Nihilism is living with a "why?" Absurdism is living with a "why not?"

Wait until you become depressed as absurdist When the whole world becomes so painful to the point you can't become anything anymore Then the question will be answered: "Oh thats why " It's like taking drugs It's so much fun until a certain point Then you start wishing if you could go back in time but you can't I feel like I'm talking to myself... Please if anyone who have the idea to start living that way please don't Even if you managed to survive that pain , your life will NEVER be the same And that moment of "oh a cute duck" will never return And not a single suicide prevention post will come across become useless because you already know everything there , because your entire life was "why not?" So you when they everything they say about loving to live become meaningless I don't even wanna think more about the past

Just 'cuz to both of them. Reason isn't always needed, and if you want to go that route here are some rest stops: who said the universe had a beginning, it may not exist! How can you prove that reality is real, it's impossible by definition, we expect it, but that statement is immeasurable, just like with the tree that fell and no one hears, did it make a sound. How about CGI(CGV) does it exist, is it also part of reality, how about the concept of "2" does it live somewhere.

But that response would only be relevant to that of existentialist nihilism which is unfortunately what is being used as a generalization in this video. Also you’d have to have a voided belief or something other than hard determinism otherwise it wouldn’t be a true philosophical viewpoint. Absurdism is really just a conscious avoidance of reality. It’s not a decision and it’s not a belief because how can some of an opposing standpoint come from the opposite and original conclusion. If you have acknowledged nihilism as a reality, which ties into determinism, then absurdism really cannot exist. It’s completely illogical and in itself a paradox

Absurdism is eh, I’ll just have a good day, and let tomorrow worry about itself. If life had a meaning it would mean that man has no choice. If it was a ready-made thing. This is also the reason nobody is born religious or born into a religion, because that would take away the possibility of conversion, you can not convert from a male to female and vice versa. You can try, but your biological gender will always be there. The fact that you can convert from a religion to another is proof that nobody is born into a religion. If life had a meaning it would take away the possibility of any other meaning. The fact that life is meaningless is a possibility for you to create any meaning, it gives you a choice. What was the reason to do anything if life had a set goal to be achieved? The only set goal is the grave. Because the moment you are born is the moment you start dying.

My personal take on absurdism is this: we, as a sentient species, are the eyes and the ears of the universe. We are the universe watching itself. Every time I observe something, especially something with no one else present to witness it, is a precise moment of perspective in space and time that would've otherwise gone wasted if not for me. It doesn't matter whether I fully grasp what I saw or not, I derive a great degree of satisfaction from this sense of self-awareness regardless. This is what makes life worth living to me, and I'm going to keep doing it until the day I die, because the alternative is to experience nothing, and that's boring as shit.

the art of mastering absurdism: be at peace with the chaos.
Last year I was riding my bike, and stumbled upon the exact question you proposed, if existence is infinite it doesn't make sense and if it was created out of nothing it does not make sense either. My heart started rushing like never before at that moment, fearing that if I continued questioning it my binary brain would go crazy, but I took a chance at staying at the feeling for a while. Suddenly everything seemed to stop, I felt a calmness I had never experienced. I just can describe it as awe. Everything felt so beautiful and intriguing, I felt like an adventurer, like I was waking up and seeing everything for the first time. I'm so glad to watch your video cause I wanted to create my own video but couldn't find the words. Thanks, I'll check your poem book.

It’s wondrous to witness this how the philosophical change of perspective initiated just by taking on board a message and meaning can bring relief, even joy. Thank you! As an aside, the production values of your videography and sound-track are simply stellar. Your choice of Klezma and music of with distinctly Sephardic influence was spot on. It resonates….and matches the pace of your visuals perfectly. If the purpose of your message was to create a deep resonance that perpetuates its proliferation, I think you’ve aced it. Today though I can look at these videos and people like you explaining their philosophy (in an absolutely amazing narration style btw) and smile at the optimistic answer to these dreading questions.
I like that you maintained the Balkan music in the background, to an uncomfortable loudness, and it sort of has this cumulative effect with the words where you can really feel the existential crisis of the multitude of inputs that defines life itself.
one of my favourite quotes of Albert Camus is: "You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life." his books really helped me find peace in suffering.

I was extremely young when I had my first existential crisis, I’m talking 7 or 8 years old. It made me feel weird about “why/how do I exist, is my body me or is my mind me?” But luckily because I was so young it evolved into absurdism, not nihilism. When I was a teenager I couldn’t understand why people felt life had no meaning or purpose, and now that I’m older nihilism feels like giving up on FINDING your own personal meaning and purpose. it’s actually insane how accurately you managed to put into words the exact same “chill down my spine” unnerving feeling i get when i consider the whole nothing/infinity thing regarding the first cause. it’s the closest to a lovecraftian concept i can experience. a literal void in the middle of philosophy and when you have a full intuitive grasp of that concept you’re forced to confront that right now, at this present moment, you’re only existing and consciously thinking about this very concept because of one of two impossible possibilities that *must* be true

Love the way of phrasing that "you're forced to confront that right now". Because that's always exactly what it feels like when I think about that very subject. I can always, almost literally, feel an internal battle in my mind where one side is trying so hard to understand the concept, while the other is trying to scurry away from the subject, to think about easier things instead.

@@wolfborn4967 Dear wolfborn4967, I like your reply to sloppysorabji's reply and I appreciate thought provoking replies, especially to such thought provoking videos. You may be interested ... maybe not, in my reply to sloppysorabji's reply. Also your reply makes me think of the words of a song, "pull me into shallow water before I get too deep". Our minds, are always in a state of activity (even when asleep) and when awake we are always experiencing ... something ... and thoughts about what we are experiencing are forming and changing and being crafted ... and we sometimes wish to put forth more energy and sometimes less energy into a specific experience, which includes thoughts, it all depends on what we get, (or is it what we Want to get?) from our effort ... joy, satisfaction, comfort, something that holds our interest, ... and OUR immediate energy level because energy is always in a state of flux, always waxing and waning. We need both enough energy and enough ability to fully comprehend ... anything ... in any particular moment, AND we all tend to lean toward easy when we are in a lower energy state. Love & Peace to You

this message is to sloppysorabji on April 7th 2023... The One reply I made to You ... here, around 2 or 3 days ago is not showing up here now for some reason??? My reply to wolfborn is still here (think I made those replies the same day). Anyway ... I will ask again ... what are your definitions (or ideas or concepts on the nature of "Force")? I wrote some of my thoughts on it, but they appear to me as have been removed or they have disappeared???? don't know. I have referred to that "missing" reply in a different area .... not knowing it had disappeared here until this morning.

Fine work! Great explanation of absurdism. The overlay of humor is superb and it works well with the idea that we're all so small and meaningless. It also reminds me that most of our problems are small
Exurb1a's videos are literally my mind on a daily basis. Constantly thinking about the creation of the universe and its purpose and ours in all ways possoble.
Yeah I'm very much an absurdist. I came to that conclusion by myself in a vacuum actually. Well, I mean. I was actually watching a bunch of your videos a long time ago and basically I was getting existential crisises on the daily and then I was like "why should I continue to wallow here... why don't I just do things that make me happy instead. Questioning existence makes me sad, so I'll stop that, and I'll just go play games or build a model kit." Now I know it has a name! That's cool.

absurdism is more taking value out of the fact life is meaningless via coming to the conclusion that without meaning one has the freedom to apply meaning

There is a saying which has always shaken me and it’s very much along the same lines as this ^ “Enlightenment. But first, the laundry.” ^ like no matter what we do, or feel, or how hard we try to understand, or how lost we get in the existential spiral, we will always have mundane responsibility to attend because we are alive. EVEN those who feel that they understand the world, still have to so laundry. Even when you recognize that you are divinity, divinity is you, and that everything is everything and nothing is nothing and you fall into nihilism, there are still clothes to fold. And there always will be! Thats absurdism! (i had no idea this was a theory, but I’m glad it is. Very helpful for me)
As someone who's dedicated a lot of time to reading Camus, I was pleased to see that this video is really accurate to his spirit and message! I hope more people can find peace in his message, because at least for me, the absurdist life is life changing!
