Great to see all the first time attempts not quite perfect left in the edit, you walked us all through the process prior to us doing it and showed us all the common issues we are likely to encounter. Love it!

FYI... You may want to update the title of this video. I have replaced the A/C belt on both a 2009 and a 2013 Silverado 5.3L. With the change to the new body style in 2007 (you must be doing this replacement on the old "Classic" body 2007) the new body style Silverado no longer had a belt tensioner for the A/C belt. It is now a stretch belt design. The stretch belt is a Gates K040355SF Serpentine Belt. The install tool is a Gates 91030 Micro-V Stretch Fit Installation Tool. Both are available on Amazon. The belt tool help to do both remove and install if you want to save the old belt (not cut if off) as an emergency back up.

Just FYI you’re kind of wrong, my 07 Silverado (new body style) DOES have the tensioner on the AC belt just like in the video. So obviously they went away from that soon after, but you do not have to have a Classic body style to have the tensioner, as in my case and in the videos case.

you likely have a "stretch to fit" belt. You will need to have "Gates 91030 tool" in order to put the new belt on. Put the belt on the ac pulley first, then use the tool and rotate the crankshaft with a 15/16" socket to slide the belt onto the crank pulley. If you aren't mechanically inclined, you might want to bring it to a shop... Good Luck!

Good video, but a better way to put the drive belt back on is to wrap it around all the other pulleys except for the idler pully, then after you crank down on the tensioner pulley to release the tension, slip the belt under the idler pulley. This way is so much easier and you're not struggling with trying to force it over the tensioner pulley and risk damaging the belt.

If the AC belt is behind the serpentine belt, yes. You might could get away with just taking it off the tensioner and crank pulley but leaving it mostly in place

Has anyone ever encountered an AC belt without a belt tensioner? Anyone have the part number for it? 2010 Silverado I have does not have the tensioner installed. Bolt hold are there just not installed

With the belt off, spin the tensioner. If it does not spin freely and QUIETLY it needs to be replaced. Could also be too much resistance in your compressor
