, 1tb SSD, RTX 2070 max Q version, definitely runs too hot for gaming, even on an old game like battlefield 4 reaches temperatures of 85-90 degrees Celsius, to be honest though I've tried the msi g66 raider and the heat situation isn't much different, too many manufacturers are producing laptops way too thin packed with these high energy consuming processors and GPU's, its just ridiculous. I'm not one of those idiots that chases the latest tech every year, I want my device to last as long as possible, running the laptop at these temperatures is going to damage the board no mater what you do! I got mine for £1299 in the UK just after Christmas, normal price is £1499, for what's packed inside its a pretty hard price to beat, other laptops with exactly the same components were around £1700 to £2000. I didn't buy this laptop for gaming, my usage is mostly Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop & just general use, with this sort of usage the laptop really shines, temperatures are quite stable between 47-57 degrees Celsius, sometimes even lower. However no way would I recommend for gaming, 30mins on battlefield 4 and the laptop gets stupidly hot, even with a cooling pad with 5 extra fans.

Thanks for sharing Ray! These thing sure do get hot, but if you don't use it for gaming it will bebmore than enough. You got a decent deal there to, enjoy!

@@kisseniko8658 after owning this laptop for about 2 months, I would say spend a little bit more and get something that has better cooling, I played battlefield 4 a few days ago only for 30 mins and it literally burns your hands if you touch the centre section to the point where it is painful, I'm sure if I placed a drop of water it would sizzle, I don't know if acer designed the board to withstand these temperatures. I'm sure video editing is going to push the temperatures just as high as gaming 👍

The is highly inaccurate.I purchased Triton 300 (2020 version) last week. I have been playing games for long sessions and it is hot.but in normal scenarios it does never get hot no matter what you do. Battery life is roughly 4-4 1/2 hrs without gaming ( always screen and WiFi on & doing office work) Performance is really great.i get 70-80 FPS in RDR2 with ultra graphics in 1080p and CPU temp was 89 average. System temp and GPU temps were in 70-78. I hope I can reduce the temp by few degrees with a cooling pad. My specs I7 10750H, 2070 max q
